Anil Ambani Unfurls Grand Plans At Reliance Communications Agm
Arun replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
Business Standard Mumbai July 17, 2007 Chairman Anil Ambani, who was addressed the company’s third annual general meeting in Mumbai today, also announced the setting up of a special economic zone (SEZ) by carving out around 18 acres in the Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge Centre (DAKC) on the outskirts of Mumbai. The investment - one of the highest ever by a telco in the country (Hutch-Essar has committed a Rs 8,000 crore investment) - will be utilised for network expansion, erection of 23,000 mobile towers, launch of DTH and Wimax services and increasing the company’s coverage to 900 million-plus Indians. RCom aims to cover 23,000 towns or every single habitation with a population of over 1,000 persons. “Maximisation of shareholder value is the key mantra for us. To this end, apart from other measures, we are undertaking four key initiatives this year,” Ambani told the shareholders. The company will hive off its BPO operations into a separate entity, which employs 7,800 personnel across various locations. The BPO unit provides multi-lingual support to telecom, banking financial services and insurance (BFSI), utilities and entertainment verticals. RCom will also develop a part of its 132-acre campus at DAKC, the company’s headquarters in Navi Mumbai, into an SEZ. The SEZ will focus on IT and IT-enables services. The company is also looking at a private placement of Reliance Telecom Infrastructure’s equity (the tower infrastructure business) and Flag Telecom to international institutional investors. The tower business will also be listed in India, while Flag Telecom would be listed on foreign bourses by year-end, he said. Having received licenses for direct-to-home operations in May, Reliance will commence the services by December. That apart, the company will also roll out its Internet protocol-based TV services within the same time frame. -
the Great Indian wait for 3G continues as usual... 3G policy to wait till October 2007 12 Jul 2007, 0014 hrs IST, Shalini Singh, Times News Network Despite expectations that the government is soon going to deliver on the long awaited policy for 3G spectrum allocation, industry is headed for a long wait till at least October. According to sources in DoT, the final decision on allocation of 3G spectrum will only be taken in the last quarter of this calendar year, any time after October. Additional secretary-IT, M Nambiar and additional secretary-telecom, M Sahu, are likely to inform US government and industry of this development on July 12 at an Indo-US bilateral meet in Washington. In bilateral terms, it offers certainty to international investors and technology providers awaiting the government's final policy. Trai, after a public consultation, had prescribed the auction route for 3G spectrum allocation, but DoT is yet to reveal its policy position. From all accounts, DoT's internal decision is ready. However, it is likely to face the rigours of a long political process, says a DoT source. This is because 3G carries several trade policy and international bilateral implications, unlike other routine DoT decisions. Under the Trai Act, Section 11, DoT can either accept or reject/modify Trai's recommendations. In case of the latter, it must send the matter to be reconsidered by Trai after which DoT’s decision is final and binding. The government is likely to use the next 3 months to ratify DoT's views before announcing its final policy. 3G allocation has been a contentious issue owing to the scarcity of spectrum availability amidst many users who need and deserve the spectrum. An additional controversy centres around whether global companies should be allowed to bid a stance that was taken by previous telecom minister, Dayanidhi Maran. His is the last publicly stated government position on the subject. Going forward, the government will have to balance the needs of several stakeholders with a policy announcement that is seen to be fair, non discriminatory and transparent, say DoT sources.

The Hindu Tuesday, Jul 10, 2007 The Bangalore Urban District Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum has directed Reliance Communication and Infrastructure Limited (RCIL) to stop sending commercial messages and pay a compensation of Rs. 5,000 to Ramesh Babu, a subscriber. Mr. Babu filed a complaint alleging that the mobile service provider was sending him commercial messages despite his repeated requests to stop doing it. He also alleged that he was made to pay for the messages that were sent by him to deactivate all commercial messages. Earlier, RCIL denied the allegations made by the complainant and defended itself by saying that other service providers too sent such messages. It claimed that it did not send the messages. After going through the evidence produced by the complainant, the forum noted that the claims made by RCIL were false.

I don't think there is any need for STD for NetConnect service to work. When you told them that it used to work in both Bangalore and Comibatore earlier, what did they reply ? Anyway, activation of STD services can be done by giving a request through phone (*333) itself. When you get the incorrect username/password error for NetConnect, are you able to make outgoing calls ?

I would recommend you to opt for the Dell Inspiron 1520 which is based on the new Santa Rosa based Core 2 Duo processor. http://dellstore05.sg.dell.com/public/cart...135&sr_no=4 It will come just under Rs.50k for the base configuration and I guess that is the best deal you can get for that price. You can also check out the Dell Vostro series based on AMD Turion X2 Dual Core which will be around 35k only for the base configuration. http://dellstore05.sg.dell.com/public/cart...135&sr_no=1 I have a Dell Inspiron 6400, and Dell's service has been great !

Lowest Rates Possible To A Particular Airtel Number In Haryana
Arun replied to rocking_dude2011's topic in The Lounge
It is better to have the same network at both sides, as there are on-net offers with unlimited talk time for a fixed rent for most providers. Since you say she can't change from AirTel, look for an on-net offer from AirTel itself. -

Reliance Communications rings in Rs 3,000 crore GSM expansion Friday, July 06, 2007 03:20:40 AM Times News Network With its plans to launch pan-India GSM operations being delayed, Reliance Communications (RCOM) is now embarking on a Rs 3,000-crore ($740 million) plan to add 17 million new lines to its existing GSM networks in eight telecom circles. Over the next nine months, RCOM proposes to beef up the total capacity of its eight GSM networks — Kolkata, West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, North-East, Assam, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh — to 20 million lines from a little over three million now. The company’s cost per line for adding 17 million GSM lines at a capex of $740 million works out roughly at $43. If this GSM expansion project goes per plan, by March 2008, RCOM’s GSM coverage is slated to extend across 9,000 towns and three lakh villages. For its Rs 3,000-crore plan, RCOM will source GSM equipment from three vendors — Alcatel Lucent, Huawei and ZTE Corp. ET sent an e-mail questionnaire to RCOM seeking details of the GSM equipment procurement mix. In its response, the RCOM spokesperson said: “A large-scale network expansion is underway in the eight existing GSM circles, which on completion would multiply the existing network capacity, thereby enabling RCOM to offer the widest network reach to many million customers in these circles. We can’t share specifics on the precise outlay or the vendors but we have been in talks with Alcatel Lucent, Huwaei and ZTE.” RCOM had initially planned to launch GSM services on a pan-India level during the current fiscal. The company had applied for GSM spectrum in 15 circles over a year ago but has so far not been allocated spectrum. RCOM is set for a long wait as the government is yet to decide whether companies can offer both GSM and CDMA technologies with the same licence. Telecom regulator Trai is currently carrying out a consultation process seeking the industry’s views on reviewing key licence conditions. The process also seeks to re-work the existing merger and acquisition guidelines and also find answers to the crucial question of whether operators can be allowed to provide both GSM and CDMA-based services in the same circle. If there is consensus that players should be permitted to offer both CDMA and GSM services, the process will then lay down guidelines to specify both priority and methodology to be followed for spectrum allocation in such cases, Trai has said. All stakeholders have time till Friday (July 6) to submit their comments on these issues to the regulator. Stage two of RCOM’s pan-India GSM play can only crystallise once department of telecom (DoT) takes a call on the company’s application for GSM spectrum in the other 15 circles. At the same time, RCOM has invited separate bids for about 75 million GSM lines for these 15 circles in what is said to be the world’s biggest telecom tender, valued at nearly $7-8 billion. Over five network majors, including Ericsson, Huwaei and ZTE, are learnt to have submitted their proposals in response to RCOM’s requests for proposal, but the company is expected to finalise the deal only after the DoT issues guidelines on the new licence conditions, industry sources said. RCOM’s existing GSM networks will be EDGE-enabled and 3G-ready, said company sources. The mobile network equipment is likely to include the gamut of active electronics for DELs (digital exchange lines) from service support nodes, gateway support nodes, and media gateways. Incidentally, the Rs 3,000-crore investment plan to reinforce GSM networks is part of the $2.5 billion (Rs 10,000 crore) capital expenditure plans for the current fiscal.

Arun replied to kshah's topic in Technical / OS related
The cookies are ok, but most of the files in the screenshot belongs to well known softwares. So I don't think those are potentially dangerous. Which anti-virus/spyware software is it ? -
Thats nice, and do they have plans to launch 6800 as well ?
-
Wonderful !!! yes that is a very annoying error message that pops up when connecting, will try this out...

You can just connect your ZTE MC 315 Data Card directly to your laptop's PCMCIA slot. If Reliance's network is available in those places, then NetConnect is also available, as the whole pan-India network is capable of providing NetConnect.
