2 pointsHi friends. Was thinking to start this topic since quite a few days. Today got time. Mods kindly move thread to appropriate section if this is a duplicate thread. The purpose of this thread is to share your experiences with service centres of electronic gadgets like mobiles, hard disks, tablets etc.. In today's times there are a plethora of handsets in every price range considering the likes of mmx karbonn lava iball and what not. However the quality does not really match the other standard brands. So apart from performance it is equally important to know the quality of after sales service and availability of parts. Also I have heard that servicing quality for the same brand varies from region to region. Someone may be happy with the service in Delhi while someone in Ahmedabad might be having a hard time. So let us share our experiences and help fellow rimwebians make am informed decision in their purchases.. My experience with HTC : On the morning of 22.6.13 HTC chacha being used by my father developed problems. About 1/4th of the screen on the right side became unresponsive. Gave it in servicing on 27.06 as it was in warranty at redington Vadodara. Well it has been almost a MONTH now and still there is no news.. Numerous calls and mails have not yielded anything really. Problem always said is non availability of parts. If it takes a brand like HTC to take over a month to service a mobile coz of non availability of parts, It sets really low standards. No policy either of a back up handset. Disappointing experience. My experience with Micromax: About a year back had developed a problem in a handset q3. It was not powering on. Submitted at service centre. After a week when I enquires they said it needed mobo replacement and will be sent to Ahmedabad. After a month got the handset in hand in Vadodara. Problem was aptly solved but level of professionalism is very low. When I got the handset I could make out that the housing body did not look like mine. When I complained about it at the spot the repairing guy replaced it with some other q3 which was lying with him for repair. Weird really. Then I noticed there was lot of dust between the lcd and the housing. Again he opened it in front of me and started cleaning with a rough cloth. Before I could stop him there were already two three permanent scratches due to cloth rubbing with dust. I realised it was useless to ask for anything more. I quickly left...

It essentially opens the door to a world of mods only possible through the Init.d process, which in turn is usually only available on custom kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933849 ANY PHONE ROOTED can enable this feature. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS. I have enabled this and used a MOD [COMADOSE] for my S4 which improves the LAG and also battery life, the author claims improvement in internet speeds which i have not tested. For those who want to stay complete stock and do some tweaks, this is the best way to do it. it works on MF9 update. below is the link for the TWEAK which i used after enabeling init.d. 2 pointsWent for an upgrade today with Cyanogenmod ROM to JB 4.2.2 (AOKP version mr1_milestone-2, Kernel version 3.4.53) and finally installed the latest GAPPS through recovery.e It's an all-new experience with almost everything from latest Nexus but one bad thing I'm noticing. This ROM cannot recognize my 64GB MSD card, while it's fine with my earlier 32GB Sandisk Ultra. So, it appears that the Cyanogenmod team didn't take into account the feature that USC SGS3 is designed to support 64GB card. It's frustrating after the update and having a 64GB card in hand. Is there any way out?

1 pointGREAT !!! Totally unrelated but this trick always works.. Few months back I had a mishap with Bluedart where the courier delivery guy instead of dispatching the item , took it to his home and then took leave for 2-3 days. I got so frustated that I prepared a long email incl names of all the ppl I have talked to in that time about the issue to all top management ppl mails I had incl their HR head and Country Head. Next Day I got a apology from their HR head as well as Pune branch head. Since then I am on their somekind of premium watchlist.. As soon as my item arrives , it is dispatched to me , even if it arrives late in evening and if it doesn't I get a call from their managers directly apologizing for the delay.. Once I went to their office to pickup the courier as I was going somehere soon after and although there was couple ppl waiting to get attended before me , the guy on reception left everything and attended me first.. evryone there were gazing at me as I am some kind of elite member their.. it was a good feeling

1 pointSteps to enable Init.d for any phone. (if you are using custom kernels, cyanogen mod original kernel etc already support init.d so no need to do this mod) First find out if your phone already has init.d support. 1 Download the file from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1612958 2 Extract the file, you will get a file named 00test. 3 copy the file to /etc/init.d, if you do not have a init.d under /etc just create a folder by the name init.d and paste the 00test file in to it. ( use root explorer or efs file explorer to browse, you can download from google play) 4 Change the permission of both init.d folder and the file 00test to rwxrwxrwx. (to change permission, first you have to mount root as read and write so that you can make changes, now click on the folder and hold till you get options, under options select permissions, under permissions select everything EXCEPT the last 3 boxes under SPECIAL PERSMISSIONS. do the same for the file 00test.) 5 Reboot 6 if you have a test.log under /data that means you have init.d. if not follow the next steps. REQUIREMENTS Root access to your phone. Busybox with required applets (specially runparts) use google play to download busybox from this link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox. Once installed,do not run it, reboot your phone before running this script. After reboot, run busy box and wait for it to scan you root files. once the root files are scanned use the install button below and select "normal install" method, do not use "smart install". Busybox installed INSTRUCTIONS TO ENABLE Init.d 1 Dowbload the apk http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390248398092764054 2 Install the apk like any other app. 3 Run the app and and click on ACTIVATE under Enabling init.d support. 4 After activating click on verify button below activate button to verify init.d support in your phone. Hope this helps.

1 pointThe best part of this custom ROM is that it is supporting Conference Calling. I'll not revert back to stock even if it fails to support 64 GB card. I was desperately looking for conference calling. I'll use the 64 GB card with Nikon D90.

1 pointAs you said budget is under 6L on-road, Ford Figo Diesel EXI will likely to suit your requirement. i am using figo for past 3 years faced no problems at at all. mileage is also good around 20-21kmpl Figo is fun to drive, offers better space for a hatch, good 1.4Liter engine with very less turbo lag. If is definitely a Value for Money car! but only problem is low ground clearance. If it is fully loaded with passengers and luggage at boot, It will definitely get scrap on every speed breakers.

1 pointi have a bunch of ideas for ecommerce sites / mobile apps but they require about rs. 5-10 lakhs EACH as capex upfront and will take at least 1-2 years to become sustainable [cash flow positive]: registry for aspiring actors like they have abroad so they can upload their portfolio for review by various agencies multiple classified posting - which allows you to put up your ad on the top dozen free sites for india instead of going to each one individually mobile apps for used car valuations so you can check how much a dealer might be trying to overcharge you at the lot itself rather than going home to check multiple sites [ios & android] home delivery / ordering apps for any place that you usually call up currently [ios & android] app for gift certificates for any store that's willing to sell them online [ios & android] there's actually no limit but your imagination really i have vendors and project managers lined up for these but never started since i was too lazy to start looking for funding: you would have to spend a lot of time jumping through hoops for each investor you will have to get rejected dozens of times before ever finding one also need to provide completely meaningless business projections which are wild guesses some would even want you to give up control / design decisions / feature set / scope as a condition its always much harder than you can imagine to get any angel investors in your venture its difficult to find a silent partner who will give you the time needed to fully mature your concept and test it its clear in my head how to build great sites / apps but if they will make any profits is very hard to predict or even provide deadlines / timeframes to reach specified thresholds / benchmarks financially

1 pointDAKC (Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City), Navi Mumbai. December 22, 2003 Reliance Infocomm and Citibank today unveiled India's first online mobile credit card payment solution enabling direct payment from Reliance IndiaMobile handsets. The first application to use this payment mode is "RIM-Bill Payment", a service that facilitates Reliance IndiaMobile subscribers to pay their mobile bill at the touch of a mobile phone button from the R World. The solution works by setting up a secure connection over the air between a Reliance IndiaMobile handset and the mobile payment gateway of Citibank. RIM Bill Payment is a wireless data application under the R World suite of data services available on Reliance IndiaMobile handsets. Using the facility, customers can view billing details and make payment by entering a personal four digit PIN for security and authentication. The service also provides the facility to check details of the last transaction. All Visa, MasterCard and Diners Club credit cards can be used for the transaction. "With this new feature added to R World service portfolio, RIM customers have the convenience of paying RIM bill anytime, anywhere", said Mahesh Prasad, President, President, Applications Solutions Group, Reliance Infocomm Ltd. This arguably is one of the most simple and convenient ways of paying bills remotely. Apart from the ease of use, this innovative application provides many benefits to RIM customers - · Ability to pay anytime anywhere, · Option to Store Card details through a one-time sign up process or to enter card details at the time of transaction without storage. · Free credit period of up to 50 days · Rewards points on credit card as a result of the usage. · What's more - this service currently comes free of charge to the customer! Citibank Credit card customers have a special inaugural privilege. All Reliance bill payments made through the R World application with their Citibank credit would earn double the reward points till March 31, 2004. "The transmission of data in Reliance IndiaMobile network is more secure than conventional channels due to multiple layers of security. CDMA air-interface, through which the data is transmitted, automatically scrambles voice and data, making interception nearly impossible. The second level of protection is provided by 128-bit encryption and secure socket layer (SSL), which ensures data is transmitted from the handsets in encrypted form. The third level of security is provided by the fact that Reliance IndiaMobile handsets are hardwired to communicate only with Reliance Application Platform (RAP), which is secured behind impregnable firewalls and physically located in the highly secure data centers operated by Reliance Infocomm. And lastly, all critical customer data like PIN and credit card number are always stored and transmitted in encrypted formats," Mr. Prasad added. Sarvesh Sarup, Consumer Bank Head, Citibank India said, " We're proud to pioneer in partnership with Reliance the first Online Mobile Payment Gateway in India for card members. This unlocks the potential for payment and M Commerce applications on the mobile phone, hitherto restricted to the wired Internet world".
