webos is one of the most innovative and best os to come after iphone and android palm pre did everything out of box from day 1 what android does on 2.1 eclair it has awesome hardware , pre has omap 3430 running at 600mhz classified under arm v7 which is equivalent to qualcomms snapdragon 1ghz the webos os is intuitive and user experience is one of a kind , not to mention in just 9months palm rolled out 9 updates to webos and had lived upto its commitements , something that u dont see that often in todays world even on gaming front it leaves android /windows mobile/symbian far behind , any one who doubts this have a look at palm pre palying hd games synergy is awesome , its syncing capability are far better than other os , ask users who use palm pre to sync and the will tell u how much better it is to link all ur profiles and contacts one big criticsm was availibility of apps , but now app count is also increasing and now there are more than 3000 apps and patches and with public pdk going live this month there will be a huge surge of apps pouring in app catalogue as developers will just port apps from app store to app catalogue inspite of all this , webos fails to get recognition is deserves, and credit for all that goes to some poor marketing and business decision taken by palm over last yr , they didnt release it in more prominet markets in asia , kept it on sprint for a very long time rather than tying up with a gsm operator they kept webos to tehmselves rather than making it open source and giving it to other oem's like what google did , that would have turned tide in palms direction and secondly its difficult to crack it down for reliance , unlike htc ,which leaves a sour taste in those who were not able to get this phone on reliance but people who are using it , still like it for what it offers , many people i know use palm pre alongside with android due to all mishaps by palm , inspite of having webos , their stocks are rolling down , sales are not so great but a power user like me who changes phones more often, i still swear by my palm pre for what it offers

There are some pretty interesting things that popped up on the Pre's PCB's. This is the first production device we've seen on the OMAP3 (Open Media Applications Processor) platform. OMAP3 is powered by the 600MHZ ARM Cortex A8, PowerVR SGX 530 (GPU), 430MHz C64x, DSP and ISP (Image Signal Processor) and was clearly designed to pack a punch On the connections side we see the usual wifi/bluetooth combo going to Marvell and CSR with the W8686 and 63823 respectively. We also see the BaseBand win going to Qualcomm with the heavily integrated MSM6801A platform. The OMAP3 PMIC comes loaded with a USB tranceiver and Audio codec which even further reduces the overall board density of this device. We're not fully sure – but it looks as if the Pre's cool new multi-touch Touch Screen Controller win went to Cypress Semiconductor with the CP6944BA device. The device packs a 1150mAh battery On the top of the communications board we can spot the BaseBand Processor (Qualcomm MSM6801A), SDRAM, RF power amp and Duplexer by TriQuint. On the bottom of the communications board we can spot the BaseBand PMIC (Maxim MAX8695Q), RF Transmitter (RFT6150) and the RF Tranceiver (RFR6500) both by Qualcomm. On the main logic board, we see the OMAP3 PMIC – the Texas Instruments TWL5030. As mentioned before, this PMIC is packed with a USB Traceiver as well as Audio Codec. We also see the Bluetooth and Wifi Tranceivers with the earlier discussed wins from both Marvell and CSR. This device contains a microUSB port and 8GB of internal memory from Samsung. Elpida offers up some mobile DDR memory and is stacked on top of the venerable OMAP3 processor. We'll have to wait and see how this thing benchmarks. Source

I got the dream phone PALM PRE before 2 weeks...at the initial looks itself i got fida with the handset..its a blackstone...with a silver embossing of PALM. and I sitched it on....the Loading screen with PALM text displaying like a heartbeat.... The transition effect to main window was so cute and nice..there was no delay or anything..it was that much smooth. The home page is a full screen wallpaper and the bottom is having 5 icons : Call, Calendar, Phonebook, e-mail and Launcher. The launcher had 2 pages which contains messages and so many softwares. The gestures as Palm site shown worked very effectively. There is no delay in gestures. And wat i got amased was the multitasking. Its amazing and unbelievable compared to other phones i have ever used. U can open 6 or 7 applications but the phone is stable.we can select in between which one we need and even when the 7 screens are opened, the transitions between the screens are very smooth. This can not be told..But have to be experienced.Seriously..If u use this for 1 day..you will never ever try to change this handset...atleast for an year(Its for me..I change smy phoen once in 6 months). The phonebook integration with Facebook and Gmail is too good. we can combine the profiles of related persons into one profile. making the search better. They also provide default integration to chatting to Gmail and AIM. Then we cna connect the phone to USB, there will be 3 options - Media sync, data storage and just charge. Media sync will sync to iTunes and data storage will act as a pendrive and charge..it will just charge the phone. Another feature i liked the ebst is when v get or make a call and put ithe phoen to ear piece..light fades out..and when u removes it comes back automatically..for other HTC phones v have to manually press the power switch..this inturn saves a lot of battery.. I didnt do any hacking or cracking to phone for some days..then I logged to Precentral..which is having a lot of bunch of applications..like on and off of data and lots of patches. Then I came across Palmware an application for PALM through which we will get all the applications all the patches and themes and everything for the webOS update..I added so many patches like i have a Personal avatar for my sms and all..and lots of patches. Even the battery life will be 50% after my frequent calls and sms at night around 9 pm. So I dont battery is an issue compared to my previous phones. Initially I had so many doubts..so many worries..for taking the PALM PRE..but our Muffy..told me to go ahead...the feel will be amazing...I am totally happy with the new handset..and guys who really plan to buy PRE..one advice from my side..go ahead....Its really stable and will surely a SHOW STOPPER when you are at public. At the applications and patches..dont worry about it..lots and lots are present.....you will surely dont have to be sad for buying the PRE.... You can ask any doubts...i will try to clarify from my experience or our Dr. is here..he will help for sure...
