Why do you need to use the WAP browser when most PDAs have full fledged browsers which will work fine over Net Connect (R-Connect) !

For Reliance numbers, you can check here. But all numbers won't be available since it can be delisted by the customer and many numbers may not be updated in their database, I guess its a pretty old database that you will find there.

Google Talk adds File Transfer, Voicemail eWeek.com - Wednesday, August 16, 2006 Google will announce later today several upgrades to Google Talk. The upgrades, which come on near the product's one year anniversary, include: File transfer - The "top requested" feature of GTalk users. You can share any type of file, several at a time if you want, including photos of course. According to a Google representative, when you drop up to 10 photos on Google Talk, smaller previews automatically appear right inside the chat window, so you can chat about them right away. Voicemail - You can now leave voicemails for any of your Google Talk contacts when they don't answer a call, but you can also easily record voice notes and send them to anyone you know by just adding their email address to your contact list. They don't even have to be running Google Talk. According to the same Google rep: "This is a fun and easy way to just say hello, send someone a reminder, or sing your mom happy birthday. :-)" The Gmail team has added the ability to playback voicemail messages within Gmail. Music status sharing - Users can opt to display the titles of the songs they are listening to in their status bar when Google Talk detects that a supported music player is running. Music Status currently supports iTunes, Windows Media Player, Winamp, and Yahoo Music Engine. We look forward to supporting more players in the future. You will be able to download the updates on the Talk site. Singing happy birthday to your mom is optional. Google Talk is Google's late entry into the instant messaging market, following AOL's AIM, Microsoft's MSN Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger with Voice. Microsoft and Yahoo recently announced that they were allowing their two IM clients to interoperate. Meanwhile Google and AOL are planning on making their IM clients interoperable by 2007. When Google launched GTalk, AOL owned about 52% of the IM market, Yahoo owned 24%, and Microsoft had 17.7%, acording to ComScore. One year on, the latest statistics show that GTalk still lags behind its major competitors, with only about 1 million users.

more Dhirubhaisms for you... A G Krishnamurthy - Rediff.com August 11, 2006 On Dhirubhai H Ambani again, unabashedly so, and for a very good reason. I guess it must have struck many readers by now that I idolised Dhirubhai. They are right. I do. Every column I write on Dhirubhaism invites an outpouring of mail, some even requesting me to mail them the previous column on Dhirubhaism. And I am glad that I have an opportunity to share what I've learned from Dhirubhai with you. He was a one-in-a-million human being, and I was blessed to have had him as my boss. He taught me many things that have transformed an ordinary executive that I was, to be the founder chairman of an agency that grew from nothing to one of India's largest. I would have never achieved that without him. It would be a shame if I then let his extraordinary teachings gather dust. And judging by the response I receive, it looks like there are some really eager learners out there. So here goes. Dhirubhaism: Leave the professional alone! Much as people would like to believe, most owners (even managers and clients), though eager to hire the best professionals in the field, do so and then use them as extensions of their own personality. Every time I come across this, which is much too often, I am reminded of how Dhirubhai's management techniques used to be (and still remain) so refreshingly different. For instance, way back in the late 1970s when we decided to open an agency of our own, he asked me to name it. I carried a short list of three names, two Westernised and one Indian. It was a very different world back then. Everything Anglicised was considered "upmarket." There were hardly any agencies with Indian names barring my own ex-agency Shilpi and a few others like Ulka and Sistas. He looked at the list and asked me what my choice was. I said "Mudra": it was the only name that suited my personality. And the spirit of the agency that I was to head. I was very Indian and an Anglicised name on my visiting card would seem pretentious and contrived. No further questions were asked. No suggestions offered, just a plain and simple "Go ahead and do it." That was just the beginning. He continued to give me total freedom -- no supervision, no policing -- in all my decisions thereafter. In fact, the only direction that he gave me, just once, was this: "Produce your best." His utter trust in me was what pushed me to never, ever let him down. I guess the simplest strategies are often the hardest to adopt. That was the secret of the Dhirubhai legend. It was not out of a book. It was a skillful blend of head and heart. Dhirubhaism: Change your orbit, constantly! To understand this statement, let me explain Dhirubhai's "orbit theory." He would often explain that we are all born into an orbit. It is up to us to progress to the next. We could choose to live and die in the orbit that we are born in. But that would be a criminal waste of potential. When we push ourselves into the next orbit, we benefit not only ourselves but everyone connected with us. Take India's push for development. There was once a time our country's growth rate was just 4 per cent, sarcastically referred to as the "Hindu growth rate." Look at us today, galloping along at a healthy 7-8 per cent. This is no miracle. It is the product of a handful of determined orbit changers like Dhirubhai, all of whose efforts have benefited a larger sphere in their respective fields. In a small way, I too have experienced the thrill of changing orbits with Mudra. In the 1980s, we leapt from the orbit of a small Ahmedabad ad agency to become the country's third largest ad agency -- in just under a decade. However, when you change orbits, you will create friction. The good news is that your enemies from your previous orbit will never be able to reach you in your new one. By the time resentment builds up in your new orbit, you should move to the next level. And so on. Changing orbits is the key to our progress as a nation.

@tanveer: Thats right, email validation is already in place since the beginning... but these spam bots are quite smart for that @adwait: It sure is an interesting tactic, I'll research more on it, thanks !

True... one of my friend using Toshiba (imported from USA) has a vertical line across the screen now, and another friend having HP (imported from the Gulf) is having the same problem in his screen. Interestingly, the line appeared after the expiry of "guarentee period" for both !

Are you referring to using Internet on your laptop using Kyocera 7135's infrared ? That would be painfully slow to use internet, even if you were able to figure out how to configure it.
-
Anyway, whats the "phone" and "PDA" software version number of your Kyocera 7135 ?
-
99% visitors aren't from India, but about 80% are as per the statistics. Moreover, creating a "white-list" for Indian traffic is not really practical since that would require the list of *all* Indian IP ranges and the large number of ISPs in India doesn't help in that.

Yes, R-UIM slot enabled CDMA handsets can work with the R-UIM cards supplied by Reliance. I belive Ashok Karkera is already using Reliance on his Chineese Nokia 6275i And yes, R-World won't be there, anyway who wants it -
Centre Announces Package Of Rs 500 Crore For Flood-hit Gujarat
Arun replied to theking's topic in The Lounge
<off-topic> I've seen in NDTV as scroll advertisement that "Reliance is the only operational network in South Gujarat during the floods", a couple of days ago. Was it true ? other networks were totally down or was Reliance making a false statement there ? </off-topic> -
wow, that defenitely is a good deal at 48k ! The AMD Turion 64 X2 does fare as much as the Intel Core Duo in terms of performace as both are geared for multi-tasking performance and longer battery life. I would recommend you to go for it.

Unfortunately, Spam is an occupational hazard on public forums like RIMweb. Please note that these spam topics are not posted by humans, but by "spam bots" which can overcome email validation and even image verification (the commonly used image verification CAPTCHA method isn't effective anymore as spammers have cracked the method with workarounds) during registration. We are seeing about 3 - 4 spam topics per day being posted by such spam bots these days. The moderators are moving such topics to the Junkyard as soon as they see them. We can have manual verification by an Administrator for new registrations in order to prevent such spam bots from signing up, but that would be too restrictive if we want people to be able to register on their own. Having such restrictions may not be the ideal solution in a public forum, and thats exactly what these spam bots make use of. Spam issues in forums are just like the spam you receive in your email inbox, but the absense of a standard anti-spam algorithm or an universal black-list database makes it difficult for forums to filter spam, unlike your email's spam filter system. The emergence of intelligent forum spam bots recently have seen a rise in spam at various forums running Invision Power Board, VBB, phpBB, etc. 75% of these reported spam bots are of Russian origin, so it does make sense to block Russian traffic. We are going to implement certain blocks (IP based and mail domain filters) in the coming days in order to cut down the number of spam topics, and in such a way that the genuine visitors/members won't get affected by these blocks. In our effort to combat spam, we request members to help the moderators in keeping the forum spam free. If you come across or if you have a feeling that a particular topic is spam, please use the "Report this post to a moderator" link by clicking the button that you see under every post. The "Report this post to a moderator" function allows members to notify all moderators of any particular violations by providing a direct link to the infraction and the opportunity to provide an explanation of the concern. This should help the moderators to remove the reported spam topic quicker. I'll keep this topic open for any suggestions/comments from the members regarding this issue...

It won't work for the @yahoo.com account as POP/SMTP for @yahoo.com became a paid service long ago. It was free for @yahoo.co.in account and I hope it is still available. Make sure your POP and SMTP settings are correctly set to the following: pop3 server : pop.mail.yahoo.co.in smtp server : smtp.mail.yahoo.co.in server authantication : on secure connection : off And as amit pointed out, you need to activate your pop3 service first, for which you need to log into your email account, goto options, click "pop access and forwarding" and activate the pop service.

There isn't any solution other than to create and upload using Bitpim. But not all phones can be used with BitPim. Looks as though you are having a Samsung SCH 191, it does have better rintone volume than the same grade LG phones anyway.

Yes, after you connect the USB data cable that comes integrated with the charging cradle to the laptop's USB port, run the "Fax/Modem" application in the Palm. This will detect the modem in the PC and will start installing the modem. Get the modem driver here. For the dialer, just create a new connection from Dial up Network.

I don't think you can use IR to connect via Net Connect (R-Connect) from the PC. These are the possible ways in which you can use the Kyocera 7135 to connect to the internet from your PC: 1. You can use your Kyocera 7135 as a wireless modem by: • placing the phone in its cradle and connecting the cradle to your computer’s USB • placing the phone in its cradle and connecting the cradle to your computer’s serial port • using the optional USB data cable • using the optional Serial Data cable Just curious, didn't you get the standard cradle charger which comes with the integrated data cable ?
