I have seen two projects of tata one got shelved off and one got delayed for 5 or 7 years - just because they did not bribed. They are TATA HONDA car project (Year 1985 or 1987 - India got sierra and estate from same plants) second one was Steel plant in Silvassa (D&NH) of VOLTAS. Tata's are known to pay price of not bribing officials. I believe because one think corrupt or practices corruption, upfront comment about every one should be avoided.

LED backlighting in TVs has been a real boon for end users, while manufactures have been able to create stunningly slim televisions. It also keeps the environmentalists happy since there is no mercury used in LED backlit TVs there by giving you a greener product. We tested quite a few LED based LCD TVs in the past and the difference in power consumption is certainly visible while still maintaining a good brightness level. The problem with the term "LED backlit LCD" is that it's a bit too long, which does not look good in advertisements and posters. Manufacturers have conveniently eliminated LCD and simply highlight "LED", duping customers into thinking they are LED TVs, which they clearly aren't. Today we'll have a look at the different types of LED LCD TVs currently available that offer improved picture quality over the other or even traditional LCD TVs. All LED Backlit TVs are not created equal The first thing that you should know is that not all LED LCD TVs are created equal. Just because the TV may have a sticker that says "LED" on it does not mean you'll get the same performance as the flagship model. Stop and think for a moment, if companies used the same technologies in their high-end and low-end products, no one would look at the higher end models, right? There are predominantly two types of LED backlighting technologies; Edge-lit LEDs and Full array LEDs. The first batch of LED TVs that came out in 2009 were based on this technology and was first showcased by Samsung. Today you'll find everyone using this technology in their "cheaper" LED LCD TVs. Edge-lit typically means the LEDs are placed around the edge, which allow companies to make slimmer TVs. There are no major advantages in this type of LED LCD over conventional LCDs when it comes to picture quality. In fact there are many uniformity issues with edge-lit LEDs, like certain areas of the TV tend to be brighter than others, which we noticed when we reviewed the Sony ZX1. This is cheaper to produce than Full array LED LCDs, since they use a fewer number of LEDs. The other technology that can be found on most of high-end TVs of today is Full array LEDs. As the name suggests, there is a full array of LEDs (see pic) sitting behind the LCD panel. This obviously gives you a more even backlighting with little or no uniformity issues. Mid-range to high end models typically have this sort of backlighting, like the Samsung UNC6500 series. In terms of picture quality, there is no real perceptible difference when compared to an LCD. The only advantage here is lower power consumption and again a slimmer profile. The latest crop of LED LCD TVs feature Local Dimming LED technology, which changes the game altogether. What is Local Dimming LEDs? LG was the first to push out this technology in India and today almost all major brands have Local Dimming (LD) in their flagship models. LD on Full array LED TVs give you the better picture quality compared to the LD on Edge-lit TVs, which was introduced this year in the Samsung UNC8000 series and LG LE5500 series. The LEDs used here are similar to the Full array models except that the array is broken into different zones and the LEDs in each zone can be dimmed or brightened depending on the scene at hand. This gives you very good black levels that rival plasmas, since the LEDs in the dark areas can be completely turned off. There is a little catch here though. The side effect of this is a slight blooming effect noticed up close when a brighter image appears suddenly over a dark background. This happens because when displaying a dark background, the LEDs in that area are mostly off and when a bright object suddenly comes into that area, the LED's light up to full brightness and then dim down to the current selected picture mode. This happens very quickly and isn't very noticeable when watching a movie, but if you connect a PC to it with a static background, it's visible. Despite this, these TV's are capable of delivering the best picture quality among LCD TVs. Commercial true LED TVs don't exist yet How would one define a LED TV? It's when a single LED is responsible for illuminating a single pixel on the screen, which is when you could do away with the LCD panel altogether. Today's high-end LED LCD TVs pack in around 1500 LEDs and a typical full HD panel will have around 2 million pixels. So in order for a TV to be classified as a true LED TV, we would have to have 2 million LEDs powering individual pixels, which is simply not possible today, and probably won't be commercially viable for some time. So you see, no matter how companies try to spin and twist words and create fancy slogans, if a TV uses an LCD panel, it's still an LCD TV and not a LED TV. Sony and LG clearly mention this on their site as LED LCD TV, but Samsung seem to have conveniently dropped the "LCD" from all of their LED TVs, which would easily fool the misinformed. Aren't LED backlit TV's supposed to be cheap? Technically LEDs should be cheaper to produce compared to CCFL based LCDs, but our guess is that manufacturers seem to be cashing in on the hype and buzz generated by none other than them. Everybody wants a slimmer TV for easier installation, more bragging rights, etc. and we seemed to have conditioned ourselves into thinking the extra price is justified. Another reason for LED LCDs being expensive could very well be the manufacturing process not being that mature as yet compared to LCDs. It's probably cheaper to manufacture an LCD, since this technology has been around for a while now and manufacturing units are more wide spread as compared to LED LCDs, which just started hitting selves a year back. What the Future holds In the next three to five years we should be able to see a considerable drop in prices as we adopt newer technology for cheaper and better LED LCD TVs. QD Vision is a company that claims to have developed a breakthrough technology called Quantum dots based on nano technology that is capable of delivering up to 40% more power efficiency and a color gamut over 100% of the NTSC spectrum. This is achievable due to the use of nano sized semiconductor crystals capable of emitting pure red, green and blue light. You should see this technology hitting LED LCD models of 2011, which isn't far away. If you were on the fence on getting an LED LCD TV then we'd say get the one with Local Dimming LEDs if you can afford it, or else simply stick with a cheaper LCD TV, as the color reproduction will be better than the "cheaper" Edge-lit models. Better still, if you have a well functioning CRT at home, stick with that and take the plunge maybe next year when prices go down south. SOURCE: Techtree

I've got USB tether (also mobile hotspot) working in Pixi Plus on Tata. This is what you need to do 1) First download and install Terminal app from Preware 2) You will need to use vi - the default editor in Unix ( try to get the basics of vi, on how to edit files usig vi - google /wikipedia is your friend) 3) Launch terminal on your pixi , and enter the following command : mount -o remount,rw / this enables read/write access to the system. 4)The next command will open a file in vi: vi /etc/network/options You should see a file with 3 lines starting with ipforward=no. we want to change 'no' to read 'yes' using vi's commands, then save and quit ('esc' then ":wq" then enter). 5)Edit the if-down file: vi /etc/pmnetconfig/if-down move down (press 'j') to the line that reads ${LOG} "${ECHO} 0 >/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward"Add # to the beginning of that line. The next line should read ${ECHO} 0 >/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward Add # to the beginning of this line also. This prevents these commands from happening which disables the ip forwarding. 6)Now you need to create a dummy file so that PmNetConfigManager will write to it instead of the real ip_forward file. Start by creating a similar folder to keep it in.: mkdir-p /media/cryptofs/fake/sys/net/ipv4 then ln -s /media/cryptofs/fake /fake n -s / Now create a 0 byte 'ip_forward' file with : touch /fake/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward 7)The next file to edit is much larger and is mostly not formatted as text. It is the actual PmNetConfigManager service. Lets make a backup copy: cp /usr/bin/PmNetConfigManager /usr/bin/PmNetConfigManager.orig Now we have to stop the service so we will be able to save the changes. type: stop PmNetConfigManager Now enter vi /usr/bin/PmNetConfigManager search for proc/sys (use /proc/sys) and change "proc" to "fake". Now after saving, PmNetConfigManager will use our dummy file. You can now start PmNetConfigManager tart PmNetConfigManager 8) One last file to edit:vi /etc/pmnetconfig/if-up Goto the bottom line and add a line with iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o rmnet0 -j MASQUERADE and one with iptables –append FORWARD –in-interface usb0 -j ACCEPT then save and quit. 9) finally you should make the file system read only again : mount -o remount,ro /uand enable the USBnet ethernet device.Go to USB Passthrough Control and usbnet enable usbnet enable your phone should restart and then your pc will detect a new hardware device an RDNIS ethernet gadget. Get the driver for Pixi from "http://giotorious.org/webos-internals/usbnet-pre/blobs/raw/master/windows/usbnet-pre.inf" After that finishes up, go to network connections and find the new "Local Area Connection X" (X will be a number) Right click it then choose properties, then find the "internet protocol (tcp/ip)" and click it then click properties. Configure the new ethernet device to use IP 192.168.0.203 with gateway 192.168.0.202, and DNS Server 121.242.190.180 Install 'freeTetherD - Network Routing and Address Translation Service' from Preware That's it , you should be able to tether your Pixi Plus to your PC. Please take a backup copy of all the files mentioned above before editing them. Do your own research, I've only reproduced what I could gather from Googling. Gurus please correct me if I'm wrong somewhere.

First Open an Account in DropBox then Install the Application from link they send on email Click here Open a DropBox A/c and Install it The application syncs mobile device online and to your other computers. Now you can browse the files in your Dropbox folder from anywhere! Share links to files with your friends, save photos and video from your camera to your computers, and even open files using any of your favorite Android apps. Pros & Cons: Pros Access files, upload and share: documents, pictures, videos, music and more across multiple computers and mobile devices Works on PC, Mac and Mobile Files automatically synced and backed up by Dropbox Features: Dropbox for Android brings their cloud file storage solution for convenient collaboration with mobile phones. With a Dropbox account you can access your files like documents, pictures, videos, music and more across multiple computers; PC or Mac, mobile devices and the Dropbox website! Upload or easily share files in your Dropbox, plus all files automatically synced and backed up by Dropbox. The cool thing about Dropbox's service is that you can share folder contents with someone simply by the their email address, granted they accept the access on their end. Dropbox initially gives you 2 gigabytes of free storage space for creating an account and offers another 250 megabytes for completing the Getting Started tour. If you choose to upgrade the service they offer 50GB for $9.99/month or $99.00/year and 100GB for $19.99/month or $199.00/year. Video: Dropbox Usefulness: In my case, Dropbox is very useful for sharing large video files captured from my Android phone. Since I like to shoot all video under the highest possible setting versus MMS or YouTube quality, the caveat of the HQ setting makes sharing the vid while mobile, without plugging into a computer, a pain because you cannot upload or email files that are too large. However Dropbox alleviates that as I can upload and share the link from there. Many people are still apprehensive about storing their personal or confidential documents in "the Cloud" due to privacy and/or security concerns… to each their own opinion. As for myself the convenience and cost effectiveness cloud storage services offer are key. (Be sure to read their terms and conditions on privacy and security concerns). Ease of Use: The app and service is really simple and easy to use. For mobile, it allows you to create, upload and share files from your phone to the cloud or vice versa. Say you wanted to download and edit a Word document, this can be handed off to other 3rd party Android apps like Documents To Go and OfficeSuite Pro for Android for Microsoft Office document editing. Frequently Used: Really user dependent on your needs for collaborative document storage and sharing. Interface: The user interface is simple, organized and easy to navigate or search for files.

It is well known that Tatas will not be paying money for extra considerations. I know a case where a state transport is imposing Rs 25 lakhs penalty for delayed delivery of buses as per the agreement. Tatas have accepted the penalty and were ready to pay.Meanwhile the ruling party comrades started negotiating and asked for a party fund of Rs five lakh to waive off the 25 lakh penalty. You know what happened?. Tatas have refused this offer and paid penalty. That is TATA. They can survive without paying bribe. Now here in this forum how many of us are not willing to pay bribe to get things done? How many of have got the patience to achieve the results without bribing? Me? No. Not possible. the big question is who is responsible? THE GIVER? OR THE TAKER?

I installed the OTA this evening. I had to download it from this URL: http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/verizon_incredible/00cb7fa66e35.OTA_IncredibleC_Verizon_WWE_3.26.605.1_3.21.605.1_release_sign.zip . I reinstalled the stock recovery (2.1) and then installed with no issues (the OTA the was pushed via wifi hung. Then reinstalled ClockworkMod with no issues. I'm still trying to judge any tangible improvements in performance. As per some postings on driodforum.net and xda-developers.com the are rumors as to improved battery charging with the patches in this update. Here is the change log of OTA. The most useful may be the improved Yahoo Mail support, larger attachement size, security enhancements, and Google Maps portait/landscape viewing: * Updated Flash Player with security enhancements * Visual Voice Mail Wifi improvements and removal of incorrect service messages and post-call notifications * Better support for Yahoo IMAP e-mail * Update to Slacker Radio app * You can attach files larger than 5MB * Updated Cox POP3 e-mail settings * Updated Comcast POP3 e-mail settings * Play YouTube videos in the YouTube app (that's new?) * Seamlessly switch between portrait/landscape in Google Maps * Search key and other buttons displayed in the correct order (what's the wrong order?) * VCAST app lets you bill apps to your Verizon account cheers, gjp
