Big 92.7 Fm From Adlabs (reliance) To Roll Out First Phase In Six Metros
Arun replied to abhay's topic in Reliance Communications
Adlabs Radio: It's 'Big', young and contemporary AgencyFAQs Mumbai, September 05, 2006 The much-awaited radio foray by Adlabs Radio will happen in a month's time. "Big 92.7 FM" will be launched in four-six weeks in the six metros and other areas such as Srinagar, Jhansi, Bikaner, Aligarh, etc. The company has got licences for 45 radio stations in India, but among the first to go on air will be Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi. "Big 92.7 FM" will be primarily targeted at young adults in the 18-35-year age bracket. The positioning of the radio stations will be "young and contemporary". "Our radio stations will cater to human emotions of the listeners and will have 40 per cent of unduplicated music," explains Tarun Katial, COO, Adlabs Radio. Elaborating further on Big 92.7 FM's uniqueness, Katial says, "For our radio stations, the listener is the hero, not the station itself." Mature, credible and distinct content is what this radio station promises. About the music, it will air music from all genres and will cater to all segments including all SECs, according to Katial. "We will primarily look at each region and content will be decided accordingly. The shows will be completely different in each of the regions," he states. It will have celebrity radio jockeys for prime shows during the breakfast time band. The celebrity will be a known name from the film, television or music fraternity. To top it all, 'Big 92.7 FM' will have a celebrity brand ambassador. Adlabs Radio is investing more than Rs 45 crore in the marketing and communication of its radio venture. About the media mix, Katial says that television will be the priority, unlike other radio stations, and adds: "The rationale behind this is to convert even the non-listeners of radio to listeners." Apart from television, the media mix will comprise below-the-line activities, outdoor and print. For its marketing communications, Adlabs Radio has appointed JWT as its creative agency and Optimum Media Solutions as its media agency. One advantage Big Radio will be looking to leverage upon is the massive mobile phone user subscriber base that sister concern and telecom major Reliance Infocomm provides. Big Radio will be introducing a lot of interactive features with the specific aim of building a community of cell users hooked in to the station, industry sources have told the media. -
Ofcourse M$ can get the domain if they battle it out in court by filing a legal suit since they have trademark rights. Looks as though IE8.com through IE13.com are already registered, not by M$ though !
-
hehe, interesting one... seems to be happenning for all sentences that have 4, 3, 3, and 5 letters, respectively... so no conspiracy from M$ there

This topic was initially moved to the Junkyard by a moderator on the same day, but I wasn't sure whether the OP had seen the replies in the topic before it was removed. It was me who moved it back to the General Chat forum later. My intention was to make it clear for him (and others) that he/she will eventually get caught if such an act is done. And since there is no information in this thread which contains sources where you can get illegal contents, I guess the thread is clean for now. And thats exactly what Abhay concluded in his post too

South Korea's Samsung Electronics demonstrates 4G mobile technology - Telecoms Korea 31 Aug 2006 08:34:00 GMT SEOUL: Korean electronics powerhouse Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said it has successfully demonstrated 4th generation (4G) mobile technology, the first in the world to do so. In the new technology, data transmission can be done at speeds up to 50 times faster than current mobile WiMAX technology. Samsung said the demonstration was carried out on a speeding bus and data could be transmitted between mobile transmitters and receivers at a speed of up to 100 Mbps. It takes about 2.4 seconds to transfer 100 MP3 files (300MByte), 5.6 seconds to transfer 1 Movie (800MByte) at speeds of 1 Gpbs. Don't get all excited just yet, though; those gut-wrenching speeds aren't expected to be commercially available until 2010. Even so, Samsung is hoping to somehow herd all of these cats, companies that will use this technology someday, hopefully alleviating another Blu-ray versus HD DVD-type scenario The new generation technology, featuring mobility, ubiquity, faster speed capabilities and convergence, is an upgraded version of existing wireless communications platforms and will pave the way for a ubiquitous era, according to Samsung The company's telecommunications network business unit president Lee Ki-tae said Samsung hopes to drive the development and standardization of 4G mobile technology with this successful demonstration, and to realize its dream of beginning the 4G era. The company will work with associated parties for the successful commercialization of 4G technology, he added. The International Telecommunications Union defines 4G technology as a future wireless telecommunications technology allowing data transfer rates of 1Gbps at nomadic circumstances and 100Mbps at mobile circumstances. The spectrum for 4G technology will be decided at the World Radiocommunication Conference in October of 2007. The 4G mobile communications format is expected to become commercially available around 2010. ... and add another 10 years to come to India :'(

Royalities killing CDMA? - MoneyControl.com 2006-08-30 20:45 1.7 million new subscribers in July, yet questions are being raised on the future of CDMA technology in India specially since Reliance Communications dialled GSM. And these concerns have prompted James Person, the COO of the Global CDMA industry body CDG to pay India a visit. Person believes royalty rates is a commercial issue between operators and Qualcomm and the CDG doesn't have a role to play. However, he doesn't expect the existing royalty rates to spoil the CDMA growth story in India. "We haven't seen it impact growth yet with the record number of CDMA users added in July. We are pleased with its growth; it is growing as fast as the overall telecom market," said James S Person, COO, CDG. Person is believed to have met top Reliance and Tata Tele officials in Mumbai on Tuesday. "When we talked to Reliance and Tata, we tried to make sure they understand what is the CDMA roadmap. That's smooth migration path from EVDO to Rev A, Rev B and Rev C and then onto 4G. They have access to our programmes that will reduce cost of handsets and then of course, they can make their decisions," he added. Person believes that the price differential between GSM and CDMA entry level handsets is only about USD 4. But that's far from the USD 10 figure quoted by operators like Qualcomm chief Paul Jacobs. Person also believes CDMA operators like Reliance are toying with the idea of a technology switch only because of the government's spectrum allocation criteria.

Converting is possible, but it depends on the availability of a convertor. I've checked the list of forums that Invision supports here, and as you may notice, Web Wiz is not listed there. However, they may do a custom conversion for a price, you can request their Conversion Team by emailing to: conversions [at] invisionpower.com They do have free convertors (but for other forum softwares only), which can be found here.

Tanveer, I've just tested it by uploading a .rar file as attachment but I couln't get any error as above. The error you have posted doesn't suggest it to be an attachment type problem though, can you try again and check whether it still persit ?

Are you looking for CDMA or GSM handets. CDMA handsets are generally priced higher than GSM handsets. Anyway, Rs.2500 is too low for a camera phone in India. It should cost around Rs.5500+ The models you can look for are: Motorola L6, LG C2500, Seimens C75, Nokia 6020, Sony Ericsson K300i, etc.

Rediff.com August 21, 2006 09:52 IST Forget low call tariffs, cheap text messages, package offers, and discount plans. You could soon be paying nothing for making calls from your mobile phone, provided you have the patience to listen to 30-45 second ad jingles or commercials before a call goes through. The service, christened "sponsored calls", is set to be offered soon by an Indian mobile operator, and will be similar to the one launched last year in the US. In the final stages of preparation, the marketing initiative is expected to be offered on local calls made within a network. However, Arvind Rao, chief executive officer and founder of OnMobile, which developed this value-added service, declined to name the operator that intends to launch the service. A senior executive with Bharti Airtel said the company had not made up its mind on offering the service "immediately." In other instances of direct marketing on mobile phones entering a new dimension, mobile operators will soon be offering options that allow a mobile subscriber to choose a company's signature tune as his ring tone. Callers to that particular number will listen to a jingle that sells the company's product, or promotes its brand. "With a person receiving at least 10 to 15 calls every day, this form of direct marketing is bound to create a lasting impression," he said. While Rao declined to name the service provider launching this particular scheme, he emphasised that it was not the same operator that was launching sponsored calls. At present, officials of corporates such as ITC, Fortis, and Ford India, and mobile operators like Airtel, Hutch and Idea have customised music as their ring tones. Meanwhile, Airtel has tested another marketing initiative involving 45 restaurants in Bangalore. Subscribers in the vicinity receive short message services from Airtel, offering discounts at the restaurants.

Yes, thats a bummer ! The reason why vibrate mode is disabled when charging is because if it is plugged into the cradle, and then begins to vibrate, the connector could get damaged. Even if you are charging using the charger directly (i.e., without the cradle), it wouldn't vibrate since they have designed it like that keeping the cradle charger in mind. There are 2 work arounds here... 1) Goto: Phone Prefs > phone alerts and choose "Light Only" before going to sleep. This will just make the screen to flash when call comes. 2) Change the ring tone to a "silent tone" at night when you are charging. I've attached a silent tone with this post. silent_ringers_pdb.zip

Premium SMS charges set to be reduced Business Standard / New Delhi August 22, 2006 Charges on premium SMS could get cheaper with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) asking operators to voluntarily reduce charges on such SMS. Premium SMS are those sent to, for example, vote for your favourite contestant in a talent hunt or on who is the biggest super star in the country. In a letter to all mobile operators, Trai say, “It is felt that the charges on premium SMS are high and bear no relationship with the cost and nature of services rendered. We hope telecom operators will voluntarily reduce the charges of these SMS and the authority henceforth would closely monitor the trends.” Trai has also asked operators and content providers to include a clause publicising the tariff applicable for such SMS. The premium SMS charges should also be on short code SMS numbers. SMS charges for competition programmes vary from Rs 3 to Rs 10 and for some premium messages they are as high as Rs 35. SMS revenues make up over 6 per cent of the total telecom revenues. “We are aware of the notice and will do the needful,” T V Ramachandran, director general, Cellular Operator Association of India, said. S C Khanna, Secretary general, Association of United Telecom Service Providers of India, points out: “These rates are determined by competition and Trai has given us forberance”. The regulator, however, felt there will be no termination charges for SMS and operators will have the forbearance on interconnection usage charges (IUC) as charges will continue for the present. Certain sections say traffic imbalance of SMS is insignificant and does not call for an intervention, with the present system of “Keep and Bill” being seen as practical. In most countries, SMS termination charges are not regulated, and in cases where it is, it is with mutual agreement with operators. Also, the regulation would require installing or upgrading the billing system for the inter-operator settlement which will affect the capital expenditure of operators. This will, therefore, make it disappropriate to termination charges.

IDEA's offer is different and there are no advertisement. So yes, its not a "first time offer" among Indian mobile operators.

Rift Between Reliance Communications And Tata Teleservices On 3g Spectrum Policy
Arun replied to vmsanghrajka's topic in The Lounge
Reliance to ask Tata Tele to fall in line on 3G Business Standard / New Delhi August 21, 2006 Interconnect with industry, company to tell fellow CDMA operator. Reliance Communications will soon write a letter to fellow CDMA operator Tata Teleservices asking it to toe the industry's line on the pricing of 3G spectrum. The letter comes after differences over the 3G pricing led to CDMA operators' body Association of Unified telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI) skipping the meeting called by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) to discuss the issue of 3G pricing. Sources familiar with the development said the letter would suggest that Tata Teleservices “interconnect” with the industry and participate in the harmonious growth of the telecom sector and national teledensity targets. When contacted, Reliance Communications officials declined to comment. Reliance Communications is also writing a letter to Trai to reiterate how the economic model it had suggested would help make 3G services affordable and meet the teledensity target of the government. While Tata Teleservices has suggested a Rs 1,500-crore 3G licence fee for a pan-India rollout, Reliance Communications has suggested a hybrid model and a graded fee structure aggregating to a sum of Rs 300 crore for a national 3G licence. It says with seven national operators, it would cover the government’s costs of refarming defence spectrum. Differences between the two operators on the bandwidth and pricing of 3G had led to AUSPI pulling out of the Trai meeting. -
I liked some of the old emoticons too, thats why I've left a few of them in the main page. Increasing the number of emoticons from default number of 24 icons will make the posting page longer and can take more time to load too.
