3 pointsSOURCE XDA LINK The Master Key Vulnerabilities can NOW be FULLY PATCHED... Thanks to XDA WARNING:- The following procedure is to be done at your own risk. It may brick your phone, if you are doing without knowing what you are doing... If you don't want to take such risk, a simple way to AVOID those vulnerabilities is "Unchecking Install from UnKnown Sources Box in Security Settings" and you will be still safe. Further the patch may NOT be necessary for those with latest Sammy devices which is said to be patched already. To check if your phone is safe already install BlueBox security scanner (link in step 7) and check beforehand. This method is better than Norton Security which eats almost 50% of phone's battery life by staying in memory always and still better than ReKey app (root needed) whose functionality is still unconfirmed and again it needs to reside in memory so that your phone will be safe... -------------------------------------------------------------------- Friends here is the patch for the masterKey (dual) vulnerability... (Of course for rooted users)... 1] First download and install the attached XposedInstaller_2.1.4.apk and then install "Master Key Dual Fix" app from Play Store LINK 2] Run the XposedInstaller and goto Modules Tab and enable "Master key Dual Fix" checkBox... 3] Comeback to "FrameWork" Tab and click "Install/Update" button.. 4] Allow root access where ever asked... 5] Then reboot by pressing reboot button... 6] Then run Master Key Dual Fix app and you are done... 7] Install Blue Box security Scanner from play store (LINK) and run to confirm that the vulnerabilities are blocked... 8] Goto the XDA thread in source link above and click Thanks button there... (I don't think I deserve one as I am just a messenger of good thing) ------------------------------------------- I have checked this in my both rooted Indian RazrMAXX and Verizon RazrMAXX_HD phones (both running JB 4.1.2) and I can confirm its 100% working great... Now we can again enable the "Install from UnKnown sources" checkbox in security settings... XposedInstaller_2.1.4.apk

2 pointsGREAT !!! Totally unrelated but this trick always works.. Few months back I had a mishap with Bluedart where the courier delivery guy instead of dispatching the item , took it to his home and then took leave for 2-3 days. I got so frustated that I prepared a long email incl names of all the ppl I have talked to in that time about the issue to all top management ppl mails I had incl their HR head and Country Head. Next Day I got a apology from their HR head as well as Pune branch head. Since then I am on their somekind of premium watchlist.. As soon as my item arrives , it is dispatched to me , even if it arrives late in evening and if it doesn't I get a call from their managers directly apologizing for the delay.. Once I went to their office to pickup the courier as I was going somehere soon after and although there was couple ppl waiting to get attended before me , the guy on reception left everything and attended me first.. evryone there were gazing at me as I am some kind of elite member their.. it was a good feeling

1 pointI would like to start this topic where people can discuss their latest HARDWARE PURCHASE. By Hardware I mean - anything related to electronics, computers, gadgets, Phones, LCD's, Laptops etc. etc. I would like people to add in short why they purchased this piece of hardware. Also its COST & PLACE of purchase - to help others; and a WEB LINK of its specifcations and any other related Link/Topic you have started elsewhere to help others... Let me make a start - I have purchased yesterday a HP LASERJET 1007 B&W laser Printer @ Rs. 5,400/- (MRP Rs. 7000/-) from Nehru Place, New Delhi. Though the extra cartridge still costs around 3K but its easily refilled on the street for 300 bucks.. Link - http://h10010.www1.h...20Printer&cc=in Why - I was looking to replace the cartridges of my old Xerox Phaser 6100 and HP laserJet 5P and their cost was nearly the same as this new printer hardware; so I decided to go for a New Hardware instead... I would request Rimwebian's to kindly contribute en-mass with THEIR LATEST PURCHASES....

1 pointHi friends. Was thinking to start this topic since quite a few days. Today got time. Mods kindly move thread to appropriate section if this is a duplicate thread. The purpose of this thread is to share your experiences with service centres of electronic gadgets like mobiles, hard disks, tablets etc.. In today's times there are a plethora of handsets in every price range considering the likes of mmx karbonn lava iball and what not. However the quality does not really match the other standard brands. So apart from performance it is equally important to know the quality of after sales service and availability of parts. Also I have heard that servicing quality for the same brand varies from region to region. Someone may be happy with the service in Delhi while someone in Ahmedabad might be having a hard time. So let us share our experiences and help fellow rimwebians make am informed decision in their purchases.. My experience with HTC : On the morning of 22.6.13 HTC chacha being used by my father developed problems. About 1/4th of the screen on the right side became unresponsive. Gave it in servicing on 27.06 as it was in warranty at redington Vadodara. Well it has been almost a MONTH now and still there is no news.. Numerous calls and mails have not yielded anything really. Problem always said is non availability of parts. If it takes a brand like HTC to take over a month to service a mobile coz of non availability of parts, It sets really low standards. No policy either of a back up handset. Disappointing experience. My experience with Micromax: About a year back had developed a problem in a handset q3. It was not powering on. Submitted at service centre. After a week when I enquires they said it needed mobo replacement and will be sent to Ahmedabad. After a month got the handset in hand in Vadodara. Problem was aptly solved but level of professionalism is very low. When I got the handset I could make out that the housing body did not look like mine. When I complained about it at the spot the repairing guy replaced it with some other q3 which was lying with him for repair. Weird really. Then I noticed there was lot of dust between the lcd and the housing. Again he opened it in front of me and started cleaning with a rough cloth. Before I could stop him there were already two three permanent scratches due to cloth rubbing with dust. I realised it was useless to ask for anything more. I quickly left...

1 pointFormatting your 64GB card with fat32 file system should fix the issue of it not being detected by Cyanogenmod ROM.

1 pointCompared to Micromax, Karbonn,XOLO...etc...brands...Spice Mobile service is better, i had been there for the issue of touch screen after using 1.5 yrs...they had spare parts and did it in one day....also previously my friedns also expericened the same level of service....atleast better to micromaxx, karbonn etc....even mobile built quality is also good and same budget phones like micromax etc.

1 pointPART 1 :- The apps that patches the infamous "Master Key" vulnerabilities and the step by step guidance to do so is HERE... It is a MUST HAVE for rooted users (except latest Sammy devices which are said to be patched already)... ---------------------------------------------------------- PART 2 :- SoftKeyz * Root LINK (Paid app) This app is for rooted users with phones having OnScreen nav keys... Using this app we can customize the look and even arrange the keys to our liking.. I have selected the WORDS for the Keys like BACK, HOME, TASK, DOWN as seen in the attached pics... Custom Nav keys (with words instead of symbols) on my Verizon RazrMAXX_HD Same setup but with the menu button kept as is...

1 pointFor those who are deciding between HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4; here's my comparison report after a couple of months usage of both handsets. I have the Sprint CDMA version for both, of-course on Reliance CDMA now The best thing about the HTC One is its look and feel. With all Samsung Galaxy handsets looking similar, S4 will look like it belongs on a far more downmarket phone. HTC One on the other hand stands out from the rest of the crowd and gets more attention as it doesn't have the common look like a Galaxy or even an iPhone. When I was at the Burj Khalifa (Dubai) in early May, a foreigner there saw the HTC One in my hands and screamed "hey look... its the new HTC handset!" - I don't think he would have noticed if I was using a Galaxy S4. The replaceable battery option does get some points for Galaxy S4 though. Since I had used a Galaxy S3 before, the S4's rectangular boxy shape did not feel that comfortable as the S3's under body cover is more curvy and hence more comfortable. Anyway the S4 is more comfortable to hold than the HTC One for me as it feels to have more grip. The Ones power button is on the top left edge, and doesnt really extend from the phones surface at all. So if you are upgrading from a handset like S3, it will take some time to get used to it and especially the navigation buttons. Even though the screen size difference is only 0.3", I do feel it makes a good difference as the HTC One screen looks a bit more cramped when you look at it many days after using the S4. So a big advantage there for the S4 over HTC One. Feature-wise Samsung Galaxy S4 has load of cool features but in the 2 months of usage I had, the only time I used those "cool" features were when I was showing off the handset to someone or when they asked me about those features. Yes, they do work fine and not just gimmicks, its just not really going to be used all the time. Those "cool" features do take up battery life as well. Camera had mixed results for me. Some pics looked better on HTC One while some looked better on S4. The HTC Ones colors are more accurate in my opinion and more crisper. Overall, I would say the HTC One is better for low-lit conditions. Battery life feels more or less the same with both handsets. BlinkFeed on the HTC One was kind of weird for me in the beginning but eventually I started liking it. Make sure you filter the sources that you require to make it better. I still like TouchWiz navigation than HTC Sense, maybe that has something to do with the fact that I was used to it before with the S3. I have seen many reporting over-heating problem with the GSM Galaxy S4 but I haven't noticed any over-heating issue with the Galaxy S4 CDMA (mine is Sprint). The most disappointing aspect of both HTC One CDMA and Galaxy is that SVDO (Simultaneous Voice and EV-DO) has been removed which was present in Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC EVO 4G LTE. The reason behind it is that they added simultaneous voice support for LTE which is more popular now in US than EVDO. So the 3G (EVDO) data session will get cut off when you make or receive a call. EVDO works great on both handsets. I have run these tests on both handsets together at the same time... Galaxy S4: HTC One: I have heard some people say that EVDO is faster on HTC handsets but in my opinion it just varies. I have done EVDO speed tests on both handsets together at the same time during different time of the day/night and have seen varying results. However I do notice that HTC One had more reception signal strength as per the dBm ratings checked together at the same time: (the dBM value is in -ve, so the lesser (to 0) the better)

1 pointThe word "Micromax" used with the word "Service Center" is a paradoxical oxymoron and should not be used together in a sentence !!!
-
1 pointYa side by side looks interesting - even i like 2 at a time
-
1 pointSure, I was going to take the pics anyway as I will be selling off both or one of them. Here you go... When stacked together, you can see that the S4 (bottom) is a little bit bigger in width due to the bigger screen size:
