  3. List of CDMA + GSM Handsets

I was using Lenovo A600e for 2 years. Now switched to GlobalSpace Jivepro plus from this month. Specs: Sim: CDMA/GSM dual sim Screen: 5 inches, 540 x 960 resolution Dimensions: 8.8 x 73 x 144 Weight: 150g Android: 4.3 JB Back Camera: 8Mp Front Camera: 2Mp CPU: Snapdragon 1.2 GHz quadcore RAM: 1GB Internal memory: 4GB SD Card slot: upto 32 GB Battery: 2200 mAH Other: LED Flash, GPS, FM, Hotspot Freebies: scratch guard, flip cover All seems OK so far. Except FM not working (yet...)... and not able to root it :-( (tried half a dozen different methods. Seems it has a "patched kernel" => more difficult to root).
  4. Are Lenovo CDMA phones available now?

lenovo a600e.. has anybody bought it..? in case such owners are interested in rooting it.. here's a link.. http://www.jellydroid.com/2013/10/how-to-root-lenovo-a600e/
  5. Hmm.. where are these plans mentioned on reliance website..? I still see the old plans.. http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/rworld/HTML/MobileNet.html#an3
  6. Are Lenovo CDMA phones available now?

lenovo a600e the ROM is advertised as 4GB.. it's actually only 2GB.. the other 2GB is some kind of an "internal SD card".. also.. with the actual ROM of 2GB, only around 750 MB is available for apps installation.. Caveat Emptor.. Shame on you.. Lenovo and Reliance.. misleading the customers.. once again..
  7. Reliance InstaCare App For Android

Not working for CDMA postpaid connection on handset model ZTE v6700. When registering, got error message: "This service is currently available for Reliance mobile users". Customer care, as usual, had no clue..
  8. now works ok without needing restart.. seems to have resolved itself..
  9. @mcwintek: check this too - after switching on airplane mode and returning back to normal mode, not able to send messages! Though able to receive them.. Works ok after restart.. Don't know if this is an issue only with me..
  10. From FAQ on ZTE website: For android handset, when you check the handset memory via task manager, you will find that the usable memory is only about 400M while the standard memory is 512M, which caused many users can’t understand. In fact, one reason for this problem is that the operating system of android has occupied 100M space of RAM. According to the version difference of operating system, the actual occupation is also different. For preset software in handset, the running of programs occupies the used space part, which is different according to actual situation. The above description is the main cause for RAM is not corresponded with standard, which make the users confused.
  11. this time: "Dear Subscriber, Your request could not be processed as you are not a valid user.."
  12. I got mobilenet94 plan activated.. but got confusing feedback from reliance customer care.. some said it's only applicable for browsing through handset("mobile internet").. while others said it could be used through other devices too ("mobile as modem").. i did point out to them that the plan as defined on reliance's website clearly states that "mobile as modem" usage is included..
  13. Did that.. got reply "No Default configured".. btw.. please note that i am on postpaid! >>> ok. You can confirm it by messaging MBNAL to 55333 to get remaininig dtat balance.
  14. I think it lapses. But even with only 5GB, how many can consume that much with only mobile browsing?
  15. More info on the great 5GB bundled offer: apparently it is applicable only for "mobile internet".. i.e browsing through handset.. i assumed it was applicable to use of "mobile as modem" and got charged heavily under netconnect usage - 60p/30p per minute.. am still talking to ccare about this.. another strange thing ccare said was that mobilenet94 is also applicable only to "mobile internet" and NOT use of "mobile as modem".. (have they changed anything recently?? ) when i pointed out that it clearly says otherwise on rcom website, they said they had been "advised to say so" by their "superiors".. well.. i suppose all this is "par for the course" as far as interaction with reliance ccare is concerned..
  16. after seeing initial post here, i assumed 5GB/month was not available for existing connections.. so subscribed to the 94mobilenet plan.. later when i contacted cc to check, they said 5GB offer was valid.. so i asked them to cancel 94mobilenet plan.. but i still am uncertain about what plan i am really subscribed to.. have to wait till 1st month bill to confirm.. one new behaviour observed today: handset suddenly got heated up when i was in a different location
  17. >>401 MB RAM. Strange. The phone spec sheet attached by Praveen on first post list it as 512 MB. 512 MB is theinternal storage size, not RAM. I got the RAM figure by running a system info app. >>So u took a new number with the phone. Hmmm... No.. Continued with my existing number only.. It was a non OMH sim.. Brought OMH sim and got my number transferred to it.. >>Why not they include one screen cover & pouch in the box itself Some other models do it.. Sony.. Motorola.. for some of their high profile/cost models.. But this is a "budget" smartphone..
  18. RAM: ZTE-V6700 has 401 MB.. Haven't got that info for the Samsung models.. yet! Feel: good,i think.. had been using smaller phones earlier(with keypad) where i could fully grip in one hand and operate with thumb.. here, need some practice! But those already using similar phones with a "wider" form factor would feel comfortable.. Look: Quite stylish.. Makes a distinctive impression among the crowd of Samsung Galaxies.. The burnished metal border gives a "professional" look.. Signals: Able to get strong EVDO signal.. data speed quite good.. in excess of 1 Mbps.. Battery life: lasts average 1 to 1.5 days.. currently, i'm trying out various features continuously, so life may improve later! Benefits: not clear whether applicable to old connections.. I got the 4GB SD card.. it is in the box anyhow.. Accessories: matching scratch guards and covers not yet available in the spares market.. USB/charger cable looks similar to some other models..
  19. Bought it last week.. after comparing with Galaxy Y cdma and Ace Duos.. Comparison attached..
  20. Saw it today in Reliance outlet at Bangalore. Sales guy willing to sell at Rs 6500/-
  21. this is what i was worried about. though many posts suggested that NUC would apply only if you "browsed through RWorld". Some data: I am/was on the "old" 99 plan for the last 8 months. I use opera mini for browsing and other mobile apps which access internet. Every month I have been charged Rs 99... PLUS NUC @ 5p/10kb. I didn't have downloading facility either. So it looks like only a few things have changed: A: Addition of default and day pass plans B: Extending downloading facility to all plans (earlier was possible only in 199 and higher plans) C: Increasing quotas for 99 from 20 to 300 and for 199 from 100 to 750 MB. As you can see below, this is really no big deal. By the time you finish using your "quota", your bill will go sky high. So, assuming the above, the following would be the monthly charges for 99, 199 and "unlimited" plans. Assume you download say, 250 MB in a month in each of these plans. Then the cost would be: 99: 99 + (250x1024/10)x0.05 = 99 + 1280 = Rs 1379 199: 199 + (250x1024/10)x0.05 = 199 + 1280 = Rs1479 299 unlimited: 299 + (250x1024/10)x0.05 = 299 + 1280 = Rs1579 In dkaile's case, maybe he downloaded approx. 2200kb. So he was charged Rs 2 PLUS (2200/10)X0.05 = 2 + 11 = Rs13 I would be happy if anybody could convince me otherwise!
  22. more confusion... in the earlier plans, downloading was possible only in the 199 and higher plans. was not possible in 99 plan. now, not clear whether downloading is possible in the new default, day pass and 99 plans. true to form, the customer care gadhas are equally confused.
  23. Judging from previous reliance tricks, i fear for 1 MB, in addition to 50p, they may charge (1024/10)x0.05 = Rs 5.12. So 1MB actually works out to 0.50 + 5.12 = Rs 5.62. And similarly in the other plans. Or am I wrong? I hope so! Nope....you'll be charged 50p for offnet browsing and for very tiny R-World usage which you might have used to reach the browser (say 1Kb for which you'll be charged 5p). In total you'll be charged 55p. hmmm... what is meant by "reach the browser" (using R-World)? i don't use R-World application at all for browsing. Only use opera and similar other browsers. but i do hope your 55p for 1 MB calculation is true!

  25. Mobile Internet Working / Not Working ?

Well, the cat is finally out of the bag. I too was able to see my first bill(for March 2009) after subscribing to the 99 mobile internet plan. Something definitely fishy going on, as usual. Since I was monitoring both unbilled usage and data usage(menu in RWorld) almost daily, I was able to find the following differences: Mobile internet usage is billed as "network usage", "RM World (in10KB)". The usage is shown as 2044(in 10KB) and the billed value is Rs 102.20, which seems correct at 0.05 per 10KB. Of course, the "99" is also charged separately as "L0 subscription". 2044 "in 10KB" translates to 2044x10x1000 = 20,440,000 bytes = 20.44 MB... BUT, the data usage (from "subscription status" menu in RWorld) on 31/3/09 and even till now only shows 12,138,115 bytes = 12.14 MB. Looks like they have charged around 8 MB extra. Also, the unbilled usage as got through the automated system(*333) was only 1556.35 till 1-Apr-09. But the final bill shows 1905.11. Request comments, suggestions from our forum experts. Thanks
