Which links do you want RIM-MAN ?
-
Hey bought a GTRAN few days ago and boy am I happy with it ! Well let me tell u all that I had done a lot of R&D before making this purchase. If you want to go in for a colour handset without Camera, GTRAN 4020 is simply the best and it provides highest value for money (btw value = benifit/cost ) It has the best LCD display (in all Reliance CDMA sets) with rich 65000 colours. Believe me, the images downloaded from R WORLD / Computer, make the phone look like as if its a laptop ! Ringtones, still & animated images can be downloaded from your computer using the data cable provided free with the phone. The phone comes with 2 batteries and i think it really does need 2 batteries. As far as the charging issue goes, the new phone needs to be charged 12 hrs for the first 2 nights and thereon for 3-3.5 hours daily. It really does take a long time to get charged. The battery life is ok. If you use normally it lasts for 2 days. But if ur a R WORLD (surfing, games, images, mms) freak like me, then it lasts max for a day. So thats one negative aspect about the phone. Well its the only phone by reliance which can be customised for ringtones and images & phonebook using a cable. You cant do the same with a LG or samsung colour handset. So full points to GTRAN for that. Memory: It has a very decent memory capacity : 1.5 mb -> Its more than enough for loads of polyphonic ringtones, images and stuff. The phone book has 300 x 5 capacity which is ok. Voice MEMO (Voice recorder, max 5 recordings of 2 minutes each) : gr8 feature ! i recorded some mp3s while they were playing on my sony music system and set those songs as ringtones ! MY PHONE DONT RING, IT SINGS ! . You can also record the voice conversations you had with others using this feature. Good one to go.... R WORLD experience is nice with icons in colour, colour surfing, etc. Ringtone volume is high, much better than other polyphonic phones like Nokia 6610 that i had b4. This phone has a 16 chord polyphony unlike nokia 6610 (GSM) which has only 4 channels. Since the day i bought this GTRAN phone i have been downloading sexy MIDI songs from the net and using them as my ringtones. The handsfree that comes with the set is very complicatedly built and is quite inconvenient to use. I dont prefer using it. Camera : supports 100 k pixels only. To be avoided and not bought by any chance. If you desperately want a CAM phone go for the LG or SAMSUMG ones. Otherwise GTRAN is the best. Cost: 12k without Cam and 14K with cam. Much much cheaper than the LG & samsung counterparts. However, i have noticed that when i listen to ringtones in 'my menu' of the phone, at times the phone reboots. That maybe coz i have downloaded very heavy ringtones of more than 100-150 kb size. On deleting such tones, it doesnt hang while listening to ringtones. A thumbs down though one doesnt need such heavy midi files. 50-70 kb midi files are full length rich sounding songs which are good enough to be set as ringtones. Overall its a gr8 phone except for the battery issue. I think after few months when i stop abusing my phone usage too much (i freak around with the phone all day on R WORLD web surfing, photos, tones etc - very heavy usage), the phone's battery life will be sufficiently ok. Guys i love this phone and i would love to hear other owner comments about it. I feel a bit disappointed though with the games it has. Also games (JAVA) cant be downloaded through computer. RWORLD games are the only option. Hope the review is useful Bye and take care all !

Tanveer i am not sure about BITPIM coz am stuck with my older comp which has no USB port. Had a faster PIII comp as well but its processor blew up last week and its outta warranty. So right now am on my old PII system which has no USB port in the mobo. But i had tried using UNICDMA with my PIII some time ago. It doesnt detect GTRAN. Someone will have to explore the phone with a BITPIM and help us all out.

lol ashok, Its mastermind who wants to buy it not me Am just helping him. I am not sure if he's checked with *333 but if he wants to buy it he must have already
-
Ashop i had actually informed mastermind the same price of 375 after verifying from the same web url (rim website) as you have mentioned. But some Webworld guy quoting him ridiculously high price of 855 for the handsfree. I asked him to check with some other RWW in his city

Try re-installing GTRAN pc sync and see if then the transfer works. If it doesnt i think ther's some issue with you OS. Coz phone book transfer works gr8 for me. The last resort would be re-installing your OS (Do it only if ur damn despo to get the transfer done)

Hi ajit, Here are the details ofmy phone: s/w version - CN07RL0724 (BTW thats a wierd version, lol) PRL ID:0 This is how you check your sofware version - Menu-> Settings->Phone/system->version PS: Trying finding newer version for GTRAN if possible
-
lol@tanveer Well Ajit, as tanveer pointed out, get some loud sounding midi and set it as the ringtone. You can also increase the volume of any midi file using a software called PSM player. You can get it by searching on google, If you dont let me know I'll give you the link. As far as the battery goes, i had encountered this on the first day of buying the phone itself and have also mentioned in my posts. But i think its still better than LG 2030 battery life which is even worse than GTRAN battery. Pal i dont think the network of GTRAN is that bad though... My personal experience says that infact its quite good. Even i work in a cubicle of a completely closed a/c office on first floor. But the network has never been less than 4-5 bars and very rarely have i had a lost call. What do other GTRAN owners have to say ? How have your network experience with this phone been ? Just check out if its a problem with your particular handset Ajit. If it is, then you should contact the WEBWORLD guys. I request other GTRAN owners to post their experiences about the network quality so that we can help Ajit with this....

Hey Umeshd, i would like to point out a few things to you. Firstly, This is not a GTRAN sponsored forum where members are persuading others to shift to GTRAN immediately. Secondly this forum has been started to share, discuss and help each other. We arent getting any sort of commission from GTRAN for which we have to push ppl like you into buying a GTRAN. So please think before you shoot something like - "before someone cribs I should take a demo .................. " Yes if you require help, mods and others will be more than ready to help you. But there has to be a nicer way of requesting help than this. I hope you understand......

Hey Ajit Congrats man ! Well thats quite nice to know that my reviews helped you decide to purchase this phone Infact the day after i posted my review on the phone as a member (My first day at RIMWEB) , I was promoted as a Moderator for the GTRAN forum. .. lol

Hey Saurav, firstly congrats on buying this rocking phone ! Pal that tone downloading error is happening on all GTRANs. I tried it on mine to get the same message. Actually its a WML coding error on RWORLD and not the phone's fault. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Btw why are you trying to download tones using RWORLD. GTRAN phone boasts of ringtone customization through data cable. You can download midi songs from the internet (Web links for midi files have been posted in the GTRAN forum) and transfer them to your phone. They are full length tones of your choice and much better than those pathetic tones you get on RWORLD So go ahead and explore you phone

Hey gtran owners, good news ! In games section of RWORD, 2 new games have been added for GTRAN ! ROB S CAPE and RAMSON QUEST I tried them both and they are excellent games. Rob S cape is a car game in which you are a thug and you have to escape from cops chasing you while Ramson quest is an arcade game like MARIO One of my very few issues with this phone was lack of good games... which is no longer an issue !!! GTRAN is going to be even more fun from now onwards !

This is really strange. Well have you confirmed the price with any other web world in your city ? Do that its possible that this guy's a fool

Tanveer, I was facing this prob as well and i searched some mobile phone markets. Finally I found a leather cover for LG reliance Colour handset which fits decent on GTRAN. So you can try that if you want. But the problem is that the external sub-Lcd position is different for LG than GTRAN and hence the LG cover has a transparent plastic near the top for viewing sub LCD whereas that of GTRAN is in the centre. But the phone fits well in the cover. Just ask any mobile shop owner having reliance accessories to show you the LG colour handset leather cover.

Hey AJIT, welcome aboard pal ! Hearty congrats on becoming a proud GTRAN GCP 4020 Owner Keep Posting your views, comments, questions and answers as well on this sub forum. For now, have fun with ur phone and keep playing with it till your eyes drop dead with sleep

Guys it seemed as a good idea initially.... And infact it is one. But I think those of you who have used desktop charger with LG 2030, please try to remember the fate of the battery when a desktop charger is used. The battery gets completely scratched and the battery coat gets removed making it look old and ugly. Guys I tried this with my new GTRAN silver coated battery and in two days of use I can see light scratches in the area of the battery which slides in the desktop charger. If i continue for long it will completely get scratched and the silver coat will peel off. The only option then would be to replace it with a new battery if you are looks concious about your fone. So I think its better to use the travel charger for now. Its better to do than to have a scratched , old looking battery on your new slim, sexy GTRAN , aint it ?

Actually i agree with Karpar as well. Even i like this feature coz the msg alert volume of reliance phones is quite low. But for you Tanveer I tried working on it and the only solution i see is that you can open and close the flip immediately. Thats the only solution for now

Dude there arent any animated BMPS or jpegs. The only format that's animated is GIF which GTRAN doesnt support However the animation support is through the PC SYNC s/w for gtran. Am giving you the detailed instructions for downloading animation 1) Run GTRAN PC SYNC s/w 2) Login with the username 3) Click on the IMG button on the toolbar 4) Go to the drop downdown box which reads "Still Image" and select "Animation" in it. 5) There is an explorer box on the bottom left of the screen which shows "My computer", "Desktop" etc 6) Choose the folder which contains the images. As soon as you choose the folder, All the images in that folder will be shown in thumbnail format below that box. 7) select the image that you want and click on Add button 8) Click on another image that you want to be a part of the animation and click the Add button again 9) Repeat steps 7 and 8 till your done with all images. 10) Max no. of images is 10 and when animation frame is formed by following above steps, you are able to see the image by clicking on individual image and download by clicking on "Download" button

This is the auto response from GTRAN website Sad state of affairs at the official site - The communication interface bounces queries from customers
-
As of now, the WORD feature of GTRAN is non-customisable tanveer. Infact your post drew my attention towards this problem. I tweaked with my phone for long but couldnt find any way out. So I visited GTRAN's korean website and logged in the query in the Q/A section. Will post the reply as soon as I get one from them

Mastermind, the LG 7130 handsfree is officially available for 375 bucks at any reliance web world, Hope this helps
-
Hi all Well it is possible to use this handset with other networks by clonning the handset onto other networks. Nobody has tried clonning with GTRAN but am sure most phones can be clonned with proper software. However, due to the illegal nature of this subject, all such queries are discouraged on RIMWEB and no Posts, PMs or Emails on the subject will be entertained. As far as conversion to GSM goes, I dont think thats possible. CDMA network is completely different from GSM and Its not possible to port a CDMA phone onto a GSM network in anyway (Atleast for now)

lol@Austin Well yes I do have a craze about cell phones I think your a cell phone lover as well .... BTW your welcome pal.... Hey have you voted on the GTRAN ownership poll ? If not then go ahead and add your count !
