Do you need the static IP address for any specific purpose? I did not see any disconnection/reset issue till now. The indoor CPE does not have WiFi (see reply above).

It does not have WiFi. I did want to try connecting with a wireless router to see if it will work or not, maybe I will try tomorrow

WiMAX has better spectral efficiency than EVDO/HSPA so that it supports higher number of users per base station. Read Intel's analysis white paper here.

Right, the plans vary for different states. In Kerala the only plan available is: "512 kbps to 2 mbps with unlimited data usage for Rs.999 per month"

Don't go for outright purchase, get the FMC option... after all the FMC option gives you warranty throughout and you can swap device as well if needed.

Yup, both download and upload

Mukesh Ambani venturing into telecom? Press Trust of India, May 28, 2010 - New Delhi Within days of revoking a non- compete agreement that his group had with his younger brother Anil, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani is believed to have held a long-drawn-out discussion with telecom czar Sunil Mittal. The meeting took place on the day Mukesh Ambani arrived in Delhi on May 26 to attend the Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry meeting. A Reliance Industries spokesperson declined to comment either on the meeting or the discussions held, but a source said CII President Hari S Bhartia was also present. The two Ambanis on May 23 decided to scrap a non-compete agreement reached by them in January 2006. But, they decided that Mukesh will keep out of gas-based power plants till 2022. They had also announced that day that they would expeditiously negotiate a gas supply agreement in accordance with the Supreme Court order of May 7. There is speculation that Mukesh Ambani could venture into the telecom sector soon and sources indicated that he could pick up stake in one of the Indian telecom players, particularly those who acquired licences in 2008. Sources also said that Mukesh is talking to new licence holders including Videocon, which has pan-India licence and is looking for a partner to bring in capital to roll out services. Mukesh had overseen setting up of the telecom business in the undivided Reliance empire (under the brand Reliance Infocomm), but the business went to younger brother Anil Ambani when the brothers decided to part ways in June 2005. Anil has since renamed the telecom venture as Reliance Communications. -

GPRS speed only as it is GSM, not much fun browsing. -
I think one of your plugin is playing up. Try disabling all plugins first. I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 as well, haven't seen something like that before.

Message Archiving feature is not available as of now since the message storing procedure was revamped in IP.Board v 3.0. The Message Archiving feature is expected to be available in future releases but not in the upcoming IP.Board v 3.1, so hopefully it will be available in IP.Board v 3.2

It is "Google" that is making it show the email address instead of the number. Open the contact from "People", then press Menu button and click Link and then remove the link lock for Google. It should now show the number instead of email address.

Big City gamble: Reliance Communications on 3G turf Economic Times - 21 May 2010, 0512 hrs IST Reliance Communications went for the top and bottom circles in the value pyramid of service areas. The company will spend 76% of its total investment in 3G spectrum on Mumbai and Delhi. In all it has bagged 13 circles for a price of Rs 8,585 crore compared with nine of Vodafone circles for Rs 11,618 crore. Wins in Delhi and Mumbai give Reliance Communications an edge over its peers, because this may be its opportunity to catch up with Bharti and Vodafone—that lead in these mega-cities with a margin—and leave nine other operators in the circles far behind. Because it started out with services based on on CDMA technology, Reliance Communications lost out on customers that generate high revenue for service providers. The company’s brand identity is also more immediately identified with low cost rather than luxury, which may change with 3G offerings, an analyst with an MNC brokerage said. Reliance Communications is also among the worst off in terms of funding. With net debt of Rs19,889 crore, the company debt to operating earnings for the just-ended financial year is 3.3. While the company has cash of around Rs 4,858 crore, not all of it can be deployed for spectrum, the analyst said. “They will get the money, but it won’t come cheap,” said an analyst with a domestic brokerage. The company is also expected to bid aggressively for WiMax spectrum auction that will start soon, the analyst added. The company did not respond to queries on how it plans to fund the purchase. The company is raising money through commercial paper according to a television report. Reliance Communications generates around 55% of its current revenue from the 13 circles it won spectrum in. These circles, broadly equivalent to states, account for around half the revenue of the Indian telecom sector’s. Average monthly revenue per user in the circles it won was Rs 119.9 compares with Rs 95.8 for the circles it lost, according to an estimate by brokerage Edelweiss. The company’s revenue must rise 33% to make its 3G spectrum viable, but if this helps it gain market share in Mumbai and Delhi this should be possible, analysts said.
