  1. Unable To Send Sms To Mytodaysms

Vodafone blocks Netcore's free SMS Business Standard Mumbai February 17, 2009, 0:37 IST GSM service provider Vodafone-Essar has blocked entrepreneur Rajesh Jain-promoted Netcore Solutions’ free SMS alert service, alleging the service does not comply with the telecom regulations. This is the second instance of the services being blocked — earlier by Bharti Airtel in November 2008. Netcore offers the service 'MyToday' to 3.8 million mobile phone users in the country. Jain was the founder of IndiaWorld Communications, a small start-up, which was acquired in 1999 by IT major Sify Technologies for around Rs 500 crore. Vodafone-Essar has blocked the services since morning today, for which the company has not quoted any reasons. We were informed of the 'block’ by our value-added service provider Smart Wireless, while some customers also complained of not receiving the service, a top official of Netcore Solutions told Business Standard today. The GSM operator has blocked the short-code ‘575758’ to which users had to sent-in their ‘opt-in request’. Netcore, through its service provider Smart Wireless, is in talks with Vodafone-Essar to resolve the crisis, they added. A couple of Vodafone-Essar subscribers also confirmed the development and said that the services could not be accessed on Monday. When contacted Netcore officials confirmed the development, but declined to provide details. Vodafone Essar declined to comment on the issue. Vodafone-Essar is believed to have blocked the services, alleging these do not comply with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (Trai) National Do Not Call (NDNC) regulations. TRAI had rolled out NDNC to curb unsolicited commercial communications (UCC), including unsolicited SMSes and pesky calls, and had even set up a registry. This is the second instance of the services being blocked as in November, leading GSM operator Bharti Airtel has blocked the service. However, the services were later restored. Earlier, in an earlier interview with Business Standard, Rajesh Jain had stated that the services were "opt-in" and not unsolicited. This means that a mobile phone user has to subscribe to the service by sending an SMS. According to Trai’s recent ‘Recommendations on Growth of Value Added Services and Regulatory Issues’, telecom access service provider cannot block mobile portals of consumers who have subscribed to GPRS or WAP services. TRAI has recommended that there cannot be “selective blocking of mobile portals or short codes”.

  3. Business Standard Mumbai February 16, 2009, 0:27 IST Reliance Communications (RCom), the telecommunications arm of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), has placed orders for an additional 25 million GSM SIM cards with Korean vendors, with delivery expected to commence by the second week of next month. The additional orders will increase the company’s total order size for the first six months of this year to around 40 million. The order has been placed with three Korean vendors who held discussions with the company on February 14 evening, sources close to the development said. The names of the vendors could not be ascertained. This is in addition to an earlier order placed for 15 million SIM cards, out of which 10 million have already been shipped. RCom will begin selling these cards within five-seven days of its landing, they said. When contacted, an RCom spokesperson said, “The tremendous response to our recent successful launch of nationwide GSM services makes us confident of achieving higher benchmarks, for which we have started gearing up on multiple fronts". The company was selling GSM connections at Rs 49 with lifetime validity. RCom has added around 5 million new subscribers in January 2009, with a majority of the additions coming from its newly-launched GSM services. The Anil Ambani-led telecom company, which has operations across the country, has 66.3 million subscribers, making it the second leading operator in the country after Bharti Airtel.

The rules haven't been formulated yet for pinning topics. Few "trusted seller" topics have been pinned for now. Obviously the number of topics should decrease and we will post an announcement in the Buy/Sell forum once the rules are formulated.
  7. Exactly, see: http://www.andybrain.com/extras/cellphone-...ew-and-test.htm

  9. Economic Times 13 Feb 2009, 1417 hrs IST Reliance Communicationsty (RCOM) has entered into an agreement with US-based Ditech Networks to deploy the latter's voice enhancement solution on its recently unveiled GSM network. The deal is estimated to be worth Rs 50 crore. The company said 'this deployment is expected to enhance voice clarity on Reliance Mobile by approximately 30 per cent'. "The agreement value between RCOM and Ditech Networks is in the region of Rs 50 crore. RCOM is undertaking Ditech trial runs on its network starting February 12, 2009. RCOM will initially deploy Ditech's voice enhancement solutions across Top 10 towns and then extend coverage across other locations," the company said. Ditech Networks is a global telecommunications equipment supplier for communications networks. Ditech Networks' voice processing products serve the needs of mobile and wireline operators for circuit- and packet-based networks. RCOM has also unveiled a series of network enhancement initiatives for urban areas. These include plans to increase its Base Tower Stations (BTS) from current 25,000 stations to over 36,000 stations. The deployment of 11,000 additional BTS is expected to be completed by the end of current fiscal, the company said. The company is also planning to triple its IBS (In-Building Solutions) from current 800 stations to over 3,000 stations and this is expected to be completed by end of first quarter of next fiscal, it added. As for rural India, the telco plans to enhance its network by deploying high gain antennas, which are specialized equipment which helps optimize network in remote areas without requiring to set-up mobile towers. "These High Gain Antennas will help enhance network coverage in remote areas by optimizing coverage footprint of existing tower infrastructure by over 20%. Since revenue contribution of such remote areas is limited and may not necessarily justify setting up mobile towers in these locations, high gain antennas help in optimizing existing network to enhance its overall footprint," the company added.
  10. Those little stickers, etc. available in the market that claims to increase signal strength are all crap. Start complaining to Customer Care, Nodal Officer, Appellate Authority, etc. now itself and hopefully they will add more towers near your place. Since Reliance GSM is in expansion mode now you can expect them to add more towers in the future any way. See: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=17873

Are you accessing the home page (www.rimweb.in)? There is a problem with the custom login form in the home page. Since we couldn't fix it till now, the login in the home page would be removed.
  16. The situation was similar here (Kerala) when it launched, but the "route is busy" messages and "connection drops" have gone by now. Since it was launched in Delhi only 10 days ago, it may take a few more days before the issues are ironed out.
  17. Netconnect Awsome Speed

What speed are you getting now? Mention kb/sec or kB/sec also
  18. weird that they called the first plan as "Unlimited 1099" when there is a limit of 20 GB per month Anyway 20 GB per month is more than enough considering NetConnect's practical speed
  19. @mehulbpandya: For using NetConnect, remove the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" option. Note: In future, please compress images to .gif or .jpb or .png before attaching to your posts.

  23. Sony Dav-dz120k Home Theater System

Yes, you will have to change the audio device in your PC through the Sound option in Control Panel. Karaoke function allows you to sing through the mic when the player plays the music alone.
  24. Sony Dav-dz120k Home Theater System

As mentioned in the previous reply, do you see a similar slot in the HT? It will look identical since you can insert any end of the digital optical cable.
