Well, you are safe actually and so you need not worry about it as Kaspersky Internet Security has blocked the intrusion attempt from some bot in China it seems. Moreover, it is less likely to affect you as it affects only if you are running an unpatched Windows MS SQL server.

Do you mean to have UTStar and Classic as main forums instead of sub forums, right ? GTran can be replaced by downgrading it to a sub-forum since it doesn't have new handsets coming as you say. Kyocera will stay as a main forum as were some new handsets recently launched and the Kyo 7135 is too good to be replaced

Reliance Communication To Enter Gsm Services
Arun replied to abhay's topic in Reliance Communications
Spectrum policy will address crossovers DNAindia.com Tuesday, March 06, 2007 22:20 IST The spectrum policy being finalised by the department of telecommunications (DoT) will specifically address the issue of “crossover spectrum allocation,” it is learnt. Crossover refers to a scenario where a CDMA (code division multiple access) telecom player may want to switch over or expand into GSM (global system for mobile communications) platform. Only Anil Ambani’s Reliance Communications (RCom), a CDMA major, is keen on a switchover to the GSM platform. Although RCom has already floated a mega tender for GSM, there’s no clarity yet on how the government would allocate spectrum for the company’s GSM services. Since the company has a pan-India CDMA presence, the modality and quantum of spectrum allocation for its GSM operations need to be sorted out, according to a source. Reliance Telecom, also owned by Anil Ambani, has 3.8 million GSM subscribers across eight circles. But, now RCom wants to have a pan-India GSM presence. The company has reiterated time and again that it wants to continue with its CDMA service while expanding its GSM base. RCom has over 27 million CDMA users across the country. GSM market leader Bharti has 33.7 million mobile subscribers, and Hutch Essar has 24.35 million. The spectrum policy, expected to be notified sometime in April, will also address issues like allocation for 3G spectrum, wireless broadband connectivity, and additional spectrum for 2G operators. Besides DoT officials, experts from the IITs and IISc are involved in finalising the policy. The group of ministers headed by external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee, slated to look into the vacation of spectrum by the defence forces, is yet to meet. Official sources, though, say the defence forces will vacate 45 mega hertz of spectrum for use in telecom (both 2G and 3G) in the next four months. As for Reliance’s GSM tender, telecom equipment vendors including Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, Huawei and ZTE are believed to have already responded. The tender is for a total of 75 million 2G lines and 25 million 3G lines and is estimated at over $6 billion. The total GSM subscriber base in the country is at 110.5 million, while CDMA has 45.8 million (including fixed wireless). The total telecom base (fixed and mobile) is expected to cross 200 million by the end of this month from 196 million as of January 31. -

Roaming Charges Are Set To Fall By February 2007
Arun posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Times News Network 12 Jan, 2007 0038 hrs IST For those who travel frequently, it's now going to be far easier to keep in touch with work and family. For, despite opposition from industry, Trai is set to enforce lower roaming charges for consumers using mobile phones outside their service areas. According to sources, Trai is strongly inclined to do away with the Rs 50 rental as well as the 15% surcharge on roaming. It also intends to regulate incoming and outgoing call categories for both local and inter-circle calls at a lower rate. Trai's directive to mobile operators is expected by the month-end. Trai favours the Home Pricing rule. Simply put, this will charge a roaming customer the same tariff as they would pay for calls in their home service area. For example, a Delhi mobile user, while in Mumbai, will pay the same rate as he pays in Delhi for the most part. The numbers who will gain from this move are significant. Even if 10% of mobile users roam, that's nearly 1.5 crore subscribers who stand to benefit from the reduction. It is the first time since 2002 that Trai is taking firm steps to reduce roaming tariffs which are much higher than the cost incurred by mobile operators to provide the facility. -------------------------------------- interesting... Reliance Communitications very recently announced that roaming rental was hiked to Rs.50 from Rs.25 per month -
anuraz/GSV13, I think someone had asked it here. back to the topic... I just noticed that CAPTCHA was disabled in the Registration settings after the 2.2.x upgrade ! No wonder SPAM topics were on the rise even though Invision Power claimed that combating SPAM will be much better in 2.2.x using the advanced CAPTCHA method which utilizes GD2 library and random fonts. I have just enabled this, lets see how it goes now.

Arrest Ambanis For Not Providing New Cellphone: Kolkata Court
Arun posted a topic in Reliance Communications
Zee News Kolkata, February 19 2007 A consumer court here has issued arrest warrants against Ambani brothers, Mukesh and Anil, for alleged failure of Reliance Infocomm to comply with its order to supply a new mobile handset to an aggrieved customer. Calcutta District Forum (Unit-1) president M Roy issued the warrants against the brothers on February 13 and directed the respective police stations to produce them before him on March 1st. The warrants were issued after Reliance Infocomm, which was under the control of Mukesh earlier but later went under Anil following the split between them, "failed" to comply with the order of CDF on August 26, 2005, that the company should supply a fresh mobile handset worth Rs 10,500 within 30 days and a sum of Rs 2000 as compensation to the customer, Subhash Priyadarshi. The warrants directed Nariman point police station, Mumbai, and park street police station, Kolkata, to arrest Mukesh and Anil and produce them before the forum. Both the companies declined to comment when contacted. Priyadarshi, a businessman, had filed the complaint against Reliance Infocomm in 2004, when the Ambani brothers were together, claiming that the company did not honour the subscription agreement that it would provide a new set if the old one is lost. Reliance Infocom contended before the CDF that it had no jurisdiction to entertain the case and that the complainant had no good and sufficient ground for bringing the case against them. -

Haven't they provided any phone number ? -
Yes, entering the random letters/numbers is called CAPTCHA method, which is already implemented at RIMweb.in when registering. Unfortunately, the CAPTCHA method is cracked by spambots already. Interesting idea there Vishal, worth a try indeed, I'll look into it.

Arun replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
Consumer court recalls warrants against Ambani brothers Zee News Kolkata, February 20 2007 Arrest warrants against the Ambani brothers, Mukesh and Anil, issued by a consumer court here were recalled today after Reliance Infocomm moved a petition. The Calcutta District Forum (Unit-1) ordered the recall of the warrants after a petition was moved on behalf of the Ambanis along with a demand draft of Rs 14,000. The forum had earlier issued the warrants against the Ambanis after Reliance Infocomm failed to comply with its award directing the company to supply a new mobile handset worth Rs 10,500 and Rs 2000 as compensation to an aggrieved customer. The award was given by the forum after Subhas Priyadarshi alleged in a petition that Reliance Infocomm, which was under Mukesh Ambani earlier but later went to Anil Ambani following their split, had failed to honour a subscription agreement that it would provide a new mobile set if the phone given by the company was lost or stolen within three years. The matter will be heard on March 1. -
Here is a recent positive verdict from a Consumer Court against Reliance... so there is hope !

As you may have noticed, almost all such topics are being removed off the forum within 5 - 10 minutes. We are getting around 5 such topics per day these days, and it doesn't happen during any particular time of the day, but throughout the day. As Mr.Vista has pointed it out, these posts are created by Spambots, rather then human beings. I have mentioned about it in this topic. Anyway, I am planning on a "permanent" fix for this issue by not allowing new member's topics to be displayed without a moderator's approval. This will apply only for the first topic/post by a new member and once his/her first topic/post is approved by a moderator, he/she can post further without the need of approval from a moderator.

I double clicked the .msstyles file, but it just opened the Appearence tab in Display Properties. I did not find anything new in the drop down. Is something wrong in my Display Properties ? I also extracted the "VistaVG" folder to \Resources\Themes\ , but didn't see anything new either.

Sorry for the newbie question, but how do I install this .msstyles file for the theme ?

Vodafone bags Hutch for US$ 19.3 Billion !
Arun replied to sanket55555's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Vodafone pledges US$ 2 billion investments, low tariffs Press Trust of India February 14, 2007 05:50:02 PM Vodafone has said it would invest $2 bn over the next couple of years to expand Hutch-Essar's reach in rural India, while promising cheaper mobile rates and better services to customers. "We will try to get more rural areas covered with this investment. The money will be invested in infrastructure and various operations and for expansion of tele-density and reach to customers," Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin told reporters here on his first visit after the Hutch-Essar win. India-born Sarin said customers can look forward to cheaper call rates, better handsets and value-added services like banking and money transfer once it enters the country. While stating that he expects to close the deal precisely in April, Sarin said the company would retain the Hutch brand for some time and that customers would be consulted before changing the brand. "This (Hutch-Essar) is the biggest company in the Vodafone group in terms of subscriber base," he said, commenting on Hutch-Essar, India's fourth largest mobile player with 24.4 million customers. He said he now intends to make Hutch-Essar the country's number one player with a target of 100 million customers. Mobile leader Bharti Airtel has over 33 million users. Sarin, who graduated from IIT-Kharagpur, also described the deal as a homecoming. "This is what we used to talk during the IIT days." While Vodafone had bid 11.1 billion dollars for Hong Kong-based Hutchison Telecom's (HTIL) 67 per cent stake in the mobile venture, its actual stake acquisition would be only 52 per cent as the remaining 15 per cent is held by minority Indian shareholders who have opted to continue as partners. On Vodafone's offer to buyout the 33 per cent stakeholder Essar from the mobile venture, Sarin said his first, second and third preference would be that the Indian conglomerate should stay put. "But its their decision... my intention is to help Essar take a positive decision." He had earlier ruled out increasing the offer for buying out Essar, saying it would be at the same price as given for Hutchison Telecom's 67 per cent stake. If Essar decides to exit, Vodafone had other options, which includes minority shareholders increasing their stake to 26 per cent. "This is only one option. Another obvious option is that we will go with another Indian partner... its all too early to say," Sarin said. On provisions that allow Vodafone to walk out of the deal if it gets entangled in legal conflicts for more than a year, he said: "We are here in India to stay for a long time, not to walk out... any contract has certain clauses... we intend to be here for a long time." Sarin said Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran was very excited about Vodafone's entry into India because of the capital that the company would inject and greater telecom penetration. Hutch-Essar Managing Director Asim Ghosh, who holds under five per cent in the venture, said that Hutch covers 40 per cent of the population in the 16 circles where it has operations. This would increase to 45 per cent when services are up and running in all the 23 circles, he said. On the revamping the Hutch-Essar management, Sarin said no firm decision has been taken as yet, but "my vote is with Asim Ghosh." -
