2 pointsHow To Root your Samsung Galaxy S3 - US Cellular [sCH-R530U] Hello everyone, Well this is one of my first tutorials for this forum on how to ROOT your Samsung Galaxy S3 - US Cellular [sCH-R530U]. I just recently got my Samsung Galaxy S3 from Parin da and found that if you update with the latest OTA your phone will lose Data. So I decided to Root my S3 now. It's quite easy with Odin. ThanX to Sougata da I would write this tutorial and maybe it might help others out there. Most Important Data Loss Issue: Don't go for OTA Update, otherwise you will loss your Data NO WARRANTY Use at your own risk, I'm not responsible for bricking your device Here is the step by step process I used to root it. Okay step 1. you are going to need some files... First thing you are going to need is the Samsung Drivers so you can connect your phone to your computer and your computer can recognize it. Links: Samsung Drivers for S3 step 2. Now you are going to need the Odin with MD5. Links: R530U ODIN with CF-Auto Root.md5 File MD5: B284379F181A6C6AC38A2C11EAF51F8F This is the CF-AUTOROOT file and this is what roots your phone. check the MD5 first before flashing First thing we are going to need to do is install the Samsung USB drivers, So do that. After the drivers are installed plug in your phone and make sure that it connects to your computer correctly, after it connects disconnect your phone from your computer. Next thing we are going to need to do is extract the ODIN zip file and install the Odin executable. Step 3. Make sure that [uSB Debugging] is enabled in your phone, if it is not go to Settings -> Developer Options and enable it. Step 4. Put your phone in DOWNLOAD Mode. You do that by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power button and hold it down till you see a warning screen. When you see the warning screen hit Volume Up to allow Download mode. Step 5. Now that your phone is in Download Mode you are going to connect your phone to your computer with ODIN RUNNING if everything connects correctly you will see ODIN highlight Yellow. Step 6. Press the PDA button, select the .tar.md5 file and Hit START. After the process the port will glow Green. As the reboot tab was default selected,This will reboot your phone. Your phone is rooted Find in the phone's application menu, Superuser icon is there. This is my actual Odin Video on YouTube for the reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlztkd5SrGQ&feature=em-upload_owner Congrats on rooting your phone! I hope this tutorial has helped you and I want to thank all of the system administrators/moderators of this forum that it is a great place for sharing our knowledge. I thank you all... Hope it helped! Updates... !!! 1 pointthose running vintage handsets with Android version 3.0 (Gingerbread) or earlier, this is a must have https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.safetelhandler i chrcked my xt800 yesterday and it was vulnerable To determine if your phone is vulnerable, perform the following steps: 1. Open your device’s browser and navigate to http://mobilephonesecurity.org/tel 2. If your device is vulnerable, you will see your IMEI displayed. 3. If you see *#06#, your device is secure and you don’t need to download this app.

1 pointI Just posted this in my note 2 thread, Would repeat again, stay away from OTA, and if you want to change roms then flash only tw based roms in sim based handsets like note 2 and s3 of vzn and us cellular. Anything based on cm or aosp will also mess with functioning of the phone. One thing which should be kept in mind is NEVER TO UPGRADE OR UODATE RADIO OR MODEM IN THREE HANDSETS ESPECIALLY IN JELLYBEAN AND LATER. STICK TO THE WORKING MODEM AND ROOT THE PHONE INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY AND FLASHING TOUCHWIZ BASED ROMS ONLY. Regards sent from my NOTE II, yupp size does matter.

1 pointNever take OTA s, It's ME2 and doesn't have anything significant at all. Stick to the working combination that you have now, If there's any major update which is beneficial for us, u will definitely post. I remember telling you about how to get your note 2 working with reliance, you may know by now that radios are the key, so just roms are fine that too only touchwiz based, but never touch the radio that is modem. Me2 will update the modem as well, which might break data in your note 2. Stay away from OTA updates, more so now in vzn and us cellular phones as they could prove potentially dangerous for the working of the phones. sent from my NOTE II, yupp size does matter.

1 pointNo more OTA update for S3 (who wants to lose data?), so I rooted my S3 yesterday. It's quite easy with odin. Exhaustive depository of required files for all versions of S3 can be found at http://autoroot.chainfire.eu

1 pointThere is no nam file needed ... all you need is 1> SPC CODE of your handset 2> Prl File 3> Akey 4> Dump file.... 5> the MEID to be reg on reliance... then simply transfer your number to the meid then *228 and you are done.... Is your meid registered?? Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

1 pointThey both are good in there both ways....if you love stock android then rather go for N4, but you would be bit disappointed by camera clarity in N4. Other wise the built quality is at par. Its got flush finish as we all know, unlike Samsung note 2 feels plastics in terms of body finish. Note 2 would have better camera over N4 and would have few added extra OEM Samsung softwares. Screen of both the phones are good, I personally like the flush finish of N4 and like the look and feel of stock android. Rest you may decide about what u like and what u want. If good camera is needed go for note2 if you aren't worried for that then go for N4. If size isn't a issue then note 2 is good, but if that's the case go for N4. IMHO note 2 is being bit common these days (people don't mind this is my just 2 cents advice - no offense please) unlike N4 is isn't common at that scale. People always ask which phone are you carrying and they always want to hold and see the phone. I am using N4 and S4 both and had used note2 for few weeks, didn't like to gave the note2 back as its little big for me to carry + didn't like the finish of phone. Hope this would help you to decide between them. Off course you may like to ask help from our RIM Gurus out here. Thanks Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk 2
