"View New Content" is not available on the "Lo-Fi" skin as of now. Added a feature request with the developer.

If you are leaving aside the push mail factor, then Samsung CDMA will be lot better as BlackBerry browser is no good and you will get better speed on Samsung Corby Speed with EVDO, and of course the price difference.

Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
Arun replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
3G spectrum for 3 GSM players only : DOT 01/12/2010 - 12:52 TopNews.in Department of telecom (DoT) issued a draft notice inviting applications for the sale of 3G spectrum slots. DOT however informed that only three slots will be available for sale resulting in only three private GSM operators winning a chance to launch 3G mobile services. BSNL and MTNL are state players with the slot in the new airwave technology leaving only enough spectrum to accommodate only three players. The winning operators will have to pay the entire amount within 15 days of the auction while 25% to paid within 5 days. The draft Notice Inviting Application reads, "In the case of 3G auction, the Government has decided to assign by auction up to 3 blocks of 5x2 Mhz of paired in the 2.1 Ghz band in each of the 22 circles." The Spectrum will be awarded immediately however the operators will be able to use it by September 1, 2010 having made arrangements for equipments and network tests. All spectrums will not be available at the same time thus the plan to award the third spectrum later in august is being considered. However the Empowered Group of Ministers are unlikely to accept this arrangement. The communication ministry earlier planned four slot auctions as the armed forces had agreed to vacate 3G spectrum as per mutually agreed time frames however the DOT draft later said "The armed forces have failed to adhere to an MoU between the communications and defense ministries earlier this year, where they had agreed to vacate 10 MHz of airwaves prior tothe auction. " DOT will release the final version of NIA this week after its ratification by the Communication Ministry. The final date for applications is January 25 with mock auctions scheduled for February 9-10 and final auction is set to be on February 12. As for CDMA operators the draft notice for inviting applications said that the auction will be for only one player per circle while the auction is not to take place in six circles including Delhi, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab & Maharashtra. Only three existing players, Tata Teleservices, Sistema Shyam and Reliance Communications are eligible for the auction in the segment. -

That is a Google SMS service

I have seen the same message on a new Reliance GSM prepaid connection. Once the CAF was uploaded in my A/C, I was able to activate it.
-
The first character (in TM, BA, RL, etc.) refers to Service Provider code (T - TATA, B - BSNL, R - Reliance) and the second character stands for Service area code (M - Mumbai, A - Andhra Pradesh, L - Kerala). The messages are sent through Bulk SMS providers through the operator's SMSC center. So this SPAM can certainly be tracked as TRAI made it compulsory in February 2009 that the approved Sender ID should be used for sending bulk messages. These are the directives given by TRAI: http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/Directives/131/direction10dec08.pdf (contains service provider code list and service area code list) From the FAQ of a bulk SMS provider... So it clearly states that the messages should be sent only to those who have subscribed to receive it. Messages like these clearly violate them.

Asci Pulls Up Advertisements Of Reliance Communications, Idea For Misleading
Arun posted a topic in The Lounge
Business Standard December 28, 2009 11:59 IST The Advertising Standards Council of India has pulled up 15 companies, including telecom ones, for running misleading ad campaigns during July to October this year. During the said period, the Consumer Complaints Council of ASCI found 15 advertisers, including Reliance Communications and Idea Cellular, fast moving consumer goods player Dabur and Elder Pharma and coaching centre Career Launcher, violating the council's code. Reliance Communications had to suspend a television commercial as it failed to substantiate its claim 'with comparative data of other mobile services' that the company is the 'fastest mobile broadband service in India'. The company said it was making modifications in the TVC. "RCom has already responded to ASCI and is making necessary modifications in the TVC," a spokesperson from Reliance Communication said. Another mobile operator, Idea Cellular, also had to modify its commercial, which showed people walking, while talking on mobile phones, as ASCI upheld complaint from consumers that it encouraged "the unsafe act of walking while talking on the mobile phone". "Some action sequences as depicted in the TVC, shows dangerous practices and manifest a disregard for safety without justifiable reason," ASCI said. Queries sent to Idea remained answered. Dabur had to modify two of its TV commercials, which according to the CCC, were misleading. The two ads were that of Dabur Vatika shampoo, which claimed that the product 'eliminates dandruff from first wash' and that of Dabur Lal Oil which said massaging with the oil 'leads to doubly faster growth in babies'. The CCC found the claims were misleading. Coaching centre Career Launcher's campaign claiming 'four out of five IIM call-getters in CAT'08 from Delhi and NCR' were its students was suspended as it was unsubstantiated. ASCI also found Elder Pharma's campaign of showing a woman unbuttoning a shirt in an advertisement of deodorant 'Fuel' to be vulgar and it was asked to be modified. -
