3 pointsWhile the efforts are definitely in the right direction, the outcome of these are very doubtful. Saw one female RJ of some pvt. FM channel ranting that she went to the passport office and had to pay at every place to get her passport. What she conveniently did not say was that she paid because she did not want to stand in the queue, did not want to wait for the stipulated dates, did not want to wait for the police verification process etc. Every time someone breaks a traffic rule, they are more ready to offer money to the traffic police than accept the challan and follow the due process of law. The very same youth who are jumping up and down at various public places in support of Anna would very quickly be willing to pay under the table to get into the IIM or get a high paying job. Same thing is happening everywhere. Corruption has reached the genetic level of this country, particularly the so called middle class. Will lokpal bill make it an offence to offer bribe or to entice someone with money? don't think so. Unless there are provisions to punish those who offer money, as long as there is even one Indian who is willing to jump the queue or not accept a traffic challan, and is also willing to pay for it, corruption would prevail. Anna or no Anna.

1 pointWHY am I opening this topic? I waited for 2 days hoping this time someone else will start this topic and our beloved Rimweb will not be left aloof from the quite revolution sweeping the nation... Please See, Share & Spread... Bharat Mata ki jai... I claim no moral high ground as I run an industry and have to feed these corrupt, as I have already commented elsewhere on this forum that NO business in India is running without feeding these corrupt anywhere in this country. But my anger is seething. I have tried to raise voices against these corrupt but was gifted with my licences being suspended. I have been made an enuch on seeing the faces of 200 people who depend on me for their livelihood; my family, my achievements in life, which I fear to loose. I am a sufferer as well as a perpetrator and I feel nothing short of a "french" style revolution will make any tangible change in this country... We need laws as tough as in Singapore, where even a Taxi driver is afraid of being reported for over-charging. We need death penalties for severely corrupt. We need FEAR in the eyes of the corrupt not in the eyes of the corruptee. Launch raids against top 20-30 most corrupt Chief Minsters and Ministers immediately (my state included) and set a example of them. FEAR should percolate downwards, not the other way around as they want us to believe. Otherwise my Democracy would have failed me...

1 pointHi all, I am creating this topic to spread awareness of various social movements, NGOs etc. where we can participate and contribute towards eradicating social issues. Do spend few minutes reading this and contribute your knowledge, the more we are aware the more we can help the downtrodden in society. I will start off by describing Nanhi Kali, a movement which I am associated with and want others to know. Government of India statistics reveal that only three out of ten girls who enter Std. I complete Std. X. At primary school level, over 45% of girls dropout of school and this increases to over 73% by the time the child has reached Std. X. Research has shown that reasons for this dropout may be as minor as the girl child not being able to afford a dress/uniform to go to school and could include more complex factors like girls taking on the responsibility of household chores at a very young age as a result of gender stereotyping. What is Nanhi Kali? Project Nanhi Kali was initiated in 1996 by the K C Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET) with the aim of providing primary education to underprivileged girl children in India. Anand Mahindra, the founder of Nanhi Kali, believed that educated women form the foundation of a modern secular society and felt that there was a strong correlation between the existing societal ills in India such as spiralling population rate, dowry deaths, caste system etc and no education of the girl child. He believed that empowering the girl child with education would result in huge benefits for the nation in the long term. Impact 1. Project Nanhi Kali currently supports the education of over 57,000 underprivileged girl children from poor urban, remote rural, tribal and conflict afflicted communities across 7 states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and New Delhi. 2. The project has witnessed a significant increase in both enrolment of girls and attendance of girls in schools. 3. Drop out rates of girls have been curtailed to less than 10% within the programme compared to national level figures of 30% at Primary level and 70% at the Secondary School level. 4. Further assessments done by a third party have reported an increase in learning outcomes ranging from 40% improvement in tribal Chhattisgarh to 78% in Mumbai slums within a period of a year. What can we do? Project Nanhi Kali is a participatory project where any individual or corporate can sponsor the education of a disadvantaged girl child for only Rs. 2400 a year (for a girl studying in Std. 1 - 7) or Rs. 3600 a year (for a girl studying in Std 8-10). This comes out to be around Rs. 7 (for a girl studying in Std. 1 - 7) or Rs. 10 (for a girl studying in Std 8-10) a day. Plus the donation is tax exempted. What does the Nanhi Kali donor receive? Each Nanhi Kali donor receives a detailed profile of the girl they sponsor along with her photograph and two progress reports to keep them updated of how she is faring in both academic as well as extra curricular activities. Visit http://www.nanhikali.org/ and decide for yourself. And this might just be the best Rs. 10 you spend per day. Thanks for reading. Mods I have written this personally as thought of sharing this with forum and in no way been influenced by Nanhi Kali to promote their services. If this breaks any of the forum rules then please do delete. I could not find such topic if any exists then please merge.

1 pointNice Thought ... +1 Have some suggestion for enhancing & widening the subject... Can this Topic be renamed "What's Good & Positive That Is Happenning In India" & Topic Description "Share Things/Initiatives Which Give HOPE For A Better Tomorrow & Increase Awareness" And one can share here in addition to what one is doing socially ( Many take this as a Personal Thing & May Not Share in Public..)... Information About NGO's, Organisations, Initiatives active in India in various spheres of Life like Civil Rights, Education, Citizen Awareness, Consumer Movement, Anti Corruption, Individual Development, Child & Woman Welfare... Basically Anything which is happenning without the Government Intervention where the normal citizen of this country (A Company/Organisation is also a Citizen For This Purpose..) is doing something POSITIVE and REST of US should know about it and may like to PARTICIPATE in it... Let's Shoot Cynicism, Past Failures, Critical Appraisal, Why This Can't Happen and Have Some POSITIVE Energy Spreading... Atleast that Won't Do Any Harm AT ALL.. And Those Who Believe & Are OPTIMIST can have A Single Source of Good Information To Participate in One's Own Area of Liking..

1 point^^ This is the exact kind of attitude and apathy that is making corruption swell in our country. We just dont care. We are into victim psychosis where we are blaming ourselves for everything bad upon us. This is the exact excuse that a corrupt gives to himself that the corruptee in fact deserves the affliction he is bestowing upon him. Then why are there countries where corruption is next to nil? Its the government machinery in place which is preventing it, like in Singapore. The strict laws are a deterrent of the kind that human nature understands. Human Nature is the same whether in India or in Singapore - http://en.wikipedia....rceptions_Index . Corruption can be directly linked to population and the resources available in a country. But the fact remains that a pro-active government can curb it and stricter laws are the only way out in our country...

1 pointMTS to launch dongles that work on both CDMA and GSM MTS plans to launch a CDMA dongle (USB data card) that will also work on 3G GSM networks. However, this will be targeted only at international travelers. The benefits of such dongles cannot be over stated. With this technology, a subscriber can travel anywhere in the world without worrying whether or not he will be within network coverage. This technology is particularly important for CDMA players as most of the world has GSM coverage while CDMA coverage is somewhat rarer. This leads to people preferring GSM dongles even where GSM network is weaker than CDMA. Talking to The Mobile Indian, MTS spokesperson Viraj Chouhan said, "We plan to introduce a CDMA + GSM dongle in India targeted specially at frequent international travelers who need seamless data connectivity." He, however, did not disclose a timeline or price for this new device. Source : themobileindian

1 pointHow to install windows 7 from USB? its easy and very simple. You not need any software or expertise. a simple utility, win7 DVD and little knowledge of using computer. you do not need HP utility that was earlier required to make USB drive bootable or any 3rd party software. please make sure you have following items before proceeding: 1. Windows7 installer (bootable) DVD through which you are currently installing windows. 2. min 4GB USB drive. it works on any external USB drive of any capacity. BACKUP DATA FROM THE USB DRIVE B4 PROCEEDING. THE DRIVE WILL BE FORMATTED & DATA WILL BE LOST. 3. Diskpart utility from Microsoft. If you are using windows7, it is inbuilt. for others, Download directly from here.. Steps to make your USB drive bootable 1. install and run diskpart that you downloaded from above step 3. For win7, open command prompt and type "diskpart" (without quotes) and press enter. when diskpart is started follow these steps 2. List Disk (it will show all the disks on your PC - including hdd and USBs) 3. Select Disk 1 (Replace 1 with number reflecting your USB Drive. no shown from step 2) 4. clean (this command will delete everything from your disk) 5. creat partition primary 6. active 7. format fs=fat32 quick (here we are formating drive with FAT32 files system and quick. qucik is faster and advisable) 8. assign Letter=F (this will assign drive letter 'F' to your drive. you can assign any free drive letter). 9. copy your entire win7 DVD to USB drive. 10. connect USB drive to PC on which you want to install win7 and boot it through USB. I am using this method for quite some time and its working fine. no problem at all. this is very useful for netbooks where you do not have optical drive. It can be used on any PC/laptop that meets hardware requirements of win7. It is much faster from installing through DVD. My engineer has made 1 USB pen drive active and just load win7 files whenever he need to install win7. otherwise, he uses it as normal pen drive with active partition. Mods/Admin: i had searched whether anybody has posted this before or not. i could not find it, however it is already there, you can delete this post.

1 pointEveryone is talking About CORRUPTION... And the frustration of people is there for all to see... But most of this is against general corruption we witness all around... Wait till you read the correct information in the following reproduced links for Issue on Hand and What the Current Agitation is all about... AND HOW THE GOVERNMENT (INCLUDING PAST ONES) THINKS IT IS EASY TO FOOL AROUND EVERYONE ALL THE TIME FOR YEARS... After reading.... You may dream of having a guillotine, a public square and mass live telecasted execution of all those responsible with your hands.... Collect ALL of that Anger... Preserve it... And Don't Let Go... India Against Corruption Our Anti corruption system needs a change Why is it that no one goes to jail in our country despite indulging in corruption? This is because we have completely rotten anti-corruption laws and anti-corruption agencies that it is almost impossible for the corrupt to be penalized. Jan Lokpal Bill is the solution Justice Santosh Hegde (former Supreme Court Judge and present Lokayukta of Karnataka), Prashant Bhushan (Supreme Court Lawyer) and Arvind Kejriwal (activist) have together drafted a strong anti-corruption law called Jan Lokpal Bill which requires that investigations into any case should be completed within a year and the trial should get over in the next one year so that a corrupt person goes to jail within two years of complaint and his ill gotten wealth is confiscated. Click here to read deficiencies in our present anti-corruption systems Click here to read salient features of Jan Lokpal Bill Click here to read how Jan Lokpal Bill will improve existing anti-corruption systems. Download complete draft of Jan Lokpal Bill (English)... Proposed Govt Lokpal Bill is an eyewash Lokpal Bill has been introduced eight times in Parliament since 1968. All the eight versions have been very weak. Even these weak versions have not been passed so far because Lokpal Bill seeks to investigate politicians. The latest draft of Lokpal Bill prepared by the present UPA government is a complete eyewash. Rather than strengthen anti-corruption systems, it demolishes whatever exists in the name of anti-corruption systems today. It seeks to completely insulate politicians from any kind of action against them. Click here to read our critique of Government's Lokpal Bill Click here to read comparison between Jan Lokpal Bill and Government's Lokpal Bill. Download Government's Lokpal Bill We have drafted a similar Bill called Jan Lokayukta Bill for the states. Presently 18 states have Lokayukta Acts. However, they are quite ineffective. We want that the existing Lokayukta Acts should be replaced with Jan Lokayukta Bills. Write to Prime Minister
