2 pointsThe Next Wave: First Bluetooth v4.0 Products Reaching the Market The first products with Bluetooth v4.0 are starting to arrive, beginning with a heart-rate strap and new computers from Apple. This trickle will soon turn into a flood. These pioneering products will soon be joined by Bluetooth v4.0 smart phones, as well as a plethora of new health & wellness devices, consumer electronics devices, and PC peripherals. Bluetooth v4.0 phones arriving in a few months A big shift will begin before the end of this year, when the first mobile phones with Bluetooth v4.0 technology begin to ship. By the end of 2012, virtually all new smart phones will include Bluetooth v4.0 technology. This will allow phones to continue to connect with the billions of Bluetooth devices in the market today, in addition to new devices with Bluetooth v4.0 and its hallmark feature, low energy technology. Here is a roll call of some the first Bluetooth v4.0 devices: Apple releases world's first computers with Bluetooth v4.0 MacBook Air The new MacBook Air—Apple's thinnest and lightest notebook—adds Bluetooth v4.0. This will allow it to wirelessly connect to the next generation of mobile phones and many other devices coming out later this year with Bluetooth v4.0. The new MacBook Air also features the latest-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, high-speed Thunderbolt I/O technology, and all-flash storage. Mac mini Like the MacBook Air, the new Mac mini also adds Bluetooth v4.0, which wil allow it to wirelessly connect to the next generation of Bluetooth v4.0 phones and other devices coming out later this year. The new Mac mini also features the latest dual-core Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, AMD Radeon HD graphics, and high-speed Thunderbolt I/O technology. Dayton and Nordic Semiconductor create first heart strap with Bluetooth v4.0 Dayton heart-rate strap Dayton Industrial Co. Ltd has created the world's first production-ready Bluetooth v4.0 heart-rate chest strap, using a new Bluetooth v4.0 low energy chip from Nordic Semiconductor. The device is now ready to go into production and will be able to pair with the new wave of Bluetooth v4.0 phones expected out later this year. Users won’t need a special matching watch like most heart-rate monitors use today. According to Nordic, the strap can be paired with a phone or other Bluetooth v4.0 device in seconds, allowing people to display their heart rate on their phone while they work out and analyze it afterward. 1 point1 - Android basics ROM: it is the firmwire similar to Windows on PC, in Android world we have the ''stock ROM'' which is the ROM that comes built in, we have ''custom ROMS'' which are built by developers bringing lot of customizations, and ''cooked ROMS'' which are custom ROMS on which we add apps and settings as we want. Kernel: it is the interface between hardware and software, used to modify hardware drivers as wifi, battery, CPU overclocking and undervolting. Radio: it changes the baseband of the phone, though not recommended to be changed because they could brick your phone. Rooting: it is a process that allows users to attain privileged control (known as "root access" or superuser su) which allows installing specific apps, custom ROMs, kernels etc. Recovery Mode (recovery.img): it is a special piece of software that gives you access to administrative functions, such as installing the base system (ROM), making backups, and performing a 'factory reset'. Android SDK: it is a free app for windows that is essential to use ADB and fastboot. ADB: it is a DOS command that can be used within android sdk when the phone is in normal USB mode, mainly used to copy/pasting system files. Fastboot: it is an ADB command that takes the phone into fastboot mode, can be used to unlock bootloaders. Refer this for details. 2 - Setting up Android SDK and using ADB Refer to this topic for details, guide videos and commands. Though most of the common activities do not need ADB use, it is good to have this setup. ********************************************************************************************************************************************* Gurus, fellow members - comments are now welcome. 1 point<< This service is not active anymore, so requests will NOT be accepted now. Please check: >> Ok guys... Now we are available here on RIMweb.in to provide the EVDO activation to Aam Admi who are unable to get it through the Reliance Contact Centre and/or Reliance Outlets. Following are the rules and regulations:- 1. EVDO Activation Request will be processed only for RIMweb.in Registered members having more than 10 posts. 2. Members need to send an email from the email address registered with your RIMweb.in profile with the following details to: evdo@rimweb.com or evdo@rimweb.in (please send to either one only and not both!!) RIMweb.in member username (this is the forum registration member profile username so that we can check your post count and NOT your full name) MDN - 10 Digit Number RSN - RSN Number of the handset/OMH Sim Card Handset - with model # Alternate Contact Number - Any Alternate Mobile Number to which a confirmatory call shall come from Mumbai Reliance Headquarters for EVDO Confirmation. 3. After sending the email the member will receive a confirmation email within the next 7 days. Members cannot make any irate demands for the activation of EVDO. We shall pick up the numbers once in a week for activation and the member should understand that it may take upto 10 days; though we will be trying to activate in 2-3 working days normally. 4. This activation procedure is meant for members who have purchased an EVDO handset along with OMH Sim Card (like Samsumg Galaxy POP, Corby, SCH 369, SCH 239, LG 510 Cookie, LG 235 etc.) from Reliance for which the EVDO parameters are already registered in OMH Sim Card with Reliance. The number/connection of the member should be on either an OMH SIM Card or a Non Sim handset which is having EVDO Facility and whose EVDO Parameters are also registered with Reliance. 5. An SMS will arrive on the member's handset regarding a request being registered at a Reliance Outlet and asking for overall experience. Member needs to either reply with "YES" or leave it. Please DO NOT reply with "NO". If we get a "NO" SMS from any member, then this project for EVDO Activation shall be closed immediately. And after getting EVDO Activated, Memeber may confirm us by posting here in this thread. Regards Amit Jain -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Read This: How is EVDO activated on Reliance CDMA? There are two steps for EVDO Activation First, the parameters of EVDO should be registered for the handset in Reliance Server. In case of OMH SIM Card and Official Reliance BlackBerry having EVDO (BlackBerry 9630, 9650, 9230, Style etc.) and Official Reliance Non SIM EVDO Handsets (Like - Samsung Atlas, Coolpad N900), the parameters are already registered with Reliance. And in case of Imported handsets, you need to check whether your EVDO parameters are registered with Reliance or not. We are NOT here for REGISTERING THE EVDO PARAMATERS of imported handsets. Second step is after your EVDO Paramters are available in Reliance Server, EVDO won't start automatically. We have to submit request for EVDO; WE ARE HERE DOING THIS WORK ONLY in this thread. We have seen many members asking for help to do this as Customer Care is clueless about it and that is why we are helping here. Additional Notes: * Making EVDO work on imported handset requires programming the handset with necessary HSD PRL's, HSD username and password in addition to the handset parameters being registered in Reliance Servers. That is outside the scope of this initiative. You may contact your handset seller for necessary assistance to register EVDO parameters at Reliance and configure in your handset if your handset's MEID/ESN is registered with Reliance. * We can activate EVDO on BlackBerry handsets only if you have active BIS Service (CDMA) on the handset. In Case of BlackBerry handsets, member will not get any Service Request SMS. We will get EVDO activated on BlackBerry handsets directly from AAA Phongen Team. * To configure handset like Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA: Go to Setting > Wireless > Mobile Network > APN > Add new APN > Username = MDN (10 digit number) Password = MDN (10 digit number) Homepage – www.google.com Save it and then select it as default. You can use now as per your NetConnect Traiff plan You can change NetConnect plans by calling: 180030005555 All data plans available for Reliance Mobile CDMA can be found in this topic plan details.doc plan details_smaller_file.pdf

1 pointIt has Atom N435 processor which was launched sometime back by intel as a low cost proposition. It's single core, underclocked at 1.33 Ghz, has lower power TDP rating of 5 W instead of 6.5 W for N455. Basically it's a very stripped down version of N455 to reduce cost and offer cheaper netbooks. It also has only 3 Cell battery. In addition it comes with MeeGo OS and not windows. While windows may be installed but it can be a drag. Could be useful only if the usage is going to be very very light and no multi apps, HD. IMHO spending Rs 1,000/1,500 more for a dual core atom with 6 cell battery netbook is worth it.

Also, I referred 1 of my Wimax Frustrated Friend to go for this last week and he is rocking with this connection now. Few TIPS :- Connection will be activated in a minute, reliance store (web world) guys will do it for you. Current Cost - 1599 official cost (Its 1399 in only few places, just ask them for this price, who knows u might be lucky) Tariff - Go for 1 Re/- recharge YES only 1 rupee recharge and you will get 10 GB data valid for 30 months, YES this is available for new customers. My friend also got it last week. Next month onwards you can recharge according to your wish (I will suggest you to go for Rs 800/- recharge from next month onwards which gives you unlimited data..but only 5gb with BB and after than 1x speed but unlimited ). Let me know if any questions .. Njoyyyy and welcome to RIMWEB. -Raj

1 pointwell i have been trying very many combination since last 3 or 4 months with my fascinate to get best reception, 3G speeds and NO MISSED CALL issues. And i can confirm That the LATEST 2.2.2 ED05 LEAK is a real deal, its the snappiest of all the STOCK official and Leak ROMs for the fassy that is among D101, Dl09, DL30, EB01. and IT HAS CERTAINLY FIXED the notorious MISSED CALL ISSUE ( as far as i am concerned, yay!!!! ) I have been using it from past 4 days and i can say its the BEST setup after the debloated, debinged, deodexed Ed01 that i was using before. Its easy to install it as well !!! Just FLASH the .TAR file via ODIN through the PDA section and have Peace folks. If you have been using the TOUCHWIZ ROMS like the community or evil fascination or Stock ones, there is no need to flash the PIT file But if you are currently on the AOSP or MIUI structure which have diff file systems then you ll need the PIT file to repartition. here are the MEDIAFIRE DOWNLOAD links to the ED05. It contains the main ODIN TAR file for ed05 ROM and if someone needs then it also has the PIT file. http://www.mediafire.com/?d95vgygkk9d75sq http://www.mediafire.com/?23qdsakjrraqqdj Once installed ROOT it and use TITANIUM BACKUP to kill all verizon services as well as that crappy City id ;P If anyone wants i can outline later the process to safely root it as well. ED05 is NOT OFFICIAL till now, its just another a LEAK and personally i am of the opinion that its been deliberately leaked by VZN itself to get a response of this before finally releasing the missed call fix over the air for the fascinate users in US DISCLAIMER : as i have seen, the fascinates differ a lot in their response to Roms, kernels and radios : Although this has been a GENERAL review about this particular LEAK but still do it all at ur own risk , I or RIMWEB will not be responsible for anything wrong that happens to your devise

1 pointFirst of all, Prepaid NetConnect Broadband+ or NetConnect 3G USB Stick takes only 30 seconds to get activated. (If you buy from some experienced Reliance Store) Secondly, Your friend brought a USB is NetConnect Broadband+? Are you sure? Because it doesnot contain SIM Card, as NetConnect Stick works on NON SIM. and 3G (GSM) Stick works with SIM Card. You can buy a new stick @ Rs.1599 from any store and recharge with Rs.330 and get 5GB Data free for first month.
