Are you sure you had got your evdo deactivated on your old handset before getting the mdn retained on s3. Coz now a days reliance people are in fact Deactivating evdo if proper procedure is not followed. Try and complaint about the same. 1 pointWorld’s Smallest Blood Monitoring Implant Tells Your Smartphone When You’re About To Have A Heart Attack Source A team of scientists at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland have developed the world’s smallest medical implant to monitor critical chemicals in the blood. The 14mm device measures up to five indicators, including proteins like troponin, that show if and when a heart attack has occurred. Using Bluetooth, the device can then transmit the data to a smartphone for tracking. The device can also track levels of glucose, lactate, and ATP, providing valuable data for physiologic monitoring during activity, or in possible disease conditions like diabetes. As far as tricorders go, this device may be the one you have been waiting for, provided you are on board for the implant. Outside the body, a battery patch provides the 100 milliwatts of power that the device requires by wireless inductive charging through the skin. Each sensor is coated with an enzyme that reacts with blood-borne chemicals to generate a detectable signal. For patient monitoring, a device like this would quickly become indispensable once introduced. In cancer treatment for example, exact dosing is critical. Numerous blood tests are often required to calibrate the treatment according the to the patient’s particular ability to break down and excrete the drug. Often these parameters change when the disease, or the therapy, directly affects the organs involved in these processes — typically this would mean the liver and the kidneys. Often in the hours before a heart attack, fatigued or oxygen-starved muscle begins to break down, and fragments of a heart-specific smooth muscle protein, the troponin mentioned above, are dumped into the blood. If this can be detected before disruption of the heart rhythm, or the actual attack, lifesaving preemptive treatment can be initiated sooner. To be fail-safe, this depends on the patient having access to their data. Dependence on the integrity of multiple weak links to the cloud, to the doctor, and back again — as is often the prescribed future care scenario — are unacceptable, particularly when heart attacks might be counted on to occur precisely at those times when those links may not be there. Assuming the battles for patient rights will be won sooner rather than later, the next important choice would be getting the proper ringtone when that fateful troponin call comes. A standard ringtone with universal appeal would let bystanders know what was going on and assistance could, at least in theory, be had. Though amount was small, the experience was frustrating. But this was years back, so they may have improved. Times is a pretty good brand otherwise. Rajanbhai, Is a Nintendo 3DS XL new for 13K a good deal ? I have just got a mail that I won this on ebay today but I had forgotten that I had bid for this. (I had bid on many 3DS and 3DS XL and lost most of the bids and didn't remember that this one is still going on with me as highest and only bidder) Now the problem is that we had decided yesterday not to get this as it will affect daughter's studies (already has Wii, Nexus7, DS, Kindle and a PC). If its a good deal I'll buy and put it up for sale again, as i don't think ebay allows one to retract a bid.

Accessory company Targus announced on Monday morning at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a first-of-its kind technology that makes the most of the latest Windows operating system, without the need to splurge for a pricey new computer that touts the company's built-in touchscreen capabilities. Windows 8 — which launched in October and was designed for touch — allows users to swipe, slide and access a full collection of features via your finger. But because of the cost of new hardware, many Microsoft fans upgraded to Windows 8 without buying an expensive touch-screen PC. Now, the Targus Touch Pen aims to give anyone using Windows 8 on older hardware the touch experience, with the help of a stylus. "Windows 8 is designed for touch, so if you have a current laptop and your device isn't capability for touch [sic], it lessens the value," Al Giazzon, VP of marketing and communications at Targus, told Mashable. "We put together a new product that turns current computers into a touchscreen device that supports Windows 8. It's easy to use, cheaper and is smaller than the size of your thumb." Here's how it works: A small receiver attaches to the side of the laptop screen and communicates with the black Touch Pen via a cable that connects to a USB port, so your laptop thinks it has a touchscreen. The Touch Pen acts like your finger would on a touchscreen, and the screen is protected with the stylus' soft tip. (Note: It doesn't work with an actual finger because it doesn't use either capacitive or optical touch tech). "Anything you can do with a touch-screen device, you can now do with a laptop or desktop," Giazzon said. "It also works with a laptop you bought years ago." Even better, the Touch Pen doesn't require software or drivers, and only a one-time calibration is needed to set up the device and determine the measurements of the screen. It works with any computer with Windows 8 and monitors up to 17 inches (so larger all-in-ones are out). Meanwhile, the company said it patented the technology that simulates the touch experience with a stylus for Windows 8 devices, which may ward off other manufacturers looking to get into the space. TDMA (time division multiple access) and GSM systems have to add an extra stage of encryption to the signal to ensure privacy, whereas encryption is inherent to the CDMA system. The 1× Evolution-Data Optimised, which is abbreviated as EV-DO or 1× EV-DO, is a wireless radio broadband data standard. It has been adopted by a number of CDMA mobile telecommunications service providers across the world, particularly in the USA, South Korea, Japan, eastern European countries, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and spreading in our very own India The technology was first standardised by 3GPP2 in 2000 as part of the CDMA2000 standards. Qualcomm started to develop EV-DO in 1999 in a bid to produce a 2Mbit/s downlink for stationary communications, according to the requirements of IMT-2000. A (data only rev A, affectionately known as DORA). Only devices fitted with 1xEV-DO capable chipsets can take advantage of the higher speeds. High speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) is a rival technology for wide band code division multiple access (W-CDMA) networks. HSDPA has the advantage over EV-DO of being able to maintain voice and data channels simultaneously over a single pair of frequencies. The system has some real advantages over WiFi, including the fact that it is always on with seamless roaming. Additionally, the signal can travel on the same cell sites as mobile phones, can download and run video clips in real time, there is no 300ft range from the cell tower or 'hot spot' and there are not so many security issues. DEPLOYMENT AND TECHNOLOGY When deployed alongside a voice network, 1× EV-DO requires a separate radio channel of 1.25MHz. The first revision of the standard was 1x EV-DO Rev. 0 and this is now being superseded by 1× EV-DO Rev. A In addition to the increase in the maximum downlink rate from 2.4576Mb/s in Rev. 0 to 3.1Mb/s, EVDO Rev.A also has a 12-times improvement in the maximum uplink data rate, from .15Mb/s to 1.8Mb/s. A is now due to be superseded, with the wireless communications market constantly striving for better and faster services. 1× EV-DO Rev B (DORB) specifications have now been developed. EVDO Rev. ESN - An ESN is a numeric identifier that uniquely identifies a CDMA phone. The ESN is what a CDMA network uses to identify a phone and determine which subscriber's account, if any, it is linked to. Because of this, when switching from one phone to another, subscribers will have to provide the ESN of the new phone to the network carrier before it can be activated. The ESN is being phased out in favour of the MEID. This is happening because phone manufacturers are literally running out of ESN identifiers. PRL - is a database residing in a wireless (primarily CDMA) device, such as a cellphone, that contains information used during the system selection and acquisition process. In the case of RUIM-based CDMA devices, the PRL resides on the RUIM. The PRL indicates which bands, sub bands and service provider identifiers will be scanned and in what priority order.
