After conquering the cinema theatres, TV sets, computers and cameras, 3D seems to have broken another bastion with its entry into handsets. Budget mobile phone manufacturer Spice Mobile has released what it terms, India's first 3D phone christened View D.
Listed officially as M-67 3D, the phone will feature a 2.4-inch auto-stereoscopic display, which is a fancy name for 3D displays that don't require stereoscopic goggles. Spice, however, doesn't mention the exact kind of auto-stereoscopic technology employed in the LCD screen, but almost all of them have limited viewing angles, which is not a problem for cell phones though. The phone is also dual SIM (GSM+GSM) capable.
The 3D display is complemented by 3D enabled video player, image viewer, and a 3D capable user interface. Also bundled is a 2 megapixel camera, FM radio, 3.5 mm audio jack, and memory that is expandable up to 16GB. Priced at Rs. 4,299, the handset will be sold through 50,000 retail outlets, including 750 Spice HotSpot stores.
