I would recommend LG RD 5130 over 2130 as there are a lot more features in 5130 and yes, its color. The current price for LG RD 5130 in my place (Trivandrum) is Rs.3799

Reliance Infocomm may match RIL in profits in 4 years - Sify.com Tuesday, 07 June , 2005, 07:55 Bangalore: As the broad contours of the Ambani settlement story emerge, the information from the top rungs of the Reliance group suggests that Reliance Infocomm, the telecom arm that has been critical to the family split, is poised to match the flagship company, Reliance Industries Ltd, in turnover as well as net profits over the next four years. This is seen as crucial to the settlement process, and also seems to answer the rather steep Rs 29,000 crore valuation of the 50 per cent stake controlled by Mukesh Ambani in the Infocomm business. According to the asset division plan, Anil Ambani would get Infocomm, Reliance Energy and Reliance Capital besides a cash component of at least $1 billion. Mukesh Ambani would keep Reliance Industries along with IPCL. Sources said Infocomm can post revenue of over Rs 86,000 crore by the year 2009. The company earned a maiden profit of Rs 51 crore on total revenue of Rs 5,387 crore in 2004-05. This could put Anil Ambani, Vice-Chairman of Reliance Industries, on course to vie with his elder brother and Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, for a more prominent legacy for their father, the late Dhirubhai Ambani. "Infocomm business is at the tipping point. The net profit is poised to grow several hundred times a year due to higher revenue streams coming from the same assets and due to long tenure of tax benefits available to telecom service providers," sources at Reliance corporate office said. The company has already stated that it is targeting subscriber base of 100 million by 2008, up from the existing 10 million, which would make it one among the top three telecom service providers in the world along with China Telecom and China Unicom. Interestingly, Reliance Infocomm was touted as the elder brother's dream project, and his move to pump in Rs 24,000 crore as initial investment for the roll out had fuelled the family fire when the squabbling still raged only in the private domain. "The real strength of Infocomm lies not just in making available mobile communications to the masses but its untapped ability to provide a bouquet of all imaginable telecom services, IT-enabled information services and entertainment services to institutions as well as home segment. "The company has already laid integrated infrastructure as well as taken multi-pronged initiatives to develop content for delivery on mobile, landline, broadband Internet and digital television. It is fully geared to reap the benefits of convergence of technologies and services on Information Communication & Entertainment (ICE) platform," the company sources said. "We believe Infocomm is likely to match RIL both in sales and net profit by the year 2008-09. In fact, Infocomm may overshadow RIL five to seven years hence in much the same way as refining has overshadowed petrochemicals within RIL," sources added. RIL posted a turnover of Rs 73,164 crore in 2004-05. The company's turnover as well as net profit has undergone dramatic change in the last five years since the commissioning of Jamnagar refinery whose level of integration of different units is similar to Infocomm's level of integration of all elements of value chain of ICE. ------------------ nice deal eh, Anil ?

Monday, 06 June , 2005, 09:20 AM San Diego: The US-based telecom major Qualcomm is set to make India one of its major hubs for developing mobile applications using its BREW platform. The company, which has nearly 1,500 Indian engineers at its US facility, plans to tap the software skills in India. It is also aggressively working towards introducing data capabilities such as e-mail access on low-cost handsets. Peggy Johnson, President, Qualcomm Internet Services, said, "We are very happy with the developers in India and we would like to tap the software skills available to develop applications not just for the Indian operators, but also for other markets.'' Qualcomm had recently set up a research and development centre in Hyderabad to support applications for 3G services. BREW is a platform that enables application developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and customers to use Qualcomm's technology to build applications for mobile devices. Johnson, speaking on the sidelines of the BREW Conference 2005, said gaming and music would be the drivers of mobile applications in the coming months. Six of the 10 BREW-based developers in India including webdunia.com and phoneytunes.com participated in the conference in San Diego, California. Johnson said education is another segment where applications could be developed specially for the Indian market. To address the enterprise market, Qualcomm is pushing forward its BREW for the business portfolio.CDMA-based operators including Reliance Infocomm and Tata Teleservices plan to deploy these solutions on their networks. According to industry sources, Reliance Infocomm is in negotiations with handset manufacturers to launch business applications on the lines of Airtel's tie-up with Blackberry to offer mail and Internet access on the move. On the introduction of low-cost handsets, Kanwalinder Singh, President, Qualcomm India and SAARC, said the company was working with vendors to enhance data capability on the entry-level phones through the BREW platform.

The best way to transfer your old numbers from a GSM handset's SIM to your Reliance handset is use the "Phone Book Transfer" feature in R-World. I'm not sure whether its available in 6130, but in 2030, you will find it in: More Services > Tools > PhBkTransfer First of al, you need to get in touch with Reliance Web World to get this done.

But Sameer, did you get the PIN configuration for building the custom one ? Please do let us know if you are able make any progress with it.

Reliance Info Test Launches Home Netway In Gujarat

Reliance Infocomm hastens broadband plan ALOKANANDA GHOSH Wired up Calcutta, June 1: Reliance Infocomm plans to roll out its enterprise broadband services in 200 cities by the end of the year. Broadband service for enterprises consists of an integrated voice, data and video solution. The convergent voice-data-video framework is delivered through the fibre-to-the- building architecture Prakash Bajpai, president, wireline business, Reliance Infocomm, said, “We are already offering this service in 150 pockets across 30 cities in the country and are in the process of wiring up 180,000 buildings. We have already acquired over 60,000 customers across 410 companies.” The company has shortlisted 1,200 key corporate accounts and is targeting to register 800-900 of them as its customers. It has already invested Rs 1,500 crore in creating the broadband network and has earmarked another Rs 800-900 crore to be spent over the next few months. “Broadband penetration in the country is a mere 0.02 per cent,” explains Bajpai. “With the addressable market size estimated at one million subscribers, the market is grossly under-served at present. The opportunity to build robust solutions is huge and we have set a target of 0.5 million subscribers within a year.” Reliance will provide customised solutions for enterprises to deliver voice or complex data solutions, including nation-wide networking of all branches, sales and field executives, vendors, suppliers and customers at a data transfer speed of 64 kilobytes per second to 100 megabytes per second. “We are eyeing 35-40 per cent of the IT expenditure of companies coming our way. The broadband service will not only offer speedier connections to the Internet, but also help firms network their branches through Centrex like architecture. This will result in a 25-30 per cent savings for firms,” said Bajpai. He added that Reliance would first create the infrastructure to deliver broadband applications. According to Bajpai, while big companies will adopt the larger integrated solutions, the real growth will come from the SMEs, which will contribute to volume growth. “We have already got 40 per cent share of the wired building network. The aim is to cover 17 lakh buildings within the next two to three years, with a target of acquiring 10 million customers,” said Bajpai. On the retail broadband or Home Netway front, Reliance Infocomm is in the process of conducting pilot projects in Mumbai, Jamnagar and Delhi. In Bengal, the company has an arrangement with the nodal agency Webel to provide the last mile connectivity through cable operators. “With no benchmark to guideline available on the retail broadband front, we prefer to extend the pilot projects to more cities. Within the next 8-10 months we expect to be able to cover 20 million households,” he added. -
There was a way, but unfortunately not anymore as it has ceased to work now But hey, check this out !

Truce talks in final lap - Mumbai June 04, 2005 Reliance Infocomm & REL would go to Anil, while Mukesh would get Rel Ind & IPCL. The Ambani brothers are believed to be in the final stages of an agreement to split the Rs 100,000 crore Reliance group. Sources close to the developments said an announcement on the settlement was possible before the annual general meeting of group flagship Reliance Industries, scheduled to be held in June-end or the first week of July. Last year, the AGM was held on June 24. Though neither camp was willing to comment on the developments terming it as an “internal family matter”, the sources said no final settlement formula had been reached yet but “things were moving rapidly”. The sources said the fact that both camps had stopped the “proxy war through the media” was a clear signal that a truce formula was in sight. Besides, Reliance Energy’s massive investment plan in Orissa also proves that things were being sorted out. “No one makes such announcements unless the company has a clear idea of the ownership,” they said. Talks on a settlement are based on a formula proposed by family friend and ICICI Bank CEO and Managing Director KV Kamath. According to this formula, Reliance Infocomm and Reliance Energy would go to Anil Ambani, while Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani would get Reliance Industries and IPCL. The valuation of the group assets was done by Nimesh Kampani of J M Morgan Stanley. The fate of Reliance Capital is not known, with some sources saying that it might go to the sisters, Dipti Salgoacar and Nina Kothari. However, this could not be confirmed. Anil Ambani has already begun talking to executives of Reliance Infocomm, a move that strengthened the speculation that he would be taking over Infocomm. Reliance Infocomm executives refused to comment and said the company was a professionally run organisation and a change in ownership would not have any impact on operations.

that is called 'Passive Smoking' !
-
not any other, as of now

You cannot use any of the Reliance handsets to connect them to your PDA, since they do not have IrDa or Bluetooth. I haven't seen any dongle or Bluetooth ports for them yet. It will be great if you could custom build one, if you get the pin configs ! BTW, Reliance does have a PDA model from Kyocera, which has R-Connect, though they don't seem to promote the PDA nowadays.
-
Well, I'm still getting incoming calls on that number even without recharging for months now
-
If Reliance service is totally down, you can see the signal in the handset screen. If the service is available and have some other problem, then you should be able to atleast dial the number and get connected.

Yes, the URL seems to be down now, so its nearly impossible to 'escape' now. So here comes the spoliers..... The thin ring is found in the dish on the dresser where the CD player is The CD is found in the top left drawer of the dresser The piece of paper is found in the top right drawer of the dresser There is a cassette underneath the dresser, find it by clicking on the floor around the dresser The silver key is in the window when you open the curtain A thick ring is found by opening and closing the curtain multiple times. it will fall down to the floor after a few clicks Golden key: look underneath the pillow Metal stick: click around the area where headboard and mattress meet Battery: click on the floor while facing the blank wall. Click around the area towards the left. Keep clicking. Trust me, it's there. Power cord: open bottom left drawer with golden key Box: open bottom right drawer with silver key Normal key: plug power cord to CD player, turn CD player on and open disc tray. These are all of the items, and you now need to assemble the box. Click on the little box icon to expand it. Put the two rings in the little round holes and the metal stick in the long, narrow slit. Click the box and it will open. Place battery and cassette. Click box again and a movie will play. Watch it closely. Pay attention to the end: the dancer points at a star that appears on the wall. You need to place your mouse pointer over the star (don't click yet). When the movie finishes, click there and the outline of a box would appear. Click on the box outline and a safe will appear. To open the safe, use the normal key and a combination. The combination can be found out from the URL in the note, but it doesn't seem to load now. So the combination is: 1994 !
