Actually it supports the Divx format , MKV is a container only for Mp4 and similar formats, My understanding says it might play via usb but i am not sure It does not support MKV. http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/cpindex.pl?ctn=DVP2850/94&dct=QAC&faqview=1&refdisplay=X81_AV_FILE_FORMAT_DVP28XX&refnr=0103594&scy=IN&slg=AEN -
Hi, I have 4 external hard disks which I use to store media and play media through bluray player. The issue is I have to move harddisk between PC (to copy the downloaded media) and bluray player (to play the files). The bluray player is DLNA enabled (SimplyShare to connect & stream all entertainment wirelessly) http://www.philips.co.in/c/home-theater-systems/crystal-clear-sound-smart-tv-htb5540d_94/prd/ Is there any device using which I can connect all HD to one device and can copy the media from PC wireless and play the files on bluray player. The device should support streaming HD content (huge files) without lag. I am basically tired of pluggin-unplugging and moving the harddisks. Many thanks for any inputs. Is this the kind of device which will do the trick? http://www.homeshop18.com/verbatim-mediashare-mini-home-network-storage-97329-silver-imported/computers-tablets/networking-devices/product:15991893/cid:3299/

Sorry for the late reponse. Many thanks for your inputs. Recently I came to know that broadband connection will be available in my society and they said that I can buy my own ADSL2 modem for that. I have shortlisted the following 2 models to serve the purpose 1. ADSL2 modem 2. Wifi hub 3. For DLNA streaming http://www.flipkart.com/netgear-n600-wireless-dual-band-gigabit-adsl2-modem-router-dgnd3700/p/itmd6ffbdjgc8xgj?pid=RTRD6FYY7B26SHXC&srno=b_4&ref=6d2df226-bc10-438d-b044-4265ac48e570 http://www.flipkart.com/cisco-linksys-x3500-n750-dual-band-wireless-router-adsl2-modem/p/itmdhtwhrhazkfyf?pid=RTRDHTNMPYMG38PV&srno=b_3&ref=6d2df226-bc10-438d-b044-4265ac48e570 A bit unsure about the above mentioned products as they have mixed feedback any suggestions. -

Hi, I recently got Asus Nexus 7 tablet. It conmes with android 4.2 OS. I want to use it for testing various apps. As it can be upgraded to various versions of android Please guide me how can I switch between various version of android. So basically if I upgrade the device to 4.3 how can I switch back to 4.2. One method I can think is to upgrade the android and use factory reset to return to version 4.2, but I want to do it offline so don't have to upgrade online again and again. Many thanks for any information.

Switching between android versions on Nexus 7 tablet

Hi Amitabh, Many thanks for providing the detailed information. I will try various apps as suggested by you and figure out which works for me or else I will use the factory reset method which seems to be a simple option for now. Actually genymotion is only causing problem when I try to run the android image. The same image runs fine on Oracle VM VirtualBox. However from Oracle VM VirtualBox I can't install the play store or apps. I was following a tutorial from xda where I need to run the android image from GenyMotion and then install couple of softwares/drivers by dropping on the running image. This is where I am facing problem as Geny motion never shows any UI of the android image but just crash after few seconds. -

Thanks Amitabh. My understanding was maybe having some sort of backup tool which can be used to backup the entire OS with apps and can install whenever needed (without jailbreak...etc). Don't want to mess with the device. I tried Genymotion on windows xp as well on Windows 7. On Windows XP the android image runs through Oracle VM VirtualBox without any issues but since I need to install play store to install chrome/Firefox browsers I tried to run through GenyMotion itself but it crashes. I tried several options even followed several guides on XDA without success. On Windows 7, the GenyMotion crashes every time I launch an android image with some weired message. Also tried several machine without success. -

Many thanks for your suggestion KanagaDeepan. Actually its web apps and the device is company provided. It is very hard to convince company to have several devices for testing so for the time being I need to use the approach of upgrading/downgrading the OS. I even tried various options like GenyMotion etc... but none of them are working properly. -

Review: Philips HTB5540D/94 5.1 Home Theater & HD Media Player HMP 3000/98
nitinmukesh123 posted a topic in General Technical Discussion
First of all I am not good in writing reviews but I received PM from a member asking for review of the product so here it goes. HTB5540D/94 5.1 Home theater PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS http://www.philips.co.in/c/home-theater-systems/crystal-clear-sound-smart-tv-htb5540d_94/prd/?t=specifications MRP Rs.27,490/- Bought it for Rs.22,598/- from shopclues and received Clues Bucks: 2260 Effective price Rs. 20338/- Which in terms of price was a good deal. PROS Sound quality is good. tried several DTSHDMA audio at full volume and the output was great. Easy to connect to Wifi. MKV works nicely even huge files (LOTR remuxes which are around 35-40 GB in size) CONS Wall mounting a) The general wall mounting kit available in market does not work with the speakers. You will have to use nails to hang the speakers on wall. The length of wire for rear speakers is very less and I could not find any extension wire for this product. Support a) The person demonstrated the product knew nothing about the product and could explain only general features. I asked around 10 question and he could not answer any of them. He told me that senior will call regarding this but have not received any response till date. While installing the tower speakers he dropped them on floor thrice. You can imagine what I may be feeling. c) It was mentioned in the Product specification that it plays Bluray ISO (region unlocked) files which it does not. It just start playing one M2TS file after another and then hangs. d) 3rd day after using the USB hard disk playing feature started behaving abnormally and is not working properly. keeps jumping between Video and Home screen after every few seconds. Will be calling customer support for this. It is mentioned in specification that Dolby TrueHD is supported but does not work in MKV files as it comes up with unsupported audio. I think it only supported in Bluray discs. My overall experience with the product is bad and I will not recommend any of Philips product. Based on experience with different Philips products from several other friends. Some pics (camera have some problem so pics are not clear) -

Thanks Hitesh. I have requested for free demo from Philips which I was not aware of earlier. Lets see if they can do the wall mounting if not then I will do as suggested by you. I was searching for the kit which can be rotated after mounting as per convenience and could not find anything. -
Watched Mama (2013) today as wanted to experience the horror flick on newly bought HT but ultimately it turned out to be an emotional movie at the end. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2023587/ I personally liked it and would rate it 7/10.
