3 pointsTurn Your Windows 8 Laptop Into a Touchscreen Device With This Gadget Want to turn your laptop or desktop running Windows 8 into a touchscreen device? Accessory company Targus announced on Monday morning at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a first-of-its kind technology that makes the most of the latest Windows operating system, without the need to splurge for a pricey new computer that touts the company's built-in touchscreen capabilities. Windows 8 — which launched in October and was designed for touch — allows users to swipe, slide and access a full collection of features via your finger. But because of the cost of new hardware, many Microsoft fans upgraded to Windows 8 without buying an expensive touch-screen PC. Now, the Targus Touch Pen aims to give anyone using Windows 8 on older hardware the touch experience, with the help of a stylus. "Windows 8 is designed for touch, so if you have a current laptop and your device isn't capability for touch [sic], it lessens the value," Al Giazzon, VP of marketing and communications at Targus, told Mashable. "We put together a new product that turns current computers into a touchscreen device that supports Windows 8. It's easy to use, cheaper and is smaller than the size of your thumb." Here's how it works: A small receiver attaches to the side of the laptop screen and communicates with the black Touch Pen via a cable that connects to a USB port, so your laptop thinks it has a touchscreen. The Touch Pen acts like your finger would on a touchscreen, and the screen is protected with the stylus' soft tip. (Note: It doesn't work with an actual finger because it doesn't use either capacitive or optical touch tech). "Anything you can do with a touch-screen device, you can now do with a laptop or desktop," Giazzon said. "It also works with a laptop you bought years ago." Even better, the Touch Pen doesn't require software or drivers, and only a one-time calibration is needed to set up the device and determine the measurements of the screen. It works with any computer with Windows 8 and monitors up to 17 inches (so larger all-in-ones are out). Meanwhile, the company said it patented the technology that simulates the touch experience with a stylus for Windows 8 devices, which may ward off other manufacturers looking to get into the space. 2 pointsIsn't this getting TOO Complicated ? Maybe we should just ask newbie sellers to transfer a deposit to a RIMWEB account which will be returned back once buyer feedback is OK. There is no revenue or tax implication to the transaction for RIMWEB. Later if required some small fee could also be deducted. The deposit condition could be waived once the seller has 2-3 good transactions or feedbacks or once he is few years old member on rimweb Or if any reputed/old member vouches/guarantees for him etc. All the other things like ID etc will actually be of NO USE to us if the seller is fradulent (he will just photoshop any ID or change address etc). BUT it will keep adding to hassles for normal members - just like most govt regulations! Just my 2 cents....

1 pointVerizon Galaxy Note II - GSM Unlock - Add APN Data - Remove Non-Verizon SIM Message Source Topic This is great info. We have one of the best phone now working with GSM Data. CDMA Voice with SIM Card should work without any change & CDMA Data through SIM can also be tried through this APN method. I think we may have another best seller on our hand after Incredible 2 which works on CDMA & GSM SIM Card with Data! How to add APN data: In order to get data working you have to add carrier specific data to the apns-conf.xml file. While you may have been able to do this is in the past on other devices under settings, VZW has blocked this. Method 1: Flashable mod (via custom recovery) that will enable the Add APN menu by removing Verizon's block.(For deodexed roms only) >> http://www.mediafire.com/?wqmad2ypgsyd75z This enables the apn editor under settings. Go to Settings, More Settings, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, menu button. Method 2: Ensure your phone is rooted adb pull /system/etc/apns-conf.xml Add the carrier data to apns-conf.xml with your favorite text/xml editor and save adb push your modified apn-conf.xml file back to /sdcard/ Copy this file back to /system/etc/ and change permissions (I use root explorer) Power down and change your SIM card (AT&T, T-mobile, whatever) if you hadn't already done so Power back on and go to Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names (if done properly you should see the APN data you entered for your respective carrier). Select one of the APN listings and then you should have working data Profit Removing the Non-Verizon SIM message When Using a Non Verizon SIM Card: This will occur on roms that include Samsung's Setup Wizard (including stock) - all others can ignore Method 1: - Freeze "Setup wizard 1.0" in Titanium Backup Method 2: Download THIS APK for a deodexed ROM only and replace the original in /system/app/, then reboot. Make sure that /system is mounted as read/write before copy/pasting, and also that you're on a deodexed ROM. After copying it over, reboot and you shouldn't have the ongoing notification anymore.

1 point[CES 2013] ScotteVest Shows Off The Jacket Of The Future Source We have long speculated what the future will actually be like: flying cars, livable space stations, intergalactic travel will be the norm – you know, all that stuff. Alas, none of those things have quite come to fruition yet, and I doubt they will in my lifetime. What may actually become a thing that we can have, though, is wearable tech. And I'm not talking about smartwatches and the like. I'm talking about intelligent, sophisticated clothing. Kind of like this insane concept jacket that ScotteVest is showing off at CES: This is the TEC (Technology Enabled Clothing) Jacket 2.0. It has features that we've never seen before in a jacket (file that under "sentences that I never expected to write"), like built-in, flexible speakers and noise-cancelling microphones; onboard network-enhancing antennas, batteries, batteries, and more batteries; solar plates, and e-ink displays to output current stats. Hell, this thing even sports its own heating/cooling system that can keep you at the perfect temperature – give or take a degree. That's just pure insanity. And I want it. Right now. Unfortunately, this is just a concept. A way of saying, "hey, look what we can do." As such, there's no price, no release date, no availability info. Nothing. We can't even say for sure if this jacket will ever leave "concept status – but we can sure hope.

1 pointAlso, having the address of a fraudulent seller still serves only so much purpose practically - it will still take months of visits and threats to get him to cough up the amount. On the other hand, genuine guys will anyway refund even if a few members put in their negative comments on the topic. So this may only increase the paperwork here and not really get any one's money back. I can mention a few older cases where despite knowing the address of the seller, buyers had been running around for months. Apart from keeping a deposit, I can only reiterate pushing new sellers/buyers both to the paisapay route for their first 2-3 transactions. Then they can sell here directly. Otherwise, a lot of effort of moderators will go towards this system rather than in better activities in the forum and you will then have an implied responsibility & buyers will pester you for address proofs and to follow up etc.

1 pointQuick tip for using HCC on phones which dont show keypad while activating on *228 Use the Add Wait feature available in dial-pad, screenshots attached for help. Sample dial string will be: *228;1;123456789;1 *228 - number of course to dial 1 - for choosing English option, can be replaced by any other language option 123456789 - number printed on HCC 1 - is for confirming HCC number that you have input Have used this trick on S2 and Galaxy nexus and works like charm. More tips: - Increase the screen timeout to 5 - 10 mins as the prompts will now show if screen shuts down - Put call on speaker mode / increase call volume, basically dont bring near ear coz the screen will switch off coz of proximity sensor and prompts will not come up. Hope it helps

1 pointPls. add RIMweb ID - within brackets - for more clarity. Mr. Pathy, instead of putting Rimweb I.d. within bracket, I have now linked the names of the members with their respective profiles....just click on the name and it will take you to member's profile. By the way, good homework given to me. How many marks will I get for this ?

1 pointThat's really a good idea Simplest answer to all query, since we already have feedback system in place. My suggestion here is that 1)what if we can have a brief disclaimer in all the selling post so every buyer, newbie or old member, knows pros & cons before buying. 2) Also buyer knows the risk of involving in the transaction & RimWeb.in & moderators shall nowhere liable to face legal issues if buyer is at any kind of loss due to involving in transaction from sell post. 3) What if we have restrict buyers to be above 18 only... bacho ka khel nahi... Ebay being a Global Site has also not been able to be stop scam & is not full proof. There are as many as 15 to 20 loopholes which i personally know.on Ebay.Com scam takes place almost every 15 minute if not a minute. Scammers will scam, we shall have basic precautions & measures in place to ensure buyers safety. Lastly we here for exchange of knowledge & not just buy & sell...... Isnt it... The way discussion has taken place from the issue of AP, ( Escrow, Payment Gateway, Centralised banking) i will not wonder if we will end up having Ecommerce website of RimWeb... eRimweb.. Lol..
