Uday, there is no way the default lock code got changed automatically. You or anyone else must have changed it accidently. If your handset is within the warranty period, you can approach the nearest LG service center and they will reset your Lock Code for free. If its out of warranty, they may charge you Rs.160 Anyway, you can find out the current Lock Code in your handset using a software called uniCDMA, , in case your handset is out of warranty or you don't know where the service center is located. The link was posted somewhere in this forum (use the search button to find it). Download/Install it and connect your handset using a data cable and you will find your lock code in the main window itself. Don't try anything else with that software, as it may mess up your handset's software !

Saurabh, the data cable you brought is a Serial Port data cable. Now you are connecting the serial cable to your USB port, with the help of a 'usb to serial converter', right ? I guess it must be having some conflict with the 'usb to serial converter'. I recommend you to buy a USB cable and try it. Local data cables will work fine, and I think it should be available for around Rs.350 only.
-
Are you sure its the right data cable for Nokia 2280 that you saw for Rs.350 ? I have seen the normal price for Nokia 2280 in some shops and Baazee for around Rs.650

I've got in touch with some winners of the prediction contest during India-Pakistan matches. More than a million people could have entered the contest, so the chances of winning is rare

Its 15, have experienced it a few times now. I've marked it this time, so I'll let you know whether it was billed correctly or not
-
I've experienced it too (without using the softwares). Sometimes the flash screen displays and other times, it goes to the phone book display option. Seems to be a bug. Another bug I've experienced is... at times the call duration of the call goes to 00:00:00 when I disconnect the call, even though I've talked for some time ! I hope I won't get billed for such calls

RIM storms into corporate market Fresh from taking India's mobile market by storm, Reliance Infocomm entered the corporate telecom market this month and looks set to cut prices and generate demand in a sector crucial to the growth of back-office outsourcing. After rising to the top of the mobile sector in less than a year, the country’s largest conglomerate Reliance embarked on the second leg of its telecom strategy with an unusually low-key entry into the corporate fixed-line market. "Today, the world is willing to do a lot of work here," said Prakash Bajpai, the president of Reliance Infocomm spearheading the enterprise initiative. "But if India doesn't improve its broadband infrastructure, then we will miss this revolution as well, just as we missed the industrial revolution." Infocomm wants to offer businesses leased lines for fast Internet access and virtual private networks that integrate a firm's network with its suppliers and customers. Top-notch telecom are critical both to Indian firms wanting to go global and multinationals expanding in India or shifting work here, such as back-offices and call centres. Did you know that if you forgot your lock code and want to get it reset from the nearest Service Center, they will charge you Rs.160 if the warranty of your handset had expired ! In case your warranty period is over, you can find out the lock code using uniCDMA software, yourself

One of my friend tried some stuff with Nokia, I'll ask him to post his findings in the forum soon

IMO, there aren't any disadvatages if RIM people are in the forum.

NDTV News On Reliance's R World - May 12, 2004 - Techtree.com Reliance Infocomm adds another feature to its R world by tying up with NDTV 24X7. This enables users to receive audio-video streaming of hourly news updates on their multi-media handsets from the news channel. Users can view the latest news clips, from the channel by selecting NDTV 24X7 in the ‘News’ section of the main menu of R World. However according to the sources, the bulletin in the R World may be delayed by 30 min. from the actual time of telecast. With the launch of NDTV news service, the news channels in R World amounts to three, the earlier ones being Aaj Tak and CNBC. (Incidently Aaj Tak and NDTV are tough competitors) At present, Reliance India Mobile (RIM) customers can avail all these services free of cost, as access to R World is now free. Other than news services, R World also provides its customers with the latest headlines in 8 languages.

Yeah, it will be nice if they started that feature. Thanks for clarifying it, Bobby... I've been wondering about its use too

The Telegraph , Calcutta, May 16 Reliance Infocomm is looking at emulating the success of Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo with its suite of data applications through R-World. Data applications are expected to contribute 25 per cent of the company’s revenue from mobile services within the next few years. DoCoMo has over 40 million paying subscribers for its mobile internet access system. Reliance, which is presently offering its services free of cost, has over 6 million subscribers who download one billion pages of information every month. “In Japan, of the $77 average rate per user (ARPU) for DoCoMo, data contributes $16, while in Korea the usage is $10 for an ARPU of $70,” says Mahesh Prasad, president (applications and solutions group). “Vodafone on the other hand gets $6 for data on an ARPU of $45.” Prasad, however, says that they have also closely followed the US model where data applications have failed miserably, mainly due to the high PC penetration. Reliance expects the low PC penetration in India to contribute to the success of data applications. “A number of applications will be offered through R-World,” said Prasad. “We are in the final stages of testing the reservations of railway and airline tickets through our phones.” Reliance has already linked its network to the IRCTC system and expects to commence the service in the first week of June. The telecom major has also tied up with Jet Airways and is into talks with other airlines to provide the facility. The company has lined up a cohesive strategy and plans to introduce over 100 applications and services, including games, over the next few months. “The biggest advantage lies in the ability to conduct mobile commerce transactions through R-World,” Prasad added.
