Times News Network 16 Feb 2008, 0414 hrs IST He missed his train to Surat at Bandra terminus and then decided to make a hoax call to cause a delay so he could board it. Eventually, while the train was being checked for explosives at Andheri railway station, he reached Borivli and managed to board it. However, Jayantibhai Prajapati, 51, made the mistake of using his own cell phone to make the hoax call. He was tracked down and arrested by the Borivli railway police on Thursday night. Prajapati, a real estate broker and resident of Grant Road, and four of his family members had confirmed reservations for the Lok Shakti Express train. They missed the train at Bandra terminus from where it left at 7.40 pm. The next thing Prajapati did was to call up the police emergency number ‘100’ and tell them that a bomb had been planted on the train. The control room immediately informed the railway police and the train was brought to an unscheduled halt at Andheri station. Passengers were evacuated from both the station and platform while a squad carried out a search for explosives. Even as the railway police and bomb disposal squad were moving from one compartment to another in search of bombs, Prajapati and his family got into a local train and rushed to Borivli station, where Lok Shakti was to make its next scheduled halt. He had even seen the train being inspected at Andheri station on his way. What Prajapati did not realise was that while the train was being checked, the railway police was simultaneously gathering information about the Reliance mobile number from where the call had been made. The train finally left Andheri at 9.50 pm. By the time it arrived at Borivli at 10.25 pm, railway policemen in plainclothes had boarded the train. They called on the phone number from which the hoax call had been made. It was answered by Prajapati, who was seated in coach S9 on seat number 51. The passenger chart showed that Prajapati had not boarded the train till Andheri. The police then arrested him on the spot before the train proceeded on its journey to Surat. Borivli railway police senior inspector S R Gaikwad told TOI, "We receive several hoax calls but this is probably the first time that the caller had used his own cell phone." Prajapati told the police he was on his way to Surat to attend a family function. "He admitted that he made a mistake by making the hoax call. He was afraid of losing money as they had reserved tickets," said Gaikwad. Prajapati has been remanded to police custody till February 18. The accused has been booked under Sections 177, 505 (1), 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code read with 150 (d), 153 of the Railway Act and Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932.

Nirvana replied to Arun's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
Well, it looks like TATA Indicom WiMAX isn't VPN friendly, can't connect to office VPN at all. I'm not sure if this is the same case with Reliance WiMAX also? -

Tata Indicom Wimax Broadband Launched In Bangalore !
Nirvana replied to Arun's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
Having a "24x7 unlimited" connection is nothing compared to a connection with 2.5 GB data transfer limit per month too. Or do you know any 24x7 unlimited plan which costs lesser ? -
Tata Indicom Wimax Broadband Launched In Bangalore !
Nirvana replied to Arun's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
@Honest: 1000 bucks for a 256 kbps unlimited connection is normal these days. BSNL is only a little lower at Rs.900 for that plan. But I guess as per the special launch offfer plan, it comes at Rs.500 per month only as Arun mentioned. -
Definitely not "directly", but maybe "indirectly"... but I guess that is out of the scope of being discussed in the open forums here.

good Idea ! -
I have checked it from my friend's place as well, no luck Lucky for you indeed !

well, thats common especially with CDMA handsets. It isn't a problem with the battery, but the handset just gets overheated within a short time.

Thats right, you can select from the available data cards only. If you buy one from USA and want to use it with Reliance, then you will need to program it by yourself, though it is out of scope of being discussed here as it (clonning) is considered illegal. Activation process is required to make the data card active/register with a number which belongs to you.

@bhupal right, its discussed here.

Telecom Commission Approves Reliance Communication’s Gsm Foray
Nirvana replied to sajokj's topic in Reliance Communications
Policy windfall for Reliance Communications Business Standard Reporter / New Delhi October 20, 2007 The new set of rules for granting telecom licences and allocating spectrum announced today changes the telecom landscape dramatically. In a nutshell, the rules mainly benefit Reliance Communications, which did not waste time after being granted the dual-use right late on Thursday night. The company today paid up the mandatory Rs 1,651 crore and joined the queue of operators seeking spectrum. According to some analysts, Reliance has vaulted ahead of others in the queue and now stands a “rock-solid” chance of getting spectrum earlier than expected. This is because DoT today said that it would consider allocation of spectrum from the “date of payment of the fees”. Reliance did that today and is therefore ahead in the list of applicants. But some analysts disagree with that. Because by the same logic the other CDMA operator Tata Teleservices acquired the right to have GSM spectrum in a similar manner. Given the value, the company could decide to do so, further pushing down existing applicants down the list, they said. Another question that comes up is the fate of applicants who are in queue. According to one analyst, since none of the applicants have been granted the initial letter of intent by DoT, and therefore have not paid up the fees, they are now behind those (read Reliance) that have paid. This change of fortunes overnight impacts even the leader on the list, Russia’s Bycell, which has been at the head of the list of 46 applicants since January 2006. The only silver lining for some GSM operators is that Idea Cellular (two circles) and Maxis Aircel (14 circles), along with Vodafone (six circles), which have paid up the money and got the license, but not the spectrum, can get the initial 4.4 MHz allotment of GSM spectrum, provided Tata Teleservices does not jump into the fray. All GSM operators will have to first increase their user base to qualify for additional spectrum, a process that would take a few years, delaying their expansion plans and perhaps losing out on market share, even as Reliance Communications expands its GSM services nation-wide. There are other implications, which rival GSM and CDMA camps interpret differently. Bharti Airtel seems to be the single biggest loser of a policy that provides no assurances of when it will get additional spectrum for its nation-wide operations. Vodafone Essar, which is awaiting additional spectrum in 16 circles, faces a similar prospect. In any case all GSM operators will have to fork out more money for the spectrum. Each additional MHz would cost Rs 16 crore in the four metros and category A circles, Rs 8 crore in category B and Rs 3 crore in category C circles. Given their current profit levels this should not be much of an issue. But what has rankled operators the most is that DoT has changed the rules once again.
