You have nothing to worry... When you talk about Reliance 1) There is always a catch. 2) Reliance reserves the right to reverse, withdraw or even charge the customer exorbiantly with out prior notice.

Thank you Kshah I entered the information that you gave onto my Nokia 2280. But it still hasn`t picked up Reliance signal. If somebody could pin up the entire detail in Nam settings including CDMA/AMPS settings on Nokia 2280 maybe I can try to reactivate the phone by myself. I want to avoid going to the Nokia service center, as I want to retain SPC as 000000. Regards
-
Hello Kshah Most of the codes you mentioned are regular ones which were mentioned on this forum. The only significant one that I have added is *#7370# This has not been mentioned before. The significance lies in the fact that it removes all the programs fed by reliance into the handset. i.e. Now, it does not home onto Reliance network when switched on. Service Provider Neutral. It can be programmed to work on BSNL/Reliance/TATA. If any body could tell me how to make this phone pick up reliance network again, I would be delighted.

Forget 7780, I found its brother 7730!! 7780 restores the phone, only to the level of default settings of the service provider (Reliance). It retains SPC. 7730 is different.*#7370# will reset all the factory settings including non user changeable things like SPC and bring them down to their defaults. Sets the SPC to its default that is 000000. You will not be able to resume network service after this, as the phone is now service provider independent!! SPC code is the only restriction on Nokia2280, which as I said is reset by 7370. If we can somehow make the 2280 home in back to reliance after 7370 then it would be 2280 with neutral SPC. Zero restrictions. Right now my 2280 lies disabled. And does anybody know what is 665280

Reliance, Bharti JV on inter-circle connectivity Press Trust Of India / New Delhi August 2, 2004 Business Standard Telecom operators Bharti and Reliance have petitioned the government to stop any proposed move to allow cellular operators direct connectivity between two circles by-passing the national long distance operators saying this could result in a whopping Rs 1,800 crore loss annually to the two rendering their businesses “unviable”. A letter to Communications and Information Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran, jointly signed by Bharti and Reliance, said “the introduction of such a regime will make the existing national long distance (NLD or STD) licences redundant leading to monumental loss of Rs 6,000 crore spent in creating the world class infrastructure. This will completely shake the investors confidence and will not be in public interest.” By allowing the cellular operators to carry calls between two circles the national long distance operators like Bharti and Reliance would be denied their share of up to Rs 1.10 per minute, sources said. Moreover, the two operators have paid huge entry fees and bank guarantees along with stringent roll out obligations for the national long distance licence. This will make the playing field tilted against Bharti and Reliance. Accordingly, any access provider desirous of offering national and international long distance services, should be permitted to provide the same only on ensuring fulfillment of present national long distance licence terms and conditions, they said. Bharti spokesperson, however, said that “we operate our carrier business as a different entity than its cellular business. Therefore this is an issue in the context of only carrier operations.”

Dear Raccoon I would have preferred entertaining to enlightening About Credit Card related security issues, lets do it some other time shall we and maybe on some other forum which specialises on that topic. Chill!

Dearest Raccoon!! I think the night is catching up to you Let me make it more simpler. Say you use IE to access ICICI bank website. You have activated password manager or some program which fills in your details when asked. You’re confidence in this program lies in the fact that your Desktop computer is used by you, and only you, in the secure environment of your bedroom! Imagine this, I steal Raccoons computer in my Beetle, zoom to a WiFi Hotspot, open your IE, use your Password manager to authenticate and then carry transactions. How would you like that? Well, this is the case in your mobile. Reliance Phone is your computer, R-World is your password manager with IE. Unlike on your computer, R-world may not store it locally, but on its server, this further complicates matter. Have you heard about cloning dear Raccoon? If so, let me take you one step further. By cloning your cell (GSM or CDMA) I can access your R world data directly on the cloned phone. You would be blissfully hooting thru the night, phone in your pocket, while its clone will be usurping its prey. So, I say again! At present, in case of ICICI bank, Reliance is a third party with a bad reputation sitting between ICICI bank and its end user. Remember R-world is not a true WAP site, but a jungle inside Reliance servers. So unless the protocol is clearly defined banks are unlikely to handover their Financial transactions to a telephone company. Hoot Hoot

Dear Raccoon! Please accept my apology, I should have presented my view more clearly. I meant to compare Internet Banking with Mobile Banking, by saying this, I hope my earlier post becomes more clearer to you. As you are aware, CDMA authentication can be easily spoofed! The level of security is not up to the mark to allow Banking. This is the reason you are allowed limited transactions thru mobile phones, be it GSM or CDMA (mentioned in my post above). ICICI bank and other banks which run secure online transactions wont allow an easy back door entry to pranksters or criminals. In the near future, if phones do allow financial transactions I believe it will be in the lines mentioned by you above. Regards
