Reliance Usb Data Card Modem Vs Reliance 350r
Nirvana replied to PUTTAMREDDY's topic in Data services
I would prefer a data card over a phone for convenience. -
There won't be much difference since the maximum speed capable by Serial cable is much higher than the maximum speed of NetConnect. So either is fine.

File an FIR right away with the police. Along with the FIR, make a complaint at the nearest Web World and ask them to track the outgoing/incoming calls. That will help you to find the whereabouts of the handset, rather than just blocking the handset. Not much luck if you got the RUIM version though, which one did you get ?

Obviously it doesn't belong to Reliance Mobile (CDMA) as all Reliance Mobile CDMA numbers start with 93. It belongs to Reliance Smart (GSM). Even though Reliance Smart is under Reliance Communications now, the operation is completely independant. So you have to contact through Reliance Smart: www.reliancemobile.com However, I do not think they will reveal information about a particular number if you ask them without a formal complaint or FIR.

Not in the short term, but yes, maybe in the long term... it usually takes time and will get adjusted in the subsequent bills.

You can get the driver from here: http://www.rcom.co.in/webapp/Communication...nectsearch1.jsp

mobile customers... as Platinum plan is not available for mobile customers, but for data card customers only. Hence no comedy there

I guess the reason why Cricket is more popular than Hockey is because Cricket has stars or demi Gods like Sachin Tendulkar, etc. Even though he did not feature in the Twenty20 World Cup, cricket is more popular thanks to stars like him which Hockey lacks. The plight of Hockey hasn't been good in the past couple of decades as India kept loosing all matches and at the same time Indian cricket team won the World Cup and many tournaments after that. Gradually Hockey lost interest, which was Cricket's gain. Also I think Cricket allows more advertisement for the broadcasters, hence more promotoion for cricket.

No Oxygen, No Water, No Land, No Light! Total Network !
Nirvana replied to @ksh@T's topic in The Lounge
It isn't right to determine whether a network provider is good or bad depending upon how good or bad the network is in *your* area. That depends on the position of the tower nearby. Few post above someone mentioned that Hutch has better coverage in *his* basement, but could be because there is a Hutch tower nearby than a Reliance tower which could be more distance away. As far as main centers are concerned, I guess all networks could be covering it equally. Even the coverage statements given by the providers could be exxagerated, so it all boils down to *your* experience which is the best network for *you*. -
and poor Hutch has to pay US$ 2 billion as tax for the acquisition deal now, as Vodafone passed the tax liability to Hutch since they are the "seller" !

The log looks OK. Could you try disabling your firewall completely and see if the wierd issues continue to happen for you ?
-
If a firewall has been implemented at Reliance's side, then that will be a pan-network implementation, but I am logged into Yahoo Messenger without any problem and connected via NetConnect on my laptop. It could be a virus/spyware that is causing the issues for you as Arun mentioned.

That would mean a LOT of sub forums, especially since there are many cheaper handsets available now. Maybe a better way would be to have few sub forums like low-end, mid-end and high-end and those subforum descriptions can have the handset model numbers. Or else assigning the model number in the topic titles will also help, which I guess many topics already have.

NetBooster software works like a proxy service and what it basically does is to compress data like images, etc. which will obviously result in low quality. Speed+ software also seems to be in the same lines. These type of softwares do make a little difference, but not that great difference as they claim.

Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
Nirvana replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
CDMA operators agree on number portability Nivedita Mookerji - DNAindia Friday, August 24, 2007 11:09 IST NEW DELHI: Even as the government has not acted on the telecom regulator’s recommendation on framing a policy on number portability in mobile phone services for more than a year, Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) players have now stressed the need for the same. Number portability enables you to switch from one service provider to another without changing your number. In a letter to communications minister A Raja, CDMA players, represented by the Association of Unified Service Providers of India (AUSPI), said that the Department of Telecom (DoT) must issue necessary guidelines for implementing mobile number portability. CDMA players have been favouring number portability in both fixed and mobile networks. Now, they seem to have climbed down a bit, saying only the latter needs to be done for the time being. AUSPI secretary general SC Khanna said in his letter to Raja: “In case fixed-number portability cannot be introduced at this point of time for any reason, technical or otherwise, mobile number portability should not be held up.” Global system for mobile communications (GSM) service providers, represented by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), is opposed to the idea of number portability in mobile telephony, at this point. According to COAI, it can be introduced only after the telecom market matures further. While CDMA operators include Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices, GSM operators comprise Bharti, Vodafone Essar, Idea, Aircel, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. “Number portability is a very important and effective tool for ensuring competition in the telecom market,” AUSPI’s Khanna has written to the minister. “Any technical or operational apprehensions should not hold up the implementation of number portability because we have before us the experience of other countries and suitable remedies can always be found,” he said. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India had, in March 2006, recommended that mobile number portability should be in place by April 2007. That was one of the last recommendations/orders by former Trai chairman Pradip Baijal. The government has already missed the Trai deadline by around four months. The move would have stepped up competition in the telecom industry, thereby improving the quality of service as all service providers would have made an effort to prevent customers from shifting to competition. The Trai recommendation, issued in March 2006, was only for introducing number portability in mobile telephony and not fixed phones. The regulator wanted the rollout to begin on April 1, 2007, across metros, before moving into A, B and C category cities within six months. So far, most mobile operators have been against the introduction of number portability, as they didn’t want to let go of the customer base they built. Industry estimates suggest that anything between Rs 1,500 crore and Rs 3,000 crore is required as one-time cost for upgrading the networks to enable number portability. -

Saturday, Jul 28, 2007 The Hindu The Centre informed the Supreme Court on Friday that a “Do-not-call registry” would be ready by September 5, and it would put an end to the menace of unsolicited calls received by subscribers from mobile phone and telemarketing companies. “Those in the registry will not receive any unsolicited calls,” Government counsel P.P. Malhotra told a Bench, comprising Justices A.K. Mathur and Dalveer Bhandari, hearing a public interest petition seeking a ban on such calls. “The Government is also planning to impose a fine of Rs.50 crore on those service providers who violate the new norms being framed to prevent tele-harassment of customers,” he said. Senior counsel C.A. Sundaram, appearing on behalf of some telecom companies, said, “Toll-free numbers will be set up from August 2 to enable subscribers to register themselves. Once subscribers register, they will no longer receive unsolicited calls.” Taking note of the submissions, the Bench adjourned the hearing to the last week of September. Notice issued in 2005 Acting on a public interest petition filed by social activist Harsh Pathak, the court issued notice in 2005 to the Centre, the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd., Hutch, Reliance Telecom, IDEA Cellular, Bharti Telenet, Citibank, HSBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank seeking their response. The matter came up for further hearing on Friday. The petitioner contended that he and his family members were subscribers of various mobile phone companies. They were fed up with the unsolicited calls made to them by cellular, banking and other companies using telemarketing as a strategy for business promotion. The petitioner sought a direction to the respondent cellular companies to check, regulate and end the endemic invasion of privacy of their subscribers of the mobile telephony services at all times and hours through such unsolicited calls.

What was the message that you heard when you dialled *228 ? If you heard "nothing", most probably the device wasn't installed or setup correctly.
