This is indeed an achievement, if not a subsidized product. No prooduct is perfect so why talk about resistive screen? 2K is just amazing.

Actually very few hundred / thousand of the millions of R-CDMA customers are aware of the fantastic imported CDMA handsets at great prices we have available here on forum. Same for MTS-Tata. So they see only those stupid 1000 buck handsets and naturally are migrating to GSM in droves, which is a great tragedy actually. Some out of the box thinking is required in co-ordination with Reliance to address this issue and how imported handsets can reach a larger CDMA customer base easily. They may not launch such handsets directly but if some mechanism can be introduced to make it available to a larger customer base.

<< This service is not active anymore, so requests will NOT be accepted now. Please check: >> Ok guys... Now we are available here on RIMweb.in to provide the EVDO activation to Aam Admi who are unable to get it through the Reliance Contact Centre and/or Reliance Outlets. Following are the rules and regulations:- 1. EVDO Activation Request will be processed only for RIMweb.in Registered members having more than 10 posts. 2. Members need to send an email from the email address registered with your RIMweb.in profile with the following details to: evdo@rimweb.com or evdo@rimweb.in (please send to either one only and not both!!) RIMweb.in member username (this is the forum registration member profile username so that we can check your post count and NOT your full name) MDN - 10 Digit Number RSN - RSN Number of the handset/OMH Sim Card Handset - with model # Alternate Contact Number - Any Alternate Mobile Number to which a confirmatory call shall come from Mumbai Reliance Headquarters for EVDO Confirmation. 3. After sending the email the member will receive a confirmation email within the next 7 days. Members cannot make any irate demands for the activation of EVDO. We shall pick up the numbers once in a week for activation and the member should understand that it may take upto 10 days; though we will be trying to activate in 2-3 working days normally. 4. This activation procedure is meant for members who have purchased an EVDO handset along with OMH Sim Card (like Samsumg Galaxy POP, Corby, SCH 369, SCH 239, LG 510 Cookie, LG 235 etc.) from Reliance for which the EVDO parameters are already registered in OMH Sim Card with Reliance. The number/connection of the member should be on either an OMH SIM Card or a Non Sim handset which is having EVDO Facility and whose EVDO Parameters are also registered with Reliance. 5. An SMS will arrive on the member's handset regarding a request being registered at a Reliance Outlet and asking for overall experience. Member needs to either reply with "YES" or leave it. Please DO NOT reply with "NO". If we get a "NO" SMS from any member, then this project for EVDO Activation shall be closed immediately. And after getting EVDO Activated, Memeber may confirm us by posting here in this thread. Regards Amit Jain -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Read This: How is EVDO activated on Reliance CDMA? There are two steps for EVDO Activation First, the parameters of EVDO should be registered for the handset in Reliance Server. In case of OMH SIM Card and Official Reliance BlackBerry having EVDO (BlackBerry 9630, 9650, 9230, Style etc.) and Official Reliance Non SIM EVDO Handsets (Like - Samsung Atlas, Coolpad N900), the parameters are already registered with Reliance. And in case of Imported handsets, you need to check whether your EVDO parameters are registered with Reliance or not. We are NOT here for REGISTERING THE EVDO PARAMATERS of imported handsets. Second step is after your EVDO Paramters are available in Reliance Server, EVDO won't start automatically. We have to submit request for EVDO; WE ARE HERE DOING THIS WORK ONLY in this thread. We have seen many members asking for help to do this as Customer Care is clueless about it and that is why we are helping here. Additional Notes: * Making EVDO work on imported handset requires programming the handset with necessary HSD PRL's, HSD username and password in addition to the handset parameters being registered in Reliance Servers. That is outside the scope of this initiative. You may contact your handset seller for necessary assistance to register EVDO parameters at Reliance and configure in your handset if your handset's MEID/ESN is registered with Reliance. * We can activate EVDO on BlackBerry handsets only if you have active BIS Service (CDMA) on the handset. In Case of BlackBerry handsets, member will not get any Service Request SMS. We will get EVDO activated on BlackBerry handsets directly from AAA Phongen Team. * To configure handset like Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA: Go to Setting > Wireless > Mobile Network > APN > Add new APN > Username = MDN (10 digit number) Password = MDN (10 digit number) Homepage – www.google.com Save it and then select it as default. You can use now as per your NetConnect Traiff plan You can change NetConnect plans by calling: 180030005555 All data plans available for Reliance Mobile CDMA can be found in this topic plan details.doc plan details_smaller_file.pdf

I must thank Avishek a lot for apprising about this fantastic launch. I bought an OMH RUIM, and then activated it with HSD. The guys here at my place were not ready to recharge my number with Rs. 97.99. Avishek took all the pain to recharge my new number from his place. I'm now having this EVDO of MTS - 2GB for a month for only Rs. 97.99 I'm writing this post with this connection. Below is the speedtest result.

I have been dealing with Mobile Phones for last 10 years, and DOA policy as of now for most of the brands is:- If customer gets any defect within 2 days of purchase, he need to go to the Retailer from where he purchased with DOA Certificate from ASC and get it changed, though it may take time upto 7-10 days or Retailer may give new piece from his own stock and dont wait for Manufacturer to replace it. Different vendors have different policy. Mukesh Ji - Surely Indiaplaza has to change it with DOA Certificate, if they are refusing, knock the door of Consumer Complaint Centre and lodge complaint against them.

Kindle Fire costs $210 To Make, $199 To Buy, Where is Amazon’s Profit? Source The most important question that remained unanswered till now was the cost of manufacturing of Kindle Fire tablet. Companies never reveal such details, but research companies like iSuppli estimate the spending and in this case according to the preliminary figure, Kindle Fire’s bill of materials (BOM) cost at $191.65. With the addition of manufacturing expenses, the total cost to produce the Kindle Fire rises to $209.63. So, with a spending of around $210, how will Amazon make money when it is going to sell Kindle Fire for just $199. The initial profit or even recovering the cost of manufacturing will come directly from the sale of digital content – e-books, videos, apps and music. Company will also look to sell its Prime membership to its users by first giving a free taste of it along with Fire and then charging $79 of a year’s worth. According to IHS, the expected sales of digital contents will give Amazon a marginal profit of just $10, but the real money is going to come from the sale of physical goods. This business model is unique to Amazon. No other tablet brand or e-book reader operates such a broad retail service, which generated $34 billion in revenue in 2010. Conversely no other retailer can offer a tablet specifically designed to promote sales of its goods. It is similar to the razor-blade model followed by Gillette that sells razors at a loss and makes up the difference from profitable sales of blades later, explained IHS iSuppli Analyst Wayne Lam to Reuters. But, this is a lot if Amazon is looking to make a profit in these lines and these are some really big expectations as there is no other company that has been able to sell more than the digital content with the help of tablets. Amazon has a big road in front of it and it has what is needed to change the scenario.

Most CDMA handset users believe that changing handset is not possible. Unless new handset is bought from reliance or tata ONLY. Also CDMA can never ever provide data tariff as good as GSM because of inherent weaknesses. Reliance and Tata both are typical Indian companies whose employees are not empowered to do any thing.

Well considering that CDMA networks have been providing much better data services, I think they should provide better data plans for users on mobiles which will ensure that people migrate back to these networks. In the absence of such alluring plans, people find it simply easier to just shift to a GSM network. Another reason, IMHO could be the availability of good OMH handsets in the GSM market, supported by warranty and good service centres, something which is absent as of now in the CDMA domain. The only good handsets available for CDMA users are those which are more of less grey market since most are hacked handsets of US CDMA networks. Addressing these two core issues would make users want to continue using CDMA networks. I have talked to subscribers of most networks and have realised that the kind of network available for CDMA networks simply does not exist as far as GSM is concerned, especially where I am at present. GSM networks are plagued by call drops, call congestion and the likes, something which I personally have not encountered being a prepaid Reliance customer for the past 3-4 years. To summarise, the overall trend of people using MNP to move out of CDMA networks can be addressed effectively if operators like Reliance and Tata are willing to: - (a) Provide better data plans for mobiles (B ) Ensure availability of better handsets (OMH or even network dependent) All of the above again is just my personal opinion and I do not vouch for 100% accuracy.
