If you are talking MTS network, the answer is no for any imported handset in your budget of Rs 5,000 because AFAIK nobody does imported handset MEID registration in Kolkata Circle for MTS. Change to Reliance Network and then Palm Pixi will fit in your budget as well as the following options. According to members here & from the research I have done, I think the best alternative available is to go for mmx 300c or 310c from micromax. Both are available at around 2k from flipkart. I agree on the same ,when I went to get my connection theywere only having prithvi.So I only got the sim and did not buy the modem. My hunt for a temporary modem continues till the one I have ordered from US comes in.

After sending the email the member will receive a confirmation email within the next 7 days. Members cannot make any irate demands for the activation of EVDO. We have seen many members asking for help to do this as Customer Care is clueless about it and that is why we are helping here. Additional Notes: * Making EVDO work on imported handset requires programming the handset with necessary HSD PRL's, HSD username and password in addition to the handset parameters being registered in Reliance Servers.
