465 kB/sec = around 3.6 mbps. BSNL EVDO is using Rev.0 which has a maximum download speed (technically) of 2.4 mbps only. So I am not sure how that was possible?

Probably the shown speed is just a burst. If it is 465KB/s the download of 360MB should be over in 15 minutes. is it not?

^^ Exactly! That's what I wanted to say in my previous post. The speed and the remaining time just does not match.

Anyways, voted for Photon as I have read good reviews about it!

^^^^ In which way would it be better ? Atleast from those reviews..

1) Tata website has fake info.. they have mentioned it as 3.1 Mbps whereas REV-0 by nature gives Max 2.4 Mbps.

2) Upload is like CDMA 1x.

3) Available only in 5-6 citites compare to RComm's 35 + cities.

I am a moderate downloader and usually download 30-40 GB/month. However, after getting BSNL EVDO my total download in a month was 70+ GB. considaring Rs.550 for the EVDO, its a steal. BSNL may not be best for blazzing surfing speeds (for me upto 100 KB works) but is good at downloads and torrents. U can get twice or thrice of 256 kb unlimited connection at almost half the price of it. There is no limit on download. upload speed ****s sometime. with all this my vote is for BSNL.

You get good speeds for torrents? BSNL blocks port forwarding, so torrents work pathetically. Can you tell me the speed that you get for torrents and whether the port used for torrents is open for your connection?

DONT WORRY offer will be extended.

about ROAMING, bsnl is till working on .

about 2mbps and 256 kbps. broadband is getting good subsciber so high tariff won't them go back,

EVDO gets very less subsciber so they need to maintain low tariff+ it's wireless and les stable than BB

Yes, torrents do work and port forwarding is allowed. I get a green icon while using utorrent.

My pc is on 24x7 and the download is @2.5-3 GB/day.

The speed varies a lot and i have not experianced speed only till 170 kbyte/sec. however the avg speed is 40-50 kbytes. I am using it on roaming as the card was not available in pune and had to ask my cousin to source it for me from Nagpur(both cities are in same state).

Sliding a CD into the EVDO antenna did improve the signal stability. Daytime speeds may **** sometime.

I was not in favor of EVDO but had no choice. thankfully I ended up with a good and cheap connection.
