8 pointsHow To Root your Samsung Galaxy S3 - US Cellular [sCH-R530U] Hello everyone, Well this is one of my first tutorials for this forum on how to ROOT your Samsung Galaxy S3 - US Cellular [sCH-R530U]. I just recently got my Samsung Galaxy S3 from Parin da and found that if you update with the latest OTA your phone will lose Data. So I decided to Root my S3 now. It's quite easy with Odin. ThanX to Sougata da I would write this tutorial and maybe it might help others out there. Most Important Data Loss Issue: Don't go for OTA Update, otherwise you will loss your Data NO WARRANTY Use at your own risk, I'm not responsible for bricking your device Here is the step by step process I used to root it. Okay step 1. you are going to need some files... First thing you are going to need is the Samsung Drivers so you can connect your phone to your computer and your computer can recognize it. Links: Samsung Drivers for S3 step 2. Now you are going to need the Odin with MD5. Links: R530U ODIN with CF-Auto Root.md5 File MD5: B284379F181A6C6AC38A2C11EAF51F8F This is the CF-AUTOROOT file and this is what roots your phone. check the MD5 first before flashing First thing we are going to need to do is install the Samsung USB drivers, So do that. After the drivers are installed plug in your phone and make sure that it connects to your computer correctly, after it connects disconnect your phone from your computer. Next thing we are going to need to do is extract the ODIN zip file and install the Odin executable. Step 3. Make sure that [uSB Debugging] is enabled in your phone, if it is not go to Settings -> Developer Options and enable it. Step 4. Put your phone in DOWNLOAD Mode. You do that by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power button and hold it down till you see a warning screen. When you see the warning screen hit Volume Up to allow Download mode. Step 5. Now that your phone is in Download Mode you are going to connect your phone to your computer with ODIN RUNNING if everything connects correctly you will see ODIN highlight Yellow. Step 6. Press the PDA button, select the .tar.md5 file and Hit START. After the process the port will glow Green. As the reboot tab was default selected,This will reboot your phone. Your phone is rooted Find in the phone's application menu, Superuser icon is there. This is my actual Odin Video on YouTube for the reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlztkd5SrGQ&feature=em-upload_owner Congrats on rooting your phone! I hope this tutorial has helped you and I want to thank all of the system administrators/moderators of this forum that it is a great place for sharing our knowledge. I thank you all... Hope it helped! Updates... !!! 4 points^^^^ Your sid nid shows you are on reliance network, For you prl is not required for call and sms. you should get Akey from your seller or person who did registation . Akey generated from MEID may not be registered in RIM. Also in your attached photos, MIN is zero or your phone number, That may be the problem , min normally starts wth 1 or 2 and it is 10digit number you get thru OTA.

1 pointAre you using Snapdragon Battery Guru? It has default tendency to periodically turn Wi-Fi on. If yes, this can be modified at its setting.

1 pointIt looks data goes kaput after 4.1.2 OTA update if on RUIM. Registering its MEID or downgrade to 4.0.4/4.1.1 are the options. Download the combination file from teamuscellular and place it in Odin 3.0.7 and flash in PDA, viola ! data is back. Very helpful and descriptive tutorial by Amit. Rather a real painless method. Thanks. Keep up the good work. Sent from my N5100

1 pointThose who want to install ME2 without loosing data can do follwoing Preserve LL1 radio. Downloads (Assuming you have drivers) Download ME2 ROM from http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/files/getdownload/388-stock-files/ Download Root file http://download.chainfire.eu/272/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-t0lteusc-t0lteusc-schr950.zip Download NOTE 2 tool kit from skipsoft.net Rename MD5 file name .TAR Extract system.img file Put .img file in input folder of N2 tool kit and choose OPTION of CREATE ODIN FLASHABE TAR FROM IMG file Toolkit will convert .img file to .tar file and put it in outpot folder. Flash .tar file using ODIN. This will only update ANDROID as there is no RADIO. You will loose ROOT so ROOT using CF_ROOT file and ODIN.

1 pointGreat!!!!! I am one of the sufferer. As I was too busy and there was no immediate requirement of data I postponed the procedure. And files were not getting downloaded. Thanks Amit and I too agree with Sougata Dhar about the warning. Not rooted so far, probably today I will do it.

1 pointGreat! Amit has provided a nice tutorial comprising every detail of it. Now it's really hard to have the statistics how many users (noobs or experts) have, knowingly or unknowingly, gone for the latest OTA update and lost data on their precious handsets! It's also very difficult for the sellers here (small or reputed) to guide each and every buyer down the line how to restrain from the update and to be safe how to root their handsets, which will prevent further possibility of the detrimental OTA update. Amit's this tutorial will be of great help in this regard. Actually, I feel, soon after this data mishap was noticed, our forum should have one warning message (in bold red marquee) that "Don't go for such and such OTA update, otherwise your data will be lost" right at the Forum entry page . This was missing on the part of our Moderators / Super Moderators.

1 pointI have been using Sony XAV-701BT since 6 months. The drive link app from play store does not support full mirroring. Its only limited to google maps, stock music player and phone functions. There is one modified drivelink app available in xda. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837847.%C2'>
