2 pointsHOW TO GET A SAFE CWM RECOVERY ON YOUR ROOTED FI03 ROM + HOW TO REMOVE BLOATWARE FROM ANY GB OR ICS ROM Ok i am back with a major thing now. This all concerns only FI03 rooted users who dont have any recovery installed as yet. I did my own testing ( yeah call my white Epic a guineapig for the community ) ok in here i will be outlining how people on FI03 Rooted can 1.. flash a safe RECOVERY + kernel combo 2.. Flash a special script from the awesome ( retired ) Developer Calkulin, which will remove all the un needed bloatware and apks from your ROM , which will free up a hell amount of memory + cpu usage and hence possibly battery consumption as well. files 1.. Stock FI03 Kernel + agat recovery http://www.mediafire...3g4ffz6i65hivc3 MD5 : 402418D90229560F445D4E59CEC560CA 2.. Mobile odin apk - which will be used to flash the above recovery http://www.mediafire...abre24uub8cvmo0 MD5 : 2271130077D55C69AC3367CFAD4F5E9E 3... Calkulin's Bare ROM Converter v2.1 [ Works on any GB & ICS ROM ] - a script which once flashed via CWM will remove the un necessary crap from any GB or ICS rom ( cool na ? ) http://www.mediafire...cowav2cr5hna0z7 MD5 : 152936DFA815F2B226808AFB81794CB3 always chk the integrity of the downloaded file before flashing , by matching the MD5 Installation and steps of usage. 1... download file 1 and store in your phone memory or SD card 2.. download and install file 2 aka MOBILE ODIN 3.. download and store file 3 aka BARE ROM CONVERTER to your phone's internal or external memory. PART 1 4..1) Open Mobile Odin. 2) Select "Open File". 3) Select either "Internal SD-card" or "External SD-card" (depending on where you saved the TAR file you downloaded in step one). 4) Browse to the TAR file. 5) Select "Flash firmware". 6) Select "Continue". 7) Select "Check" to verify the MD5 signature. The phone will now automatically reboot. This will take slightly longer than usual, this is normal. once booted there will be a screen showing updation of xxx apps and stuff and once all is finished you will be on a FI03 stock kernel but with a very very safe CWM recovery , thru which one can easily flash stuff without the fear of bricking. you can boot into the recovery by switching off the phone and then pressing Vol Up + POWER button simultaneously till samsung galaxy logo appears PART 2 a.. Boot into recovery b.. make a nandroid backup by goi8ng to backup and restore and then backup > and now move on This elaborates about how you can uninstall and remove the bloatware from your STOCK ROOTED FI03 or any other GB and ICS ROM for the E4GT 1... download FILE 3 above if you havent already and store in the root of the storage of your phone 2.. Shutdown the phone 3.. PRESS and HOLD vol up + power button together till samsung galaxy SII logo flashes ,,leave the buttons now you will boot into AGAT recovery , which is green in color 4.. simply use the option to install zip file and scroll to where you have stored the file that you downloaded called BARE ROM CONVERTER and flash it ( use up and down vol buttons to scroll up and down + use power button to select an option ) 5.. it will take just 2 or 3 seconds max lol 6.. go to reboot menu option and press power button > select reboot system and press power button 7.. you will be rebooted 8.. the phone will show android is updating screen > once finished you are on a ROMJ from which all the bloatware and un needed crap has been removed.

1 pointLATEST UPDATE 01-03-13 : GB08 Stock Jellybean =================================================================================================================== FK09 JELLYBEAN LEAK FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY SII EPIC 4G TOUCH - 20/11/12 Ok !!!! since yesterday night i have been using the JB leak , and its by far stable enough, Barring TWO calls related issues which i have mentioned below and which can be by and larger easily sorted ( may be not 100% ) So sharing the First Properly working and really awesome LEAK of JB for EPIC 4G TOUCH Personal Review : its awesome , so many options and so damnh smooth and crisp looking , i have fallen in love with my E4GT again , If you havent tried it already then go and download and come back later to Thank me ( for leeching and posting the link ;P , all i did was simplify the flashing process ) Download : ( this is the stock rooted No data verison ) MD5 of the 7Zip file - CE6FFD872CE180F3ACAF24FB7A4CFF78 Direct Link to 438MB single file - Click here 100MB Mediafire links for easy download - ( i downloaded the One click odin exe and then split it into 100MB parts and uploaded to mediafire so that all can easily download ) http://www.mediafire...2cjvobop41f433v http://www.mediafire...of41476asd6u0c6 http://www.mediafire...352ek66v6g5oh6t http://www.mediafire...4zppti91a5ppzx8 http://www.mediafire...v9z0h4jt1jabuz6 If you dont have 7Zip - Click here to download 7Zip archiver Instructions : The version above is STOCK FL09 rooted No data - that is when you will flash this on your existing GB or ICS structure , you will not lose any data , apps etc. 1.. Download 2.. use 7Zip to extract the one click odin file , right click > 7Zip > extract > and double click to open the ODIN window 3.. just make a nandroid of your current setup to be on safe side 4.. turn off phone 5.. hit and press Vol down and power button together for 5 seconds > then hit volume up to get in download mode 6.. connect phone with PC > it ll show as a yellow com port in ODIN window 7.. Hit start and PROFIT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ KNOWN Issues ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please read carefully - this is important if you are planning or have flashed the Fk09 the most ( and i hope the only ) evident bug in Fk09 is phone freezing , and becoming totally unresponsive if a call is received from or made to a contact in your phonebook with a pictures. The easiest method is 1.. download contact picture remover app from playstore and install it 2.. switch off your data connection 3.. run the app and it will remove all pictures from your contacts 4.. once you do this > go to settings > accounts > google > and tap the gmail account in which you have stored all your contacts > UNCHECK the SYNC CONTACTS option 5.. and thats it , you can now switch on the data Plz note from now on whatever contact you are gonna create in your phone , will only be stored in phone only and it wont get updated to your address book in gmail account , so plz keep it in mind Once a new leak or official OTA comes which has the above bug fixed you can start the contacts syncing again. , till then you wont be able to see the pictures of your contacts on ur phone. BUG no 2 and its imp . while on calls your end will get muted intermittently, its called the MUTE BUG kinna nuisance but can be fixed by turning off proximity censor in call settings and by setting the screen timeout to may be 10 min 1.. hit phone > hit menu button > go to turn off screen while on call option and untick it . 2.. settings > display > screen timeout > set it to 10 min the key is to not let the screen turn off the entire time you are talking . this should fix it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE : 25-09-12 : scroll down to find SUPER GALAXY ROM HOW TO UPDATE YOUR EPIC TOUCH TO THE LATEST ICS LEAK - FI03 - as on 14-09-12 I am using FI03 myself and i can safely say its not at all a battery HOG as the other ICS updates before this. Signal strength is also better. Try it download these : 1.. usb drivers for your pc if you havent installed already http://org.downloadc...v1_3_2360_0.exe 2.. ONE CLICK ODIN PACKAGES a... FULL DATA RESET , ROOTED build http://garwynn.rainm..._Restore_v2.exe md5: 8d0c07376130d88ac58cf53a05d6c4c4 this build will reset / wipe all your data and apps , so use this if you want to revert to totally stock , rooted FI03 b... DATA preserve, rooted build http://garwynn.rainm...d_Nodata_v2.exe md5: 91fbac1a18f7e7bb9ae4f5efc632d8e2 this build will update your phone to rooted FI03 , but it will not wipe or touch your apps and your data , so if you are on any earlier build then try and use this - recommended 3.. 7zip archiver - this is needed to unzip the above mentioned files http://www.7-zip.org/download.html Please note These ODIN packages are pretty safe, but its always useful to read the DISCLAIMER at the botton of the post FILE 1 aka 2a - is meant for those who want to start from scratch , that file once flashed will put your phone in total stock condition of FI03 , but with ROOT FILE 2 aka 2b - is meant for you if you have quite much of data and many apps installed and you dont want to redo the downloading of them and setting em up. The second file has been made in such a way that while odining/flashing it will not create a DATA folder itself so your previous data will be totally preserved. If after flashing FILE 2 , you feel some or the other glitches then my suggestion would be to FLASH FILE 1 . STEP BY STEP FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS 1.... If you havent installed SAMSUNG USB DRIVERS then do it now - link is there above., 2... If you were on any previous rooted build then its better to backup your apps ( with mybackup root ) and contacts ( with either mybackup root or super backup) on your SD card. 3.... unzip the above mentioned files ( whichever suits you ) using 7zip > you will get a One click odin .exe file > double click it and it will show you a odin window 4.... Power down phone Wait for capacitative button lights to turn off .( please note its better to let the phone to get completely turned off ) Simultaneously Press and Hold [Power] and [VolDn] until a confirmation screen appears, after that Press [VolUp] to enter Download mode 5.... Now you are in download mode > connect your PHONE with the PC using the usb cable > your phone will show in a yellow box in the just opened odin window. with a yellow COM PORT NUMBER ( please make sure that you are using a good usb cable ) If you dont see a yellow port number on ODIN then reboot your PC and start over If you still dont see your phone after connecting then remove phone from PC , Uninstall the previously installed usb drivers reboot PC Reinstall the same drivers and try again 6.... hit start - in a few minutes the flash will complete and PASS or success will display on ODIN window in green color. Onec done , either the phone will reboot itself or you can reboot it urself. Now upon reboot , you are on stock FH03 - Rooted - with all your user data still intact if you used FILE 2 or totally stock if you used FILE 1 Have fun !!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HOW TO UPDATE YOUR EPIC TOUCH TO SUPER GALAXY ROM V1.8 - FI03 based - as on 25-09-12 Ok from past 10 days i have been testing a lot of ROMS ( still giving ICS a shot , havent given up on it ;P ) , Out of the 4 that i have tested i found SUPER GALAXY ROM as the best Highlights : 1.. 1 point@ n_iceman : hppy to hera that it booted up fine . S2 is pretty hard for people like me who were used to flash anything with their eyes closed on the fascinate Btw i have installed a CWM recovery as well on this along with stock kernel ( pretty rare ), the one that is considered one of very few thru which you can flash new ROMs and wipe data ( without the fear of bricking ) will give it a go by flashing some newer ROMS and if i am satisfied with everything then i am gonna share the method here. Btw Still would like all you SII owners to comment about the display quality as well as the camera qulaity in more detail.

1 pointYa... I can agree in paying premium for their favorite phone... But waiting in line ONE WEEK BEFORE release is Don't they have any useful work to do??? Or they have huge loads of sooo much money and too little brain??? Nothing wrong in calling them as what they are generally called (by name of domestic animal)... NO, I am NOT calling all iPhone fans as it... But who waste their precious time for NOTHING worth...
-
1 pointNo that do not work. For Motorola you need to zero nv 8035 for hdr user name and password to stick. Is evdo active from reliance back end? If not first call them activate evdo on your handset

1 point10 ways Android beats the iPhone 5 Apple may have mollified the masses by adding significantly better specs to its smartphone offering, but when it comes to innovation, the iPhone 5 just can’t compete with the latest Android handsets. Sure a larger screen, 4G LTE support and a faster CPU are welcome additions to the world’s number one phone, but Apple is a year late and $199 short, because Android has provided all these features and more for some time now. In fact, even after Apple’s johnny-come-lately improvements, Android phones have a number of key advantages over the iPhone 5. Screens larger than 4 inches Apple may be patting itself on the back over its move from a 3.5-inch to a 4-inch display, but in the smartphone size race, the iPhone 5 trails the field by a wide margin. In the Android world, the 4.3-inch Droid RAZR M is considered a "compact" phone, the 4.8-inch Galaxy S III is mainstream and the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II is large. Why would you want a phone with a larger screen? A larger display makes videos more exciting, text easier to read, and keys on the keyboard easier to target with your finger. And if for some reason that doesn't appeal to you, the Android ecosystem also has smaller phones. NFC support If you own an iPhone 5, you can just forget about using mobile payment systems that let you touch your device to a reader in order to conduct a transaction. Instead of MasterCard's Tap and Pay, you'll be using tap and pray as you rap your fingers on a table and hope that Apple provides NFC support on the iPhone 6 in 2013. With NFC support, the latest Android phones can not only send out payments, but also share photos, contacts, videos and more, just by tapping their backs together. Since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the OS has built-in NFC sharing software called Android Beam that any third party application can use for seamless sharing. Task management appAny.Do even lets you beam assignments to friends and family. I'm sure Apple will add this functionality just in time for iOS 8. Custom widgets on your home screen Congratulations iPhone 5 users! You now get an extra row of icons that you didn't have with the iPhone 4 and 4S. That means you can see your TweetDeck icon and tap on it without scrolling over. The Times Square billboard writes itself: "iPhone 5: Now with More Icons!" However, if you use any Android phone, you get more than just a static set of application icons on your 5 to 7 home screens. You have a working desktop you can fill with interactive widgets that show everything from the weather to your latest social media updates. I particularly dig thecircles widget that Motorola includes on its Android phones, which shows you battery life, time, text alerts and local weather. A micro USB port rather than a proprietary connector If you're like me, you have a drawer full of USB cables and, if you can't find one, you can always buy another on any street corner. When you upgrade from an old phone to a new one, you can still use the same old wires and charging plugs, because micro USB is a standard. In fact, the European Union requires phone manufacturers to use micro USB for charging, because it reduces waste as users hold on to their old cables rather than tossing them in a landfill. Unfortunately, the iPhone 5 uses a proprietary connector it calls "Lightning" instead of standard micro USB, but gets around the EU regulation by offering an adapter. Why not just use micro USB like every other company? Then you couldn't make a mint selling proprietary wires and making every iPhone 4S owner that upgrades buy new accessories, because older iPhones had an even larger proprietary dock connector. Third-party software keyboards With the iPhone 5, you can have any keyboard you want as long as its the stock iOS 6 keyboard. If you're using Android and you don't love Google's default layout, you're free to install a third-party keyboard that suits your needs. Some of the best Android keyboards include Swype, which lets you create words by tracing between letters on the keyboard, and SwiftKey, which predicts the next word in your sentence to save you keystrokes. Heck, you can even buy an Android slider like the Motorola Droid 4, which has a real physical keyboard. What if you need to send your boss a PowerPoint presentation, a Word doc or some other type of file? You will need to have an app that opens that kind of file, go to that app and send the file from there. In other words, there's no way to simply attach the file(s) of your choice when composing email in iOS mail. There are workarounds and third-party apps that address this problem, but Apple's approach here could not be lamer.Attach any files you want to your email Apple doesn't gamble on immature technologies so perhaps its understandable that the company has yet to include this new-fangled thing called "email attachments" on its iPhone 5. While previous versions of iOS Mail didn't even present you with any attachment options in its message composer, the new iOS 6 mail on the iPhone 5 gives you the option to attach images or video only. Just like Windows or Mac OS, Android allows you to attach any files you want to any email message. Whether you're using the Gmail app, its stock email app or any of a dozen third party email clients, there's always a prominent attachment option on the composition screen and, when you hit it , you're able to browse your gallery, your file system or any other apps you've installed that organize files (Dropbox, Quickoffice, etc). Share using any service you want With Android, every relevant app from the browser to the photo gallery includes a share button. When you tap share, you're given an extensive and universal list of apps you can share with. And that list grows, depending on what software and services you have installed, from Facebook to your SMS messenger to Bluetooth transfers. So if, for example, you join Pinterest and install its app, you can share directly to that from any app with a search button. Rather than providing you with one share list to rule them all, the iPhone 5 lets each app developer create his or her own share menu, which has a finite list of services that developer feels like supporting. The default Safari browser and iOS photo gallery apps can only share to Facebook, Twitter, email and messaging. Google, Flickr, Pinterest, Google Talk and any of 100 other services need not apply. Laptop Visible file system Try plugging an Android phone into your PC and mounting it as a storage device. You'll have access to all the files and folders, just as you do when you browse through your WIndows computer's C drive. So, if you want to copy a raft of MP3s or PowerPoint presentations to your Android handset, you can just drag and drop them. Say you record a memo with Droid Record and want to grab its output files. You can navigate down to its folder and move, copy or share them directly from there. If you run a file browser on the phone itself, you can also dive into the file system from there. So what happens when you plug the iPhone 5 into your PC? You get access the digital camera (DCIM) folder only so all you can do is drag and drop pictures. Yes, you can iTunes to transfer media files back and forth, but you still can't go directly into file system because Apple just doesn't trust you enough to let you see the folders on the iPhone 5 that you bought from them. Whose phone is it anyway? Haptic feedback Most Android phones offer optional haptic feedback, which allows you to get a nice tactile vibration when you type, long press on the screen or tap the navigation buttons. While some people dislike haptics, the vibrations give you a strong acknowledgement that your touch has registered so you don't have to tap twice. Unfortunately, with the iPhone 5, you don't have a choice; just a flat screen that provides no feedback. Pen support "If you see a stylus, they blew it," Steve jobs famously said of pen-enabled computing and, like its predecessors, the iPhone 5 does not support pen input. Yes, you can get third-party capacitive styluses that will work on the iPhone 5, but these little sticks do nothing more than give you a thinner finger. Want to scribble down some notes like you do on paper? On Android, you can. Samsung's Galaxy Note and LG's Intuition both offer large screens, active styluses and deep pen integration into the operating system. On the upcoming Galaxy Note II, you can hand write notes on your calendar, on the backs of JPGs and in half a dozen other places throughout the OS. You can even get previews of emails, photos and videos by hovering the Galaxy Note II's stylus slightly above the screen. 10 ways Android beats the iPhone 5 - GadgetBox on NBCNews.com Another major thing the author missed is PRICE!!!

1 pointI can agree the decision of apple to stop AirHell from bringing iPhone5, as they will keep price ridiculously high and LOCK it also and hence very low sales (relatively to unlocked) figures... But Aircel has done good sales by keeping price low (though model is outdated), the only reason I can guess is "Aircel may have diluted brand value by selling for very cheap"... ------------------------------------------------------------ Reg Benchmarks, I don't care much about Antuntu, pontuntu, nenebench or any sh!tty benchmarks.. For me the real life benchmark for a high end phone for day to day life is:- 1) Playing 1080p videos without breaking sweat (Max load, I love to give my phone) 2) Multitasking without slowing phone So my current RazrMAXX and GNexus are more than enough for me wrt performance and iPhone is NO-NO for me (I hate fake-mutitasking)... I don't care if the phone comes with OctoCore or 256Core CPU... ---------------------------------------------------------------- @Dipan ji, I agree... Initially, I don't have any hard feelings for iPhone/iDevices.. Just that, iPhone is NOT for me due to its closed nature... But now I have started hating iDevices due to the unethical nature of the apple...

1 pointIf you have to justify then it's better of not to purchase, no offence. Smart phones costing 10k and 50k don't differ much except for the flaunt value, so unless you've money to burn and no one to answer to, don't spend 50k on any phone, let alone the iPhone. Please excuse typos and brevity, sent while mobile.

1 pointMulti Function Printing Devices Buying Guide If you are considering buying an MFD, read on, because by the time you are through, you will be in a position to make an informed buying decision. An MFD or a Multifunction Device is omnipresent in today's offices. The good thing about an MFD is that it is one device, which can do it all - print, scan, copy and fax, thus eliminating the need to have several different devices for these functions. MFDs save on expensive office desk space too. They also increase the productivity of your workforce simply by taking away the need to make trips between different devices, as everything is at your disposal at one place. Similarly, the cost of maintenance is also significantly lower. The downside to MFDs is that there may be an increased downtime because, if one of the components, such as the scanner malfunctions, then you will not be able to use the copier as well as the fax-sending function. However, you will be able to still print as well as receive faxes. MFDs are available in two flavors - Inkjet and Laser, and Lasers are further divided into monochrome and color. Inkjet MFDs are less expensive as compared to Laser MFDs due to the inherent lower cost of production, but Lasers tend to be more cost effective when the volumes are high and also they are comparatively more rugged and heavy duty. Therefore, if you are a SoHo, you can choose between Inkjet and entry-level Lasers. If you are an SMB or an enterprise, heavier duty Laser MFDs should be your choice. If you work in the photography or multimedia field, then an Inkjet photo-MFD should be your choice, because color Lasers do not even come close to the color printing quality of Inkjets. Color MFDs are good for offices, which need to print presentations such as documents with graphs, since an excellent photo quality is not what is expected in this case. Though MFDs are primarily targeted at offices, they are finding a new level of acceptance and usage at homes as well. The major cause of this happening is the plummeting costs - an entry-level MFD today costs as much as a printer was priced just a couple of years ago. Having one such inexpensive MFD at home will save you a trip to the photocopy centre or even to the local cybercafe to get a quick print. Here some features that you need to pay attention to and will help you decide better about your purchase (for both Inkjet as well as Laser MFDs). Buffer memory: The larger the buffer memory the better will an MFD perform; as far as printing is concerned. Larger buffer allows the printer to accept large documents and images directly into the buffer, without the need to spool it in the PC, thus increasing the printing speed. ADF (Automatic Document Feeder): ADF allows you to scan or copy a stack of documents without you having to be present near the MFD to manually keep feeding them one by one. Not of much use for a home or SoHo user, this is a feature that is of importance for larger offices. Duplex printing: Duplex printing is a printer feature that lets you print to both sides of the paper, without having to manually feed the paper back into the MFD. Since this saves time, it increases productivity, but increases the cost of the unit. Again, this is of more importance in larger offices. Paper tray capacity: The paper capacity of the tray should ideally be more than 100 for an office; a smaller capacity will do if it is for home use. Additional trays are also available to be attached to some MFDs, so check if this feature is available if your business is a rapidly expanding one. Speed and resolution: You must find out the PPM or pages per minute that the MFD is capable of printing. This is very important, more so for businesses, where time saved is money earned. PPM and resolutions is different for Printing, scanning, copying and faxing, so pay attention to them. These are claimed values and are never really achievable, but these are indicative of the performance. Duty cycle (for Laser MFDs): The number of pages that the printer can print in a month at default quality settings is known as the monthly duty cycle of the printer, while the toner duty cycle is the total number of pages that the toner can print. You should obviously look for a higher duty cycle. Networking capability: Generally the more expensive ones, network MFDs are should be preferred only if you want an MFD to cater to many users (more than 10) on a large network. For smaller networks, any standard MFD can be configured for network printing as long as it is connected to a computer on the network. Media size: The most commonly accepted printer media size is A4 and it is good enough for home as well as office. For CAD professionals, larger media size is required and therefore warrants a larger and more expensive device supporting such a media size. In certain offices such as legal departments, Legal size is more accepted and therefore a scanner with such size should be chosen, again these are more expensive. Fax: Save some money by getting an MFD sans fax if this feature is not going to be used at all. You can always use the PC fax feature instead, as it works just as good as long as the PC to which the MFD is connected is powered on. Power consumption: Laser MFDs usually consume power that is usually larger than 300 W. This is an important thing to note as this increases the running cost of the MFD. Inkjets consume a lot less power. Warranty: Check the type of warranty offered. Laser MFDs are large and heavy; lugging them around is not feasible, so make sure your model is covered by an on-site warranty. Check with other customers about the reliability and effectiveness of the support of a brand before you go for it. It is often seen that some brands have a stronger support in specific regions of the country and this could be too vital to be missed. Bundled Software: The bundled software is one neglected point that you should pay attention to. Some come with OCR software, which saves you the cost of purchasing a third party OCR. Some come with utilities, which guide you to easily configure the MFD on the network. OS Support: Some MFDs come with Mac and Linux drivers, so make sure that the MFD you wish to buy comes with these if you happen use one of these alternative operating systems. Upgrade-ability: For a business that grows, the MFD should also be able to scale accordingly. Some of the upgrade options that you should be looking for are; additional memory, paper tray, etc. These will extend the functionality of the device. Copier-based or printer-based Laser MFD? Choose a printer engine-based MFD if you print more and copy less. Likewise, go for a copier engine-based MFD if you print less and copy more. The advantage of copier-based MFD over printer-based MFD is that it consists of separate toner and drum, allowing you to replace them individually. As they get spent, the toner is always the first to go, saving you money. In contrast to this, in a printer-based MFD, there is a single module of integrated toner and drum that has to be replaced even if any one (toner or drum) of them gets spent. This incurs higher expenses, but the costs of these MFDs are generally lower than copier-based MFDs. Understand your requirements: Ponder over whether you really need an MFD or would rather be better off with a printer. If the nature of your work is such that you rarely need to scan, OCR, or fax, then it is better to invest in a printer rather than an MFD. Some recommendations This guide cannot be complete without any recommendations from our end. We have created different categories of consumers and shall recommend a few MFDs. We would like to mention that these recommendations are purely on the features that are present in the MFD and performance has not been taken into account. For that to be taken into account, we need to test them.
