Updated : Blackberry Blackout By Indian Govt? Tata Tele's Application Rejected !
Nirvana replied to Honest's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
BlackBerry adds 50,000 users despite controversy Business Standard / Mumbai May 05, 2008 Though the controversy over the security of BlackBerry services is yet to be resolved, the four operators that offer these services — Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar, BPL Mobile and Reliance Communications — have added over 50,000 customers in the four months since the problems began. Before this, the push-mail service, which was introduced in India in October 2004, had 400,000 subscribers according to industry estimates. There are over 4 million BlackBerry subscribers worldwide. Research In Motion (RIM), the Canadian communications major and owner of the BlackBerry technology, does not, however, provide country-wise subscriber numbers. The government had sent a notice late last year directing BlackBerry service providers to stop services by December 31 citing security concerns. The department of telecom had said it could not monitor BlackBerry content as RIM's servers were located in Canada and other sites outside India. In March, the telecom ministry gave operators an extension and assured them that this value-added service would not be banned, but was subject to RIM complying with the government's security requirements. RIM has since agreed to work with the government to enhance security aspects of the service. "RIM operates in more than 130 countries around the world and respects the regulatory requirements of governments. RIM does not comment on confidential regulatory matters or speculation on such matters in any given country," a spokesperson said. Meanwhile, other operators like state-owned BSNL and Datacom (a subsidiary of consumer goods major Videocon Industries) are also planning to launch BlackBerry services. BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Kuldeep Goyal said that the telecom major is in talks with BlackBerry to offer the services to the BSNL subscribers. Videocon CMD Venugopal Dhoot confirmed that BlackBerry services would be one of the value-added services that would be launched when the company begins GSM mobile operations in the country. For this, the company was recently given a licence and allotted spectrum, radio frequencies that enable wireless communications. While Idea Cellular officials declined to comment, other operators like Spice and Aircel and new entrants like Unitech were also believed to be looking at launching the services. Hyderabad-based Frontline Technologies, an Airtel partner, has launched a website to sell BlackBerry accessories. BlackBerry initially launched services in India under an exclusive tie-up with Bharti Airtel, which ended in February 2006 after which other operators began offering the service. -

Reliance's answer to AirTel's new STD offer is the Rs.440 / Rs.496 Unlimted STD offer. I don't think Reliance is going to lower the current STD rates for normal plan. -

Have you checked the bill/invoice or the box which came with the handset when you bought it? The ESN should normally be written in the bill/invoice or on the box. It can be either six digits (Hex ESN) or 10 digits.

One way to is apply for a policy like Money Plus from LIC. Depending upon the premium that you pay per year, your tax will be reduced.

In this topic, all the posts that you have made are asking for someone to sell you a PPC 6800 and nothing else that helps to modify the PPC. Why don't you procure a PPC 6800 and design it yourself to make it look like a new generation 6700 instead of asking someone else to spoon-feed you? Be happy with what you get for free, else try to do something on your own instead of sitting and cribbing about what others are sharing.

know the cost please?

or convert it to RUIM based just like how ravjeet did it on Utstarcom 6800 (the same steps may not work for this handset though)

Try creating a Dial Up Networking dialer manually and use that instead of the Reliance Dialer. -
Reliance Communications To Compensate For Fake Telephone Bills

well, the consumer court cares for the consumer, so the consumer got atleast some respite in this case. To punish the companies, the DoT/TRAI should act. -
Reliance Say Total Network , But We Say Poor Network
Nirvana replied to nkmenon55's topic in Reliance Communications
You will probably waste your time trying to file a lawsuit. When you subscribe to the service, there is a long agreement or terms of service which many may not actually care to read. Such agreements or ToS usually protects such companies from being legally sued for such lapse in services. -

For GSM operators, they are allocated with frequency bands 890-902.5 MHz paired with 935-947.5 MHz and 902.5-915 MHz paired with 947.5-960 MHz. This makes it a total of 25+25 MHz. For CDMA, the frequency band earmarked is 824-844 MHz/869-889 MHz. A total band of 20+20 MHz -
Can Sprint, Verizon Or Alltel Unlocked Mobile Be Used With Reliance R-uim
Nirvana replied to drarun's topic in Other handsets
None of them is going to work directly with Reliance because Reliance doesn't get activated on other handsets (not provided by them). You can try programming them to make it work with Reliance, though it is considered illegal. -
But what about BSNL's CDMA network availability? I don't think it comes anywhere near Reliance's network coverage. I have seen the network coverage of BSNL CDMA on mobile when travelling by train, but it was no good. So you won't be able to use when you are moving with your laptop, unless BSNL extends CDMA network coverage.

Can Imported Cdma Sets Be Unlocked To Be Used For Reliance Connection
Nirvana replied to doodh's topic in Technical / OS related
Already discussed here: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=12083 -
Nope, since Reliance doesn't allow activation of handsets from outside. You can try the HTC Mogul 6800... http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=12045

That handset should be compatible with Reliance's network since its dual band (800 & 1900 Mhz compatible), though EVDO will not work for now since Reliance doesn't have EVDO support. But it is not going to work if you use an RUIM card from Reliance because Reliance doesn't allow activation of handsets from outside. The handset may be possible to be programmed, but that procedure is considered to be illegal. You can try tinkering your handset with various CDMA softwares available on the internet for that.
