Verizon Galaxy Note II - GSM Unlock - Add APN Data - Remove Non-Verizon SIM Message Source Topic This is great info. We have one of the best phone now working with GSM Data. CDMA Voice with SIM Card should work without any change & CDMA Data through SIM can also be tried through this APN method. I think we may have another best seller on our hand after Incredible 2 which works on CDMA & GSM SIM Card with Data! How to add APN data: In order to get data working you have to add carrier specific data to the apns-conf.xml file. While you may have been able to do this is in the past on other devices under settings, VZW has blocked this. Method 1: Flashable mod (via custom recovery) that will enable the Add APN menu by removing Verizon's block.(For deodexed roms only) >> http://www.mediafire.com/?wqmad2ypgsyd75z This enables the apn editor under settings. Go to Settings, More Settings, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, menu button. Method 2: Ensure your phone is rooted adb pull /system/etc/apns-conf.xml Add the carrier data to apns-conf.xml with your favorite text/xml editor and save adb push your modified apn-conf.xml file back to /sdcard/ Copy this file back to /system/etc/ and change permissions (I use root explorer) Power down and change your SIM card (AT&T, T-mobile, whatever) if you hadn't already done so Power back on and go to Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names (if done properly you should see the APN data you entered for your respective carrier). Select one of the APN listings and then you should have working data Profit Removing the Non-Verizon SIM message When Using a Non Verizon SIM Card: This will occur on roms that include Samsung's Setup Wizard (including stock) - all others can ignore Method 1: - Freeze "Setup wizard 1.0" in Titanium Backup Method 2: Download THIS APK for a deodexed ROM only and replace the original in /system/app/, then reboot. Make sure that /system is mounted as read/write before copy/pasting, and also that you're on a deodexed ROM. After copying it over, reboot and you shouldn't have the ongoing notification anymore.

As the topic title says, I am asking if increasingly with the launch of bigger and bigger smartphones and "phablets", has the time come for us to switch to combination of a *smart tablet* and a *dumb phone* instead of carrying a smartphone AND a tablet? Cheaper use your data plan only on your 3G + wifi 7" or 10" tablet, avoid double data bills on tablet and phone dumb phones are cheap to buy and maintain [*]Easier a tablet is easier to use than a smartphone - bigger screen, better hardware - better user experience maintain all your data and use it on-the-go on one device (after all, convergence is the key!), no headache of keeping 2 (or more) devices synced Our good old Nokia phones were rock solid as only phones! No need to charge everyday, no need to worry about touchscreens getting scratched, no worry about dropping them! They worked great without pampering - something we cannot imagine with smartphones [*]Any other benefits? Already in developed countries like USA where wifi is everywhere and free, this trend is beginning to start. A quick google search shows many articles >> http://bit.ly/TQvfqU. Opinions?!

SwiftKey v3.1 adds Hindi and 'Hinglish' language support wiftKey, a popular keyboard app for Android devices, has added support for Hindi and Hinglish to its language portfolio. SwiftKey uses a blend of artificial intelligence technologies to predict the next word the user wants to type. Its ability to learn the users' typing habits and incorporate words beyond the standard dictionary, has made it a really popular app amongst the Android faithful. Giving a brief behind the scenes look at who the app works, the developers said, "Each language model is much more than a dictionary-like list of words. To be able to offer unrivalled accuracy and next word predictions, SwiftKey's models understand the way words work together. They are built by analysing enormous amounts of language data drawn from across the Internet." They further explained the work done to add Hindi and Hinglish support, "Hindi and Hinglish were produced by analysing and filtering content from sources such as the .in web domain in India. Using advanced Natural Language Processing techniques, SwiftKey can understand the context of what a user is writing." Perhaps SwiftKey's biggest strength lies in personalisation, and the developers explained how that works. "In addition to the language models, which enable SwiftKey to intelligently predict next words and correct your input, the app continually learns a user's individual writing style as they type. Users can further personalise SwiftKey by syncing it with their Gmail, Facebook, Twitter or blog presences." With the latest update, SwiftKey now includes support for 54 different languages. To mark the release of these languages and the v3.1 update to SwiftKey, both the smartphone and tablet versions will be on sale at half-price on Google Play. The full release notes for v3.1 are as follows: New Berry theme New languages: Armenian, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Hindi, Hinglish, Irish, Macedonian, Spanish (Latin America) and Tagalog Split keyboard for normal-sized devices Improved language pack downloads Improvements in key layouts on some keyboards Fixes for some force close issues SwiftKey 3 Keyboard (Android, Rs. 50 temporarily) SwiftKey 3 Tablet Keyboard (Android, Rs. 50 temporarily) http://gadgets.ndtv.com/apps/news/swiftkey-v31-adds-hindi-and-hinglish-language-support-307967

Not really a gadget but this is just rocking - cant imagine what it will do to wires Need just a little more length on your charging cable to reach the outlet? No problem: new wires filled with liquid metal could stretch up to eight times their original length. At some point soon, we'll have wireless everything--wireless charging, wireless syncing, wireless video, wireless audio. We've already got a lot of that stuff, in fact. But today, we still need wires and cables, and a new creation from researchers at North Carolina State University could make them much more usable--by making them stretchy. I have been using this way of charging from the day I mentioned about it in this thread. But earlier it was not use friendly. I practically had to use copper adhesive tape to connect the Wireless Charging port. See pic. Now it's more user friendly, no more adhesive copper tape, I had to cut the open a DC relay and remove the leaf contact plates and use those as contacts for the ports. See below pic. One test piece was supposed to reach Anand Desai, fellow member here. But since he is out of the country he will be giving a review only after he comes back. Also I'm not able to place this on sell forum is because it requires earth magnets to hold it strong and aligned on the dock are yet to come from the US. The magnets are tested by my friend from US to make sure it won't interfere with compass app or NFC. Samsung Galaxy™ S III SPH-L710

Received this beautiful white Leather Pouch/Flip Sleeve for the Note II for 349/- bucks from here - http://www.ebay.in/i...984.m1439.l2649 . Quality is quite good and it has space for some cards and other stuff also. The OE Samsung Flip Case was slightly cumbersome while talking as it was attached to the back cover. Now I can just take the phone out of the cover and talk which I find more convenient than handling the flapping flip case...lolz. All Photos clicked by Note 2 - Notice cut on back for the speaker Soft felt lining inside, with separate pocket for cards etc. Leather quality, I like!! Samsung Note embossed
