  1. Just for clarification, it isn't exactly 100% cash-back that you would get but upto 100% (from 1%) which will be randomly decided by an automated system.

  3. Reliance plans to start 4G rollout from Navi Mumbai The Hindu Business Line - February 1, 2013 Reliance Industries is gearing up to launch its fourth generation telecom services from Navi Mumbai, with the company seeking permissions to install towers across the satellite city. Senior Reliance Industries executives have already met officials of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation seeking permission for the towers. The company intends to start rolling out the services from Vashi, near Mumbai, according to sources close to the development. A senior official of the NMMC said the company proposes to install high-mast towers, which will serve the dual purpose of a base station for the cellular network and provide street lighting. In the first phase, 126 such towers would be installed. “These towers would be installed according to the company’s requirement. If a site has an existing NMMC street pole, then that pole would be removed and a new high-mast tower would be installed,” the official said. High-mast towers are usually installed in areas such as factories, airports and large public areas, which require bigger areas to be illuminated. Such towers are about 100 ft tall, while the regular municipal pole is about 30 feet high. Incidentally, Reliance Industries (RIL) has its corporate office in Navi Mumbai. The company, controlled by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, is slated to launch 4G operations this year through its subsidiary Infotel Broadband Services. An RIL spokesman, when contacted, declined to comment. Infotel Broadband plans to set up towers (fabricated structures made mainly of steel) that would support its 4G equipment (base transceiver stations). RIL is in talks with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai for setting up about 8,000 4G towers.

  13. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

The Sell Bazaar forum in now re-opened while the revised guidelines are being formulated. As a first step, the minimum number of posts required to open a new Sell topic has been bumped to 25 posts in addition to a wait period of 1 month after registration for opening a new Sell topic. The guidelines page has been updated to reflect this updated guideline. The remaining guidelines will be added for the Sell Bazaar forum soon to increase buyer protection. eBay listing for new sellers is being implemented on a trial basis for now.
  14. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

<< Unnecessary immature posts removed >> What I expect in this topic are suggestions from members; and not childish personal fights which you can do elsewhere, not in the topic please.

  16. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

2%? Which payment gateway offers that? A good payment gateway like CCavenue charges 7%+tax for Credit Cards and 4%+tax for Net Banking in addition to annual maintenance fee of Rs.1200. Even if the charges are fine, the payments would come to my bank account and then I have to transfer to the seller which means IT hassles for those transactions.
  17. EVDO Speed Is Too Slow As Like 1X

What else can they mean by that?
  18. You can just enter the details in the NAM tab (see screenshot in the first tab), along with your actual MIN and Dir_Number (MDN)
  19. EVDO Speed Is Too Slow As Like 1X

Did they really say practical speed of 200 - 300 kbps? From which email address did they reply that?
  20. Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestions

Looks like it is disabled for ALL. It was closed after the scam came into light in the other topic. It is mentioned in the guidelines page.Revision of the guidelines should to be done to make it fool-proof rather than just an amendment. Escrow seems to be the only fool-proof option to avoid an Abhishek Pujar (will be hereafter referred as AP) because: * post count limit can still be surpassed by an AP unless if it is a high number. However if it is a high number (some suggested 100, 200, etc. in the other topic) then a genuine member with lesser number of posts who have a good deal to offer will be missed. AP had posted at-least 25+ posts over a long period of time to reach the 10 approved post limit as the rest of the posts were unapproved when his posting trend appeared to suggest that he might be trying to increase post count to open a Sale topic. AP did not get discouraged by that and kept his patience; 99% of those who do that won't have the patience usually. Anyway a limit of 25 does sound "optimal" * waiting period can be proved ineffective as AP's account was almost an year old. * Feedback for a few transactions can also be ineffective as I see that AP did sell some handsets initially to some members as per the replies in the topic. AP's case is indeed a "rarest of the rare" case, so the above changes will surely work for 99% of the transactions (and so it will be amended), but didn't we start the discussion about revising the guidelines to totally avoid a case like AP? I was looking to force at-least the new sellers to use eBay for the transactions. I thought it would cost the seller around 5% (i.e. 1% for CDMA phones listing + 4.5% for PaisaPay) only which can be recovered by the buyer using coupons. I see that someone has mentioned few posts above that is exactly 6.325% which I still think is not bad when you can get 5% or above coupons from various offers, right? Handling money between 2 parties is something that needs to be done professionally and an individual cannot ALWAYS be depended to do that; as an individual will have their own other priorities, family, work, etc. God forbid if something happens to the individual then I would end up getting the flak from the seller/buyer and I would have no options whatsoever to resolve the issue as it wasn't a professional agreement with a company. If there is a professional company that does a third party escrow service then it would be worth taking a look. Asking for scan of ID card/address proof is a good idea, but I don't think one can ask and keep another person's ID proof without having permission to do that from the authorities? Other than the eBay (or any other) escrow arrangement and the proposed changes mentioned by RM in the first post, I am also looking at implementing a form based submission system for the Sell forum (at-least for new members) so that the details mentioned in the Sell topics will have more clarity and proper information with pictures that shows fine details of the item. Some members continue to copy-paste the format from other's topic and wouldn't even care to make necessary changes in the item details. The form submission will be verified by a moderator and if the content submitted is acceptable (if not then the member would be informed to make changed or update) then the member can post the topic. Yes, it would take time for the seller's topic to appear (as it need to be verified first) and more work for the moderator (hope the moderators & would-be moderators won't run away now ), but I would prefer quality than quantity in the Sell topics.
  21. GPS Issues

I have seen HTC handsets taking more time to lock a location when compared to Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 which locks very fast for me even indoors.
  22. Got the Panasonic TH-P50GT50D (50 inch) Plasma TV yesterday. It is the 2012 edition under the "Smart Viera" branding. I am upgrading from a Samsung 32" LCD TV which is over a couple of years old. I opted for Plasma since it has better color saturation when I compared different TVs in showrooms. GT30 was a great buy for 2011 as per many reviews, so I went for the GT50 as soon as it was launched in India as the reviews in other countries like US had only good things to say about it. Panasonic launched the 2012 models this month (14th) and stock is now available with dealers. The MRP mentioned in the sticker is Rs.1,38,900 and I got it for Rs.1,15,000 with 1 extra free 3D glass (2 * 3D glasses are included - so total 3). The dealer also gave me a Casio keyboard as a free gift. Model number for the included free glass is TY-EW3D4MA and the additional free glass is model number is TY-EW3D2MA. TY-EW3D4MA is cell battery operated while the TY-EW3D2MA is rechargeable using the USB cable. The remote control looks nice and feels good: The base stand was easy to setup with instructions clearly mentioned in the manual HDMI and USB ports are on the side: VGA port and Composite Video ports are a bit awkwardly placed: Composite cable has to be connected using a connector cable which is included: Overall the design looks good The picture quality for high definition content was excellent and I have checked using AirTel Digital TV HD STB, PS3, Xbox and PC. Standard Definition channels were (obviously) not-so-good, just what you would expect anyway 3D was great and I have tried a couple of stereoscopic 3D games (Uncharted 3 on PS3 & Batman Arkham City on Xbox) which looked very good. I also tried a Blu-ray 3D movie (Transformers: Dark of the moon) which was fantastic to see on 3D. Unfortunately there is no way to take any pics of the 3D in action to post here. I haven't noticed any burn-in yet though I will be doing the initial break-in procedure for about 100 hours. Dealers may say that new Plasma TVs don't require it but to be safe it is better to do it. The out-of-the-box settings were fine though it needs to be tweaked according to the content you are watching. The THX Cinema mode is excellent for watching movies. I have to do further picture setting tweaks after the break-in period. "Viera Connect" (internet based feature) is amazing and I spent more time checking them out than tweaking the picture quality settings. When you start the internet mode (I had also selected WiFi network during the initial setup) it would check for the latest firmware version (for Viera Connect) and there is a new version already: It took about 20 minutes on my 4 mbps connection: That would take you to the Internet menu with apps: Few apps are installed by default including the Panasonic Viera social networking app where you can add Twitter and Facebook accounts. This app allows you to watch the TV program alongside the Twitter/Facebook content: YouTube works well and you can login to your YouTube account as well: YouTube video being played that I had uploaded earlier: continued in next post...
  23. The quality of SD content on Panasonic GT50 and the old Samsung 32" were about the same. Not good enough as the noise in the resolution makes it look bad. I use the pillar box feature in the STB to make the picture look a bit better even though the size would be smaller.
