[Android] Mods-build.prop Tweaks (CDMA only)
Arun replied to dr.faramroze's topic in Technical / OS related
Does this tweak change the number (remove 0091) when we try to call back the number or does it change the format in the incoming call display itself? I tried adding the lines (as it did not exist) in Samsung Galaxy S3 CDMA but the incoming call display continues to show 0091 number format and so it doesn't show the name from contacts. It shows the name in the call log history though.- 25 replies

I have checked a few caller ID replacement apps and none of them show the name in the incoming call display when the number format starts with 0091. It shows the name in the call log though. So it looks like there is no fix for this issue. Good to know that MIUI has a full screen caller ID replacement but did you check whether it shows name if incoming call number has 0091 format? Let me know if you want me to test as my Vodafone number shows 0091 when calling Reliance number.

Tried ExDialer and the call history works fine. It also shows the 0091 format numbers with the contact name too. Unfortunately it does not have a Caller ID to show during incoming call. Incoming call shows the stock display for you on the MIUI ROM, right?
-
Ok, did you check the 2 issues in MIUI ROM?
-
I wonder if using an alternate dialer+phone book app like Go Contacts EX will resolve the 2 issues that I mentioned in post #189. Have to compare and find the best stock replacement dialer+phone book app first.

Happy Birthday, Kapil!

SPC is on the cover box if you bought it from Parin
-
Do you use custom ROM on S3?
-
Right, Prefixer app doesn't show it properly either.
-
oh i c, even on custom ROMs?
-
I am on stock ROM and I notice a couple of issues in the phonebook when compared to that of other handsets like HTC EVO 4G LTE. As mobile numbers are stored in the format 09xxxxxxxxx, when the incoming call shows up as 00919xxxxxxxxx, S3 does not show up the name from the phone book. Calls from some operators do show up in this format. Prefixer app has an option for incoming calls, but that shows up as a small notification box and does not change in the main contact display during an incoming call. Has anyone seen this working fine on a custom ROM or a different dialer on S3? Another issue that I have noticed is with the call history in phone book. Sometimes it shows the list of all calls for a number when you open the number from the "Logs", while sometimes (have to say more) it doesn't show any call history at all for a number. HTCs used to display the call history of a number accurately when you check in Call Log

Not sure if you were able to get the NV dump yet from Parin as he is on vacation this week. You may want to check the following: Dial: ##3282# Edit Enter your SPC code Others > HDR/1X selection If it is selected with "CDMA Only Mode", try changing it to "Hybrid Mode"

Yeah, try uploading the NV dump file again.
-
Done the OTA update to LI3 build and everything continues to work fine including EVDO. Going to do the CWM recovery, Nandroid backup and then the root.
-
Get the NV dump file from seller and upload it to handset using CDMA work shop and see if it connect to EVDO
-
Ah ok, will update the OTA then and do the root later. Yes, I do have the NV dump, A-key, etc. thanks to Parin.

I got a new Samsung Galaxy S3. Upon connecting to the internet, it shows an Android system update with size 81.5 MB. So based on your experiences I should not opt for this update? I do want to root the handset to install/use a few apps that require root.

Panasonic TH-P50GT50D (GT50) Plasma TV Review
Arun replied to Arun's topic in General Technical Discussion
They won't ship anywhere outside Trivandrum. There must be many dealers for Panasonic in Pune from where you can buy it? See the first post for the cost details. -
