Trai.gov.in Trak.in TelecomTiger.com 24 Apr 2014 Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to set a minimum download speed for 2G and 3G services. In this regard TRAI has published a consultation paper and will listen to public opinion till May 5. TRAI intends to set the minimum download speed for 3G and CDMA EVDO services at 1 Mbps with success rate of 95 per cent. Whereas for GSM and CDMA 2G the minimum should be 56 kbps while that for CDMA high speed data it should be 512 kbps is what the regulator feels. TRAI may also ask telecom operators to mention the minimum download speed that a data service will deliver in a tariff plan. Currently there are no rules to keep a tab on dropping speeds. Its a commendable step since customers are promised high speeds but these are rarely touched. According to TRAI, the telecom consumers availing wireless data services are not aware of the minimum download speed being offered to them by the TSPs. Generally, the tariff plans offered by the TSPs are based on the volume of data usage for various technologies, without any clarity about the speed being offered to consumers. Also, there is no commitment of minimum download speed while offering a tariff plan. TRAI has now proposed that all Indian internet users provide their inputs to them, so that the telecom companies are regulated and mandated to provide a minimum internet speed under all circumstances, something like this: TRAI added, Another alternative could be that the service providers, along with the tariff and the details of data services offered, also specify a minimum download speed that will be applicable for each plan or scheme. Accordingly, along with each tariff plan whenever they are advertised, through website, telephone bills, sale vouchers, complaint centres, and sales office, the minimum download speed is also necessarily mentioned. Moreover, whenever there is a change in the plan or speed, subscriber should be properly informed and the same should also be published through suitable advertisement. The service provider shall inform the minimum download speed along with the tariff plan while filing tariff to TRAI. TRAI has asked all Indians to send in their suggestions and ideas latest by May 5, 2014 at this email id: advqos@trai.gov.in - Counter comments can be sent by May 12, 2014 TRAI press release

Good news for the customers whose operator has no 3g license in their circle. But what about the 3G tariff by the private players? Initially the tariffs may be sky high.If 3 biggies form an alliance to share the revenue.Hard times for the customer to escape their high tariffs.

as per Kabil Sibal statement, " any aggrieved corporate can approach the court for relief" ( check TOI). I feel court will grant them some sort of stay or provide relief, like Vodafone case. This way govt also saves it face and assure that foreign investment is safe in India and also calm public that cos are penalised.

I remember this updated-DND system discussion was started during the time when in Parliment-discussion PranabMukherjee got call from one tele-marketer asking "Do you want a HOME LOAN Sir????".. At that time only (oct-nov2010) raja started this discussion on blocking unwanted calls to next level... Now the simplest way to quicken this job is:- 1. Get some pre-activated SIM (available FREE everywhere) with TT... 2. Call @Dr.YumYumSingh or @SoniaGaxdhi or again our Pranab ji and ask "Do you want some personal loan sir ji????", during any important meeting... 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 till some concrete actions start... Another side-benefit possible from this attack is "they may also take steps to stop fake-activation by telecom operators" then...

shocking news..... It's pure ridiculous to demand 10 months when private operators can do it in few weeks. If BSNL/MTNL has asked for say 3 months, it makes sense in relation to number of exchanges they operate... "10 Months!!!!" is totally unjustifiable delaying tactics funded by telemarketers in the background. :ranting: It clearly shows now telemarketers are under seize since separate series will create havoc to their business. They're stooping to such a shameful level by fanning irrational issues by bribing officials in BSNL/MTNL. Why not DoT and Govt agencies setup fast track approval mechanism taking the seriousness of this issue??? It's just updating equipments in exchanges and certainly do not involve any field work like digging grounds or building premises/towers. :bash:

what about bharti... they pay highest amount for 3g and still manage to win 4 circles. but anyway its good for Rcom subscribers, they are already lagging behind in service standard. one more business could have spoil thing more, and they realise it.
