My Experience with Reliance RConnect
-------------------------------------------------
Summary:
Speed is good at my place but at other places it goes down.
Too much lag in data packets.
No unbilled usage information available for reliance r-connect users.
No unlimited time plan for reliance r-connect users.
Bad customer care.
------------------------------------------
Reliance RConnect provides wireless internet through 2 methods
1) Reliance data cable: Phone + usb cable connected to computer
2) RConnect data card: PCMCIA card connected to computer.
I am a member of Reliance RConnect for the past 3-4 months.
I have suscribed to their 400/- scheme where you get 20 hrs during peak time and 20 hrs during off peak time for Rs 400 monthly committment.
I have opted for reliance r-connect.
Reliance phone internet (RConnect ) users have no way of knowing their unbilled internet usage. Neither the website nor the customer care would provide this information. Isn't a consumer entitled to know his unbilled usage?
If you opt for rconnect, you are restricted to time based plans. The unlimited time plans are available only for RConnect data cards. There's absolutely no rationale behind this. These data cards provide the same functionality as a phone with a data cable but they are excessively priced (Rs. 6500). I think Reliance wants to force consumers into buying the cards.
The speed is good. I can get about max 100-130 Kbps download speed and similiar upload speeds.Sometimes the speeds drop down to 40-50 kbps, but thats not very frequent. But the lag is too high. ping round trip times are about 1-2 seconds. This can be very bad if you are having voip conversations.
I measured the speeds using this

Reliance customer care is very bad. Every time I have to wait for minimum 10-15 mins before my call is received.
Equipment:
Nokia 2112 and CA-42 cable.
