Unboxing - http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/31537-review-sprint-htc-evo-3d-worlds-1st-proper-3d-phone/page__view__findpost__p__236203 Screenshots - http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/31537-review-sprint-htc-evo-3d-worlds-1st-proper-3d-phone/page__view__findpost__p__236206 HTC Site Specifications - http://www.htc.com/u...rint#tech-specs Sprint Home Page - http://now.sprint.co...3d/#/techspecs/ HTC EVO3D Official Support Page (includes Post launch update instructions) - http://www.htc.com/u...rint/downloads/ Review by Engadget - http://www.engadget....-evo-3d-review/ This below photo is of Green Hornet in 3D (though the 3D effect is not visible here). It is just unbelievably awesome. 3D actually works without glasses and eye strain. Initial Observations- 1. Build quality is top notch; better than Epic 2. 4.3" screen is brilliant 3. 3D photos watching is a pain on the eyes but movies is another matter all together 4. Though it is half the depth of Epic, feels heavier and solid like steel (though fully plastic) 5. Sound Volume seems lower than Epic 6. Soft buttons 100 times better than Epic (my main grouse); same like Incredible 7. Plastic Battery cover is like pappad but after closing feels solid 8. OTA to 2.3.3 (ver 1.13.651.7) has started automatically on wifi 9. Gingerbread + Sense interface is just awesome and beats any Samsung/Moto interface hollow 10. Watching Green Hornet in 3D (free download via wifi on the phone) is just F AWESOME. No Eye Strain at all. This truly has to be the biggest selling point of the phone that 3D in movies and games "actually" works on this phone. Volume is a little low (as was in Epic for movies). Headphones needed. 11. Downloaded all settings, HDR, PPP, PRL etc. in 5 minutes through Hetal (a big Thank YOU). Just waiting for MEID registration to complete. 12. The Lockscreen can be modified to many in-built themes. Default is set to weather. 13. GPS locking is about 5 times faster than Epic (as with all HTC's) 14. Wifi strength is also better than the Samsung's 15. 8GB micro sd bundled in box 16. Build quality of dedicated Camera button and 2d/3d mode is great 17. Qik Video Conferencing works great (tested over wifi) 18. Google sync did not work after software settings through cdma workshop were loaded. Had to do a factory reset to get it to start working. Factory reset did not spoil the software re-settings. 19. The Sense weather has more melodrama added with sound effects. 20. Dedicated Notification light on top. Algorithm is better than Samsung 21. 3D Movie - The Green Hornet and 3D Game - Spiderman, loaded by default (needs wifi) 22. Battery Life seems much better than Epic. Results here - http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__237741 23. New Update to 2.3.4 is now out and I received it OTA over WiFi (unrooted phone). It upgraded my Android Version to 2.3.4 and The Software number to 2.08.651.2. Details here - 24. After the new update, now you can take screen shots on EVO 3D by long pressing the power key and then the home button. Image will be in the gallery under camera Shots. Works even on unrooted phones now. Details here - What I dont like - 1. Low volume compared to Samsung hardware. Same was in Incredible where we solved it by 3rd party app. Will research more. Edit: With use for some days the sound seems to have opened up and increased by itself. Sound Test Video posted here - http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__237822 Seems more than sufficient to me now. 2. Screen brightness of S-AMOLED of EPIC is brighter than this 3D though very slightly. Nothing much to crib about. 3. Its heavier (170gms) than I anticipated. Maybe because of the humongous 1730maH battery (the highest capacity I have encountered). Its almost 60gms heavier than its competition Samsung Galaxy S2. It is even heavier than Epic (155gms) though it is thinner and easily pocket-able. 4. The Galaxy S2 is much slicker and sexier than this curvy babe. S2=Kareena; EVO3D=Silk Smitha 5. No headset in box 6. Lacks Kickstand aka EVO4G 7. 8GB Card is LESS by today's standards. Though 1GB RAM is standard. 8. Locked Bootloader. HTC has promised to send a software update by 1st week of August to unlock it.Therefore NO CyanogenMod ROM for EVO3D till it is unlocked.Edit : S-Off achieved; Bootloader Unlocked - http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__238042 Do the following immediately- 1. Change Proxy to 0.0.0.0 to enable YouTube Playback on EVDO by doing this - http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__237026 2. Change to EVRC-B for enhanced and clearer call quality by doing this - http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__237274

Reliance Industries conducting due diligence on Aircel, may make offer for controlling stake Source - The Economic TImes MUMBAI: Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-controlled Reliance Industries is conducting an advanced due diligence exercise on telecom services provider Aircel, three people said on condition of anonymity. Reliance Industries has completed atleast three rounds of due diligence on Aircel and may offer to buy a controlling stake in the company if talks between the two sides result in a deal. Reliance Industries marked its foray into the telecom sector by acquiring Infotel Broadband for close to $1 billion last year giving it broadband wireless access licenses in 22 circles across India. A spokesperson for Reliance Industries denied any such move. An Aircel Spokesperson said in response to queries from ET Now, "This is a baseless rumour and a mere speculative report". People familiar with the ongoing due diligence exercise said Reliance Industries is formulating a plan to expand its basket of services to include both voice as well as data services and is keen to buy a telecom services provider which will give it access to much required back-end infrastructure as well as a large customer base which it could put to good use for its broadband roll-out. Aircel has close to 60 million customers and 2G spectrum licenses to operate in 22 circles across India. The company also acquired 3G licenses in 13 circles and Broadband Wireless Access licenses in 8 circles in India. Aircel had revenues of Rs 5600 crore for the calendar year 2010 and posted a net loss of Rs 260 cr for the same period. The company is likely to have total debt of close to Rs 17,000 crore this year. Malaysia's Maxis Communications Berhad owns a 74% stake in Aircel and has been in talks with multiple global as well as local telecom players to divest its holding in the company according to people close to the group but has so far failed to arrive at a deal due to differences in valuation expectations. Maxis is owned by a Malaysian billionaire Tatparanandam Ananda Krishnan. Aircel sold 17500 telecom towers to Manoj Tirodkar-controlled GTL Infrastructure for close to $2 billion early last year in a deal that included commitments by Aircel to use GTL's tower network for its services. GTL derives more than 50% of its revenues from Aircel. One of the people quoted above said that Maxis may still be keen to provide services in India through the Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) route but does not want to own the telecom infrastructure or spectrum that have burdened it with high operating costs. A Mobile Virtual Network Operator buys network from other operators who own spectrum and the associated infrastructure to provide services to its customers. There are currently regulatory restrictions in India for telecom companies to operate as MVNO's.

<< This service is not active anymore, so requests will NOT be accepted now. Please check: >> Ok guys... Now we are available here on RIMweb.in to provide the EVDO activation to Aam Admi who are unable to get it through the Reliance Contact Centre and/or Reliance Outlets. Following are the rules and regulations:- 1. EVDO Activation Request will be processed only for RIMweb.in Registered members having more than 10 posts. 2. Members need to send an email from the email address registered with your RIMweb.in profile with the following details to: evdo@rimweb.com or evdo@rimweb.in (please send to either one only and not both!!) RIMweb.in member username (this is the forum registration member profile username so that we can check your post count and NOT your full name) MDN - 10 Digit Number RSN - RSN Number of the handset/OMH Sim Card Handset - with model # Alternate Contact Number - Any Alternate Mobile Number to which a confirmatory call shall come from Mumbai Reliance Headquarters for EVDO Confirmation. 3. After sending the email the member will receive a confirmation email within the next 7 days. Members cannot make any irate demands for the activation of EVDO. We shall pick up the numbers once in a week for activation and the member should understand that it may take upto 10 days; though we will be trying to activate in 2-3 working days normally. 4. This activation procedure is meant for members who have purchased an EVDO handset along with OMH Sim Card (like Samsumg Galaxy POP, Corby, SCH 369, SCH 239, LG 510 Cookie, LG 235 etc.) from Reliance for which the EVDO parameters are already registered in OMH Sim Card with Reliance. The number/connection of the member should be on either an OMH SIM Card or a Non Sim handset which is having EVDO Facility and whose EVDO Parameters are also registered with Reliance. 5. An SMS will arrive on the member's handset regarding a request being registered at a Reliance Outlet and asking for overall experience. Member needs to either reply with "YES" or leave it. Please DO NOT reply with "NO". If we get a "NO" SMS from any member, then this project for EVDO Activation shall be closed immediately. And after getting EVDO Activated, Memeber may confirm us by posting here in this thread. Regards Amit Jain -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Read This: How is EVDO activated on Reliance CDMA? There are two steps for EVDO Activation First, the parameters of EVDO should be registered for the handset in Reliance Server. In case of OMH SIM Card and Official Reliance BlackBerry having EVDO (BlackBerry 9630, 9650, 9230, Style etc.) and Official Reliance Non SIM EVDO Handsets (Like - Samsung Atlas, Coolpad N900), the parameters are already registered with Reliance. And in case of Imported handsets, you need to check whether your EVDO parameters are registered with Reliance or not. We are NOT here for REGISTERING THE EVDO PARAMATERS of imported handsets. Second step is after your EVDO Paramters are available in Reliance Server, EVDO won't start automatically. We have to submit request for EVDO; WE ARE HERE DOING THIS WORK ONLY in this thread. We have seen many members asking for help to do this as Customer Care is clueless about it and that is why we are helping here. Additional Notes: * Making EVDO work on imported handset requires programming the handset with necessary HSD PRL's, HSD username and password in addition to the handset parameters being registered in Reliance Servers. That is outside the scope of this initiative. You may contact your handset seller for necessary assistance to register EVDO parameters at Reliance and configure in your handset if your handset's MEID/ESN is registered with Reliance. * We can activate EVDO on BlackBerry handsets only if you have active BIS Service (CDMA) on the handset. In Case of BlackBerry handsets, member will not get any Service Request SMS. We will get EVDO activated on BlackBerry handsets directly from AAA Phongen Team. * To configure handset like Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA: Go to Setting > Wireless > Mobile Network > APN > Add new APN > Username = MDN (10 digit number) Password = MDN (10 digit number) Homepage – www.google.com Save it and then select it as default. You can use now as per your NetConnect Traiff plan You can change NetConnect plans by calling: 180030005555 All data plans available for Reliance Mobile CDMA can be found in this topic plan details.doc plan details_smaller_file.pdf

PayTm.com has come up with a new coupon code DTH15 which gives the user a 15% off (recharge amount200-450) on DTH recharge. I created an account and did a recharge of Tata Sky for 450/- and paid 382/-. It worked. Then tried it again with same account, same phone number and same DTH id. It said "Sorry promo code already consumed." Tried it again with different account, different phone number and same DTH id and "it worked" So, I paid 764/- and got a recharge of 900/-.

Basic problem you face is that you are never sure what exactly you want in a "Handset"? Do you want it to make you a cup of coffee, buy cheaper petrol or be your "girl friend"? OR Do You want Isaac Newton's Brain, Marilyn Monroe's Beauty, Ferrari's Speed, Toyota's Reliability at a Chinese Price ? Unfortunately both the above ain't gonna happen anytime soon.. You have already used Samsung Epic in CDMA, iPhone 4 in GSM and now looking for a 15K Budget phone for you in GSM.. Do you seriously think any Desire/Defy are ever going to satisfy you? I don't think so.. It will be a futile exercise and you will be here again in less than a month.. An alternative course of action for you.. Instead of buying a 15K handset now, buy any good handset below 10K or better buy the cheapest one for the moment.. Use it for approx 2 Month... In July, HTC EVO 3D GSM Version is coming... Buy it then.. That will satisfy the urge for something "New/Best/Perfect" for quite a long period..
