Wireless internet at HAL airport soon
The wireless technology can be used to connect PCs, laptops and handheld computers to each other and onto the internet.

For all those IT corporates who find it difficult to get connected in Bangalore airport, here is a piece of good news.
The HAL airport will shortly have Wi-Fi facility thereby allowing them to get connected without plugging.
The airport will have the wireless fidelity facility in about a month’s time and
the Airports Authority of India has begun working on this. “We should have the new
facility in about a month’s time”, Bangalore airport’s Director B P Bhagat told Deccan Herald on Saturday.
Wi-Fi or Wireless Fidelity means having a high-frequency wireless local area network that enables anytime anywhere connectivity provided the access devices like laptops are fitted with certain specific tools.
Wi-Fi is the most prevalent high-speed wireless technology used to connect PCs, laptops and handheld computers to each other and onto the internet.
Although this facility is available in some of the world’s best airports, Bangalore,
the IT capital of the country, has been a little bit slow to get this facility.
The Wi-Fi has just been launched in the domestic and international airports of Delhi
with Tata Teleservices as the service provider.
The facility, of course, comes with a price. In Delhi, you need to spend to Rs 30
for a 30 minute use if you are in domestic terminal and Rs 60 if you use the facility
at international airport.
The charge for 60 minutes surfing is Rs 50 at domestic airport and Rs 100 at international airport. The service is available after check-in.
The Tata Teleservices implemented the project at a cost of Rs 20 lakh.
At present, AAI does not have any internet facility at the Bangalore airport.
However, the Café Coffee Day and the lounge of Air Sahara have a few terminals where the facility is available.
To use Wi-Fi internet, laptop has to be Wi-Fi compatible. But even if the laptop
is not compatible, one can get hooked through a Wi-Fi card which is available at
the Wi-Fi café.
It may be noted that almost six months ago, University of Pune became the first wireless Indian university where anybody with a compatible laptop can log on to the world wide web without any wired connection.
