  2. Renaming Forums

Hello moderators and members! Some fora need a change of name I feel. The difference between the general forum and the general chat forum is blurred. How about renaming the "general chat" forum to maybe "The Lounge" or something like that? Also how about renaming the news/press releases from Reliance (you know the one on the top) as perhaps"Relevant Media Channel"? :-) Members express your views and other suggestions if any
  3. Gtran Ruim Works On Other Gtrans

Hope this swaping easy, easy enough for a common man
  4. Hi-speed Internet Cable @ Rs 250/month

Further queried the Hathway guys here in Bangalore Phone: 51231313, and they said for every additional mb downloaded, Rs.2 will be charged. Also there is an activtion fee of Rs.1000 and a refundable deposit of 1000.
  5. Gmail Offers Free Pop !

Think Gmail has fixed that. I am not able to use PGTGM since a few days. Gmail was also down for maintenance three days ago to fix some security concerns. 18785[/snapback] Also, I believe, one needs to have the dot-net software to get that program to run.
  6. It is the web world guys who need to be up to standard. Those guys don't even know what has been announced by Reliance in the "relevant media channels."
  7. Bsnl Slashes Internet Charges

Does these new rates apply to the netone service (postpaid) of BSNL?
  8. Duplicate sms, mobile users' new worry By Vineet Khare and Mansi Dovhal Sunday, 10 October , 2004, 10:32 New Delhi: Here comes the most surreptitious, smartest and almost foolproof move by mobile companies to fleece customers. It's called duplicate messaging. Take the case of Meena. A Delhi Idea connection holder, she received the same SMS 25 times, that too while roaming, from a relative holding a BSNL connection in Jabalpur. With no device to stop the repeats, Meena would be billed for one message 25 times - on STD rates. Her kin, too, paid Rs 15 instead of the 60 paise she would have if the SMS had gone only once. Meena's is not an isolated case. Similar outrage has emanated from customers of Reliance, Hutch, Dolphin, BSNL and Airtel. Even MPs are not spared. After being nominated to Rajya Sabha, one gentleman was away on work to London and got a congratulatory sms from a friend 34 times. He had to finally call her up to inform her that she was paying Rs 5 per message and should do something to stop the messaging. Himself on global roaming, his bill for that one sms was considerably higher. Jyoti, who holds a Reliance connection, came to know that her money was being gobbled up by her service provider only when friends chided her for sending multiple messages on Friendship Day. "My friend in Mumbai received the same sms 27 times. Some days later, I was shocked to find that I had been charged Rs 170 for that message," says Jyoti. "A Reliance customer care executive told me to call later. She said they were updating the system. After I called again, my call was forwarded to a supervisor, but no one picked up the phone," she adds. The harassed lady is still awaiting feedback. When contacted, Anjali Kumar of Reliance Infocomm's corporate communication division admitted that "I have got the number checked from the Mumbai office and there have been occasional cases of multiple messaging but Jyoti hasn't been charged for them," a contention hotly debated by the client. When Meena's complaint was brought to Idea's notice, a senior official, speaking from Thailand on condition of anonymity, first said that the problem was technical and had been reported from customers of all networks, but later changed his version - to "no such case had been reported in the past 10 months". BSNL's senior deputy director general, cellular mobile telephone service (Operations & Maintenance), Rakesh Agrawal, too is in total denial. "I will have to check before commenting." Despite being presented with specific numbers and cases, most companies refused to accept the problem. Said an Idea executive: "It's not the fault of the company. Mobile numbers are floating around and it's possible that some customers might have received spam messages. Also, many a time, a customer sends multiple messages after not receiving the delivery report." However, MTNL's wireless chief general manager Kuldeep Goyal, was more upfront. "Yes, the problem exists and it may be due to a technical snag. We are looking into it." But, such promises can barely console clients like Mahmood, who carries a Hutch connection and is ruing the day he bought it. "A few days back, I SMSed a friend at night. To my shock, I found Rs 50 had been deducted from my balance the next morning. Later, my friend called up and said he had received my message 10 times," he says. Reliance customers have an added problem. Though the company deducts money for calls immediately, it waits for around four days before billing SMSs, by which time, users forget the number of sent messages. Ms Kumar refused to comment on this. Kamlesh Sharma of Airtel denied his customers faced the problem, but added: "A customer may receive a message more than once if he has just entered the network coverage area. This is because the gsm technology ensures that the receiver gets the message." Despite all this mumbo jumbo for an explanation, it's the customers who are pre-paying for mobile companies' money gobbling ploys.
  9. CALL DETAILS MUST BE SUBMITTED THIS WEEK ILD call routing: Govt sets deadline for Reliance Info PRACHI VERMA Posted online: Monday, October 11, 2004 at 0000 hours IST NEW DELHI: The government has given time till the third week of October to Reliance Infocomm for submitting details on its international long distance (ILD) calls, which were terminated on Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd’s (BSNL) network. According to an official in the department of telecommunications (DoT), information is being sought on whether the case falls under the purview of the government. “If it is an interconnection issue, the government would not interfere....the two operators will have to resolve the issue between themselves. The government will intervene only if it is a violation of licence agreement,” the official said. “The picture will be clear in a few days,” he added. “We will wait and watch. Our decision will depend on what explanation is given by the operator in question. Depending on this, a techno-legal action will be taken,” the official said. DoT is also closely tracking other operators on the issue of licence agreements, according to sources. Meanwhile, BSNL officials have indicated that the PSU will resolve the matter internally with Reliance Infocomm. Reliance Infocomm has agreed to pay up the dues to BSNL for routing the ILD calls as local calls on the PSU’s network. BSNL had earlier asked the government and the regulator to help stop illegal routing of ILD calls by some operators including Reliance, on its network.
  10. To recharge dial *368 and follow the prompts. My experience regarding to 333 is that they stick to what is authorized. For example, when it was announced in the RIMWEB forum that 93 was going to be introduced, I called them up (and call them occasionally too) and they only state the areas that have come under the 93 scheme. They are not prepared to divulge which areas are going to come under the scheme next. I tried with all languages (kannada, hindi, and english) all with the same result) "when we have the information, sir, we will let you know through relevent media channels."
  11. New Members Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello all, Should have introduced myself earlier. Anyway, better late than never…… My name is Justin. My ASL is 34/M/Bangalore. I came to know about this forum while reading reviews about Reliance on mouthshut.com. My introduction to the cyberworld was through the BBS culture in the mid 90s. Have any of you been part of BBSs. They were the craze before the internet became more widespread in its use. I work as a medical transcriptionist from home. When it rains here in Bangalore, our landline goes dead. And when the cable too is gone, I have no way of sending my documents back to the company I work for. That is why I bought a Reliance phone to be able to connect to the net during an emergency. And I have learnt it the hard way too. All of you are a great bunch of guys helping me out whenever I had a doubt. I appreciate all your help. Let us keep this rolling. Thanks, and Have a nice day!
  12. Invision Power Board 2.0 Installed !

Can all the forums be assigned the collapse/expand options so we could rearrange the forums we frequently visit to appear in the top of a list, and those that we have collapsed to appear at the bottom of the list?
  13. Help Needed

Are you willing to take the dog for routine walks to allow the dog to empty its bowels? Are you willing to provide food and bone biscuits in a scheduled manner? Are you willing to tolerate dog hair on your couch (if you plan to keep it in-house)/ Are you allergic to pet hair and other particulates? If you say yes, to all except the last question, go for it!!!
  14. Invision Power Board 2.0 Installed !

In my case, actually, these pages are taken slightly longer to load as compared to the previous version. Good work, though. What is the difference between Linear plus and the standard version I wonder.
  15. P2p On Mobiles

Nokia develops mobile P2P Music, videos and games could soon be swapped on a mobile phone file-sharing network developed by Nokia. Lorant Farkas, at the Nokia Research Center in Budapest, adapted the peer-to-peer schemes used by internet users to share files and tested them on 6600 model phones. Popular internet P2P networks such as Gnutella and Kazaa allow users to search one another's hard drives for music or video files and then download them directly. The prototype network developed by Farkas can currently be used to share images and text. "Nowadays you can take pictures and record videos with a smart phone," Farkas told New Scientist. "We were primarily thinking of this kind of content." But future versions should go further. Farkas says developing the ability to share digital music, compressed in formats such as MP3, is also a priority. Nokia's system works on phones that connect to GPRS networks which make it cheap to stay online. Users are charged for the data they receive and send rather than the length of time they are connected. H
  16. We Speak Better English Than Indians: Musharraf

Wants to build the tallest building? eh? And become the next high profile target of the domestic/foreign terrorists?
  17. Effective R-Connect Speeds

I get around 4 kb speed while downloading, not the 115 kb that R_Connect announces when I log in. The speed is equal to that we get with dialup. In cable, I get twice or thrice the speed. I bought this LG 2130 on August 2. Do you think the software needs upgrading, or are there any other tweaks to increase the speed?
  18. Speed Dialing In 2130

How do we use the speed dialing functionality? can anybody explain? Thanks!
  19. Speed Dialing In 2130

And what about numbers greater than 9? do we press them together or one after the other?
  20. Covers For Lg Rd2130?

  21. Time To Throw The Rim Phone !

It's probably free only till November 14th after which they will show their TRUE (saccha) colors!
  22. Covers For Lg Rd2130?

It is also difficult to get covers for 2130 here in Bangalore! So during my recent visit to Quilon, I bought myself 3 covers for 2130, just to be on the safe side. For those wanting covers in and around Quilon, 2130 included, visit the complex near the Reliance Web World at Geromenagar.
  23. Lg2030 Refurbished

Will they give only the phone or the other accessories too like charger/ear phones, etc. Hope prices drop even further. we could them as secondary phones, or even try out other models!
  24. Phones Doubling As Modems

Like Reliance, are there any service providers that allow people to use their phones as modems? I know some allow gprs conectivity, but as modems?
