How To Root your Samsung Galaxy S3 - US Cellular [sCH-R530U] Hello everyone, Well this is one of my first tutorials for this forum on how to ROOT your Samsung Galaxy S3 - US Cellular [sCH-R530U]. I just recently got my Samsung Galaxy S3 from Parin da and found that if you update with the latest OTA your phone will lose Data. So I decided to Root my S3 now. It's quite easy with Odin. ThanX to Sougata da I would write this tutorial and maybe it might help others out there. Most Important Data Loss Issue: Don't go for OTA Update, otherwise you will loss your Data NO WARRANTY Use at your own risk, I'm not responsible for bricking your device Here is the step by step process I used to root it. Okay step 1. you are going to need some files... First thing you are going to need is the Samsung Drivers so you can connect your phone to your computer and your computer can recognize it. Links: Samsung Drivers for S3 step 2. Now you are going to need the Odin with MD5. Links: R530U ODIN with CF-Auto Root.md5 File MD5: B284379F181A6C6AC38A2C11EAF51F8F This is the CF-AUTOROOT file and this is what roots your phone. check the MD5 first before flashing First thing we are going to need to do is install the Samsung USB drivers, So do that. After the drivers are installed plug in your phone and make sure that it connects to your computer correctly, after it connects disconnect your phone from your computer. Next thing we are going to need to do is extract the ODIN zip file and install the Odin executable. Step 3. Make sure that [uSB Debugging] is enabled in your phone, if it is not go to Settings -> Developer Options and enable it. Step 4. Put your phone in DOWNLOAD Mode. You do that by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power button and hold it down till you see a warning screen. When you see the warning screen hit Volume Up to allow Download mode. Step 5. Now that your phone is in Download Mode you are going to connect your phone to your computer with ODIN RUNNING if everything connects correctly you will see ODIN highlight Yellow. Step 6. Press the PDA button, select the .tar.md5 file and Hit START. After the process the port will glow Green. As the reboot tab was default selected,This will reboot your phone. Your phone is rooted Find in the phone's application menu, Superuser icon is there. This is my actual Odin Video on YouTube for the reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlztkd5SrGQ&feature=em-upload_owner Congrats on rooting your phone! I hope this tutorial has helped you and I want to thank all of the system administrators/moderators of this forum that it is a great place for sharing our knowledge. I thank you all... The only way that I have found for doing this is to use nandroid backups (tar gz image of the full filesystem using any recovery like Clockworkmod etc and running ) of various Android versions on my Nexus 7 and keep restoring the ones I want to test. However, it requires you to have root and though restoring nandroid backups is fast, creating the backups takes 15 min at least. I have been thinking to start using multi boot but one problem is that my N7 is only 8GB which is not enough to really have 2-3 versions multiboot. You can search on the XDA Nexus 7 forum for multi boot options. I had also used chroot to run some linux versions which was good except for the same problem of disk space. Maybe you can try using chroot to run different android versions. If you only want to test Web Apps then maybe just installing different Chrome versions would work ? (Using some of the backup tools which let you freeze/thaw) I found Genymotion good to try out different devices/android versions/API versions. What problems do you face in Genymotion ?

A new windows virus is detected floating in the wild that targets Android devices attached to the pc which is been invaded by the said virus. This particular virus is seems to be made targetting Korean people but similar viruses may be floating around the internet. According to the newest Symanatec security(malware) bulletin, the virus which is named as Trojan.Droidpak will install ADB in the computer by itself !! and continously checks for any Android device is connected(with USB debugging enabled). Once it finds an Android device with USB debugging enabled then it installs a fake Google Play Store App, called as Google App Store(check the screen shot below). Once the fake Google Play Store is installed it scouts for any authenticated applications of any Korean banks(that's why it is reported to be targetting only Korean people) and if it finds any such apps then it prompts the infected users to uninstall genuine apps from Korean banks & install some fake ones. The Android users can protect themselves from this virus if you take two safety steps, 1) never leave USB debugging continously on so that even if you connect your Android device to some untrusted computer(computers belong to others) the virus can't effect you. 2) secondly always try to download the apps from original source or verify whether you are doing or not and also choose the option to verify authenticity of the apps installing through USB(there will be an option in settings for this). A detailed report can be seen @ Symantec Blog
