Hi Members, You are all familiar with 4 digit or short digit services for eg. 7333 for Rediff, 8888 for Indiatimes All i know is, if we contact a particular operator and convince him that we have a useful service we would get a 4 digit no assigned.. but before that If we apply for such a service, will it be usefull for us ? PS: Also if anyone know the exact formalities regarding this service, please post it here Also, please suggest unique ideas for what kind of services to offer on such a system.

I dont think they will provide you static IP for mobile internet/data cards. Generally static ip i have seen is been given via a broadband connections only. Providers on average charge Rs. 2000/year and is available with everybody except Asianet Local ISP(kerala) and some other local providers. You can mail in to reliance customer care asking details for the same. Maybe since it is not offered in datacards, the jerks who are trained to be in its support might not have heard of static ip in that section.

Yes ofcourse in windows you have nslookup, tracert through cmd and in unix you have dig tool.

ok sure if you have any linux commands which gives your desired results, that would be the best. since my box is on linux i could easily manipulate that and put it on net.

Static maybe if you could help me about more information on it and connected to linux i might be able to get it through soon. Are you aware of any commands which does ECN traceroute. any example ? I am not familiar with it. please let me know

You dint get the right meaning. What the meant is they have finished converting all users to 2mbps. ie. back end process. BSNL in no way guarantees speed upto 2mbps and we do not get that 24/7 too. If you see the plans listed carefully, you will know they have guaranteed 256 or 384 or 512kbps only on 2mbps connections and for me i get 1.4+mbps throughout average

Upload cap in 2mbps plans are 256kbps Upload cap in unlimited plan is 64kbps only...

Torrents work fine with bsnl bsnl gives public ip and also upload cap is 256kbps. hehehe so basically i should be ready to get banned on many many private torrent trackers i think if they could combine two schemes it would be great !! unlimited 256k 900 + night unlimited 500 (2mbps) take rs 1400 / month and automatically shift the bandwidth time wise what say??** this would give us benefits of both 2mbs and complete unlimited usage !! im anyways paying 1322 / month to sify for unlimited 256 k. i would not mind paying 100 more ** this would be awesome for q based sites like emule and others y you asking them to combine. do it yourself take 2 connections and thats it on 900 UL there is no phone rental.
