Reliance Communications was denied startup spectrum for GSM in the 6 states where Reliance Telecom operates Smart GSM service. So I'm not sure if the merger is going to happen any time soon.

Arun replied to Sadikk's topic in The Lounge
I have purchased several items from Sadik before including handsets, hard disk, etc. all were delivered fine and its been always good to deal with him. He has good tie ups with some courier service in Mumbai that he can send even such costly electronic items across to anywhere in India. I hope to have more deals with him in future as well! Note: Try PMing/Emailing each of your previous customer with a link to this topic. -
Change of circle is possible for now at Rs.200 but no option yet for changing number/MDN.

Reliance Communications Launches Prepaid Blackberry Services In India
Arun posted a topic in BlackBerry
Mumbai - September 15, 2008, 4:57 IST Business Standard Notwithstanding the controversy surrounding BlackBerry, hailed for its push mail services, Reliance Communications (RCom) is close to launching pre-paid BlackBerry services in the country. Meanwhile, the another private CDMA service provider, Tata Teleservices (TTSL), is gearing up to launch the services by the end of the year. "RCom has already tested the viability of launching pre-paid BlackBerry services on its network on all the six models available in the country," sources close to the development told Business Standard. At present, BlackBerry services are only available in the post-paid mode, and with the proposed launch, pre-paid services will help subscribers keep the usage under check. When contacted, a Reliance Communications spokesperson confirmed the move, but declined to provide the date of the launch. At present, four service providers—Bharati Airtel, Vodafone-Essar, BPL Mobile and RCom—provide BlackBerry services in the country. BPL Mobile has recently launched 'BlackBerry Connect', a service that provides BlackBerry services without the need of a BlackBerry handset, in the country. BlackBerry is a product of Canadian firm Research In Motion (RIM) and offers a patented service that provides wireless e-mails over mobile phones. The e-mails are pushed on to the handsets the moment they are received at the server, eliminating the need to connect to the web. -
Yes, you can once Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is introduced. When will it be introduced? Well, too early to tell for now.

Any new network showing in your mobile?
Arun replied to Arun's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
yeah right, it looks like Aircel got spectrum to start in Kerala too, so it might be Aircel as well. -
Any new network showing in your mobile?
Arun replied to Arun's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
It is probably TATA Indicom GSM since we are getting IND 809 (which looks similar in numbering) and Aircel has no plans to start in Kerala for now. -
Reliance Launches Customer Experience Programme For Gsm
Arun replied to Arun's topic in Miscellaneous
obviously it is a beta launch. It will take few months before it is launched and expanded across all states, VAS launched, more plans launched and issues sorted out. The free talk time given for now is like an "incentive" given to the customer. -
As per RCom website, promo TT is Rs.5/day for southern States and Rs.10/day for other States. Talk about discrimination........... Yeah, it wasn't reduced but different free talktimes for different states

Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
Arun replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
India’s 3G auction looks shambolic Thu, Jan 8 2009. 9:51 PM IST Live Mint Red tape and bureaucracy may be accepted as part and parcel of doing business in India, but the handling of India’s much-heralded third generation, or 3G, auction looks particularly shambolic. Delays, confusion over eligibility and an 11th hour proposal to double the reserve price are marring the effort to sell 3G technology licences in the world’s fastest growing mobile market. India is already slow in getting to 3G. The dominant operators—Bharti Airtel Ltd, Reliance Communications Ltd, Vodafone Essar Ltd and Idea Cellular Ltd—are anxious to get started. The government isn’t making it easy. The rights auction has already been delayed by two weeks, and a spat over the reserve price for each national licence threatens to make the wait even longer. The government claims it is confident that the auction will add as much as $8 billion (Rs38,880 crore) to its deficit-challenged coffers. But the finance ministry wants to double the minimum reserve for each licence to guarantee it gets a good sum. Politicians are anxious to repeat the early 2008 underpricing of 2G licences. Since then, local start-ups Unitech Wireless Ltd and Swan Telecom Pvt. Ltd have sold stakes in their companies to foreign players for up to six times the original amount at which the licences were won. Upping the reserve price may be sensible, but should have been suggested months ago. India’s government is now struggling to win approval for the change. Bidders expect the auction could easily be delayed again until mid-February—and privately describe the process as incompetent. If the auction isn’t held within the next two months, it’s unlikely to happen until well after the country’s national elections expected in April. Fortunately for the government, India’s existing mobile operators are expected to bid regardless of auction delays. But the disarray is enough to deter the new foreign entrants the government hoped to attract. Selling 3G licences in India should have been easy, but this shambolic debacle simply reinforces the country’s reputation as a painfully hard place to do business. -
Yeah, probably in February. Beta 1 as of now.

Bought the SIM or word of mouth? It was launched officially in Kerala yesterday. See: http://www.manoramaonline.com/cgi-bin/MMOn...2&BV_ID=@@@ CEP SIM stock is yet to arrive it seems to all places. -
I believe he is talking about Smart Reliance GSM service which was already available in 6 circles including Madhya Pradesh that he mentioned.
-
Not sure about that model, try going for a Class 10 EDGE support one
