Reliance doesn't allow EVDO NetConnect on mobile handsets.
-
That is normal practical speed for EVDO Rev 0. You would get better speeds with EVDO Rev A. devices like a HTC 6800. The USB data cards provided by Reliance for NetConnect Broadband+ is EVDO Rev A.

Budget? If you want a basic one, then go for: Acer AspireOne D150: http://acer-online.co.in/aspireone.php or Asus Eee PC 1002HA: http://in.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&...amp;modelmenu=1

I found ZTE AC8710 much better in Speeds. And Huawei 168c in looks. does both have HSD and 1x mode? Yes
-
PPC 6700 is not EVDO Rev A, but its EVDO Rev 0. Hence the lower speed that you are getting.

600 to 800 kbps = 75 kB/s to 100 kB/sec = 0.60 Mbps to 0.80 Mbps The maximum download speed achievable by EVDO Rev A. technically is 3.10 Mbps = 387.50 KB/s = 3100 kbps. So when you say you got only 600 to 800 kbps, thats too low. Are you sure that you got that speed only when you used it in US? If you are still confused, use this calculator: http://web.forret.com/tools/bandwidth.asp

Press Trust of India New Delhi, March 4, 2009 The Delhi Consumer Commission has directed Reliance Communications (earlier known as Reliance Infocomm) to pay Rs.10,000 as compensation for the"mental agony"of a subscriber because of the telecom major's failure to change his postpaid mobile connection to prepaid in 2005. The Commission accepted the plea of Delhi-resident G D Singhla, seeking enhancing the compensation of Rs 4,000, awarded by the District Forum for alleged deficiency in service by RCom for not converting his postpaid mobile connection into prepaid. "The agony suffered by Singhla . Persuades us to enhance the compensation amount, including (the) cost of litigation, to Rs 10,000 as (the) consumer (will) suffer further mental agony, harassment and physical discomfort if he is forced to seek remedy before any legal forum,"the Commission headed by Justice J D Kapoor said. Singhla in 2005 reached a settlement with RCom, by which his connection was to be changed from postpaid to prepaid.

Do you mean "View New Posts" link? The "View New Posts" link will show the new posts after your last visit to the forum only. For example, I visited the forum previously at around 7 PM. When I clicked the "View New Posts" link, it showed the list of new posts between 7 PM and 9:30 PM and there were 4 results. From your access log I can see that you had visited the forum earlier today.

Have you tried connecting to a different PC?
-
My Controls > Board Settings > "Auto correct DST?" "Is daylight saving time in effect?" Both settings should be "unchecked"

When you connect the device to PC, it will show new hardware detected dialog. Then it will ask you for the drivers and you can point the directory of the drivers you downloaded.

Wimax 384kbps Plan, What Is The Actual Speed
Arun replied to noblejose's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
Speed wasn't any issue when I used TATA Indicom WiMAX in Bangalore earlier, it was just the disconnections that I had a problem with. Can you try downloading a file using a download manager like FlashGet using 10 threads/connections? Try the test file: http://www.softlayer.com/downloads/test.zip Use a download meter like DU Meter to check the speed as well. With that being said, the latency of wimax connection is always a problem than a wireline connection which will result in the speed varying. -
Reliance bets Rs 600 cr on high-speed Net Mumbai, March 15, 2009 Hindustan Times Reliance Communications has invested around Rs 600 crore in establishing a hybrid network for its ‘Netconnect Broadband Plus’ product, which it claims is India’s fastest Internet service. “The company has upgraded the software in its existing CDMA network to make available high-speed Internet,” said Mahesh Prasad, president of Reliance Communications on Thursday, while launching Broadband Plus. With a downlink speed of up to 3.1 Mbps (megabits per second) and a separate uplink speed of upto 1.8 Mbps, the Broadband Plus service will be available in 35 cities from early next week. Sources close to the development said that RCOM has invested around Rs 600 crores to establish the pan-India hybrid network for its data business and has a technical tie-up with Alcatel-Lucent to roll out the network. The investment includes the cost of USB modems, the value of the bulk order of which is estimated to be around Rs 300 crore. An RCOM spokesperson declined to confirm the figure. RCOM is believed to have placed a bulk order for over one million USB modems with two global communication equipment suppliers, Huawei and ZTE. The Broadband Plus is launched in two USB modem variants, catering to laptop and home PC users separately. The card will be available at Rs 3,500 and users can choose from service plans that range from Rs 299 for pay-per-use to Rs 1,750 for unlimited usage. The company will be retailing the product in 12,000 retail outlets in the country, in addition to 2,300 RCOM outlets. Establishing a hybrid network is a part of RCOM’s strategy to drive Netconnect subscriber base in India. When a user connects to the hybrid network, the modem will first latch to high-speed data (HSD) network, if available. If HSD is not available it will automatically switch to CDMA telephony. This switching over and back would happen without disconnecting the data call.

Since it happens after some time only the issue may be some conflict with an existing service that is running in your PC. The BSOD error should show more details of the issue.

Mumbai March 10, 2009, 0:42 IST Business Standard Reliance Communications (RCom) has placed a Rs 300-crore bulk order with two Chinese equipment vendors, Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corporation, for around one million (10 lakh) plug-n-play USB modems. This is believed to be one of the single largest order for USB modems, that can be used with laptops and desktops for accessing the Internet, from the country. The Anil Ambani group company will receive the first consignment of nearly 100,000 modems, nearly 10 per cent of the total order, this week. On receipt of the modems, the company will roll these out into the market, sources close to the development told Business Standard. RCom is planning to ramp up its wireless data operations and pursue an aggressive market share acquisition strategy, and these modems will also help the company establish its presence in the data market. The company is pushing its Netconnect service (wireless data card) across both urban and rural areas in the country. Going forward, RCom expects its data business to contribute nearly 15-20 per cent of its overall revenues, they said. The order with Huawei is for USB modems weighing not more than 50 gms and with a Micro Secure Digital Memory card, while the one with ZTE is for modems weighing around 40 gms. Technical specifications for both the companies are much similar. When contacted RCom spokesperson declined to comment on the development. Definitely for the EVDO service!

Gsm Operators Add 9.3 Mn Users In Feb

Yes, that is not EVDO, its just CDMA 1x. For voice calls over EVDO, the operator needs a 3G license.
-
I'm not sure what you meant but voice calls and SMS will not work with the EVDO service irrespective of the OS that you are using.
-
High-Speed Downlink Packet Access. 3G Technology for GSM.
-
It may work on Mac as it is mentioned there, but calls and SMS would not be possible for now as it requires a "3G license" for Reliance which is no where in sight now. Moreover Reliance seems to be preferring the GSM route for 3G and it is not sure whether they would be interested in a 3G license at all for CDMA especially since they are able to offer EVDO with their "ISP license" already.
