  1. MNP Experience

Insufficient details - how did you attempt to activate it? Did you try thru USSD menu?
  2. India Against Corruption - Parivartan

Dude, no offence was taken to being with. Hence no apology needed. I have not attempted to dismiss anyone's contribution to the corruption movement. Only an insight was attempted and attention drawn to other equally if not more important issues which we have just grown to be supremely tolerant about. I agree, lets not discuss this further.
  3. KShah, good to see you have opened a dedicated thread on this issue. I can see again that it seems to have attracted much less attention (going by the number of responses) than say the thread on corruption. Regarding this, I would only like to reproduce below what KShah has mentioned in his pvt. msg.: Something that all males should ruminate on. Afraid I don't have the time to go thru all the links, at least right now, but I did just go thru your story in particular and it is indeed moving, to say the least. Something is seriously wrong with our system and more specifically with our people (particularly those responsible for drafting and passing such laws). Any law that leaves so much room for misuse is a rogue law drafted by a rogue legislature. It seems they have completely disregarded Blackstone's ratio - "Better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer".

Well, if my words actually sounded harsh, then I guess I'v not even put things across too well. Even someone with a copious vocab would be at a loss of words, if one can just look into things. I'v been quite intolerant about such things right since I can recall. As a kid I'v even tried to rally or channelize people into doing things only to repeatedly learn that people are just amazingly tolerant and accepting about all kinda of ills. Even those that did take interest mostly did so out of alternate considerations. Still, I don't think I can be labelled as pragmatic or pessimistic - I have done my bit, however miniscule, instead of just ranting or even getting others to try to do anything. In a way ranting is a pressure release mechanism, that can keep one from doing something more worthwhile. As for highlighting other issues, do you seriously need me to do that?? Are there no "issues" that can be seen without me highlighting them? Even if I do highlight them, will they be considered? Kshah did, but did anyone even show interest until I used these allaged "harsh" words?

An EXTREMELY important issue. With such laws we are equal only on paper. People who pass such laws should be guillotined. How they are allowed to become law itself is an outrage. I wish to remind RIMwebians that while lending so much support to Anna's movement, please also just go thru these biased laws and how they have been misused. If they do not bring a feeling of outrage in you then there is no hope. Do not wait until you or someone you care about is a victim. Until such laws exist, males are just 3rd class citizens in this holy land. Can only hope that those outraged against corruption here will feel equally, if not more outraged by such laws and come out in support of kshah. Thanks. Will PM u draft tomorrow. Kindly mail if not more 1 reply. I can't force any one as we all are victim of corruption directly. Gender biased law strikes only once in life time. New proposed work place laws are equally dangerous. Please do that. Seems not a single other person has supported you. Right now its "fashionable" to support the corruption issue, so thats what everyone is busy with. But there are n+1 other issues which need addressing. People, esp. Indians seem to have amazing levels of tolerance. India has always been a very corrupt country. Its only when things reached gargantuan proportions that people have stated to take notice. It seems every one needs flogging to wake up. The shadow of the whip is never enough. Most are too busy dozing to bother noticing. What is interesting is that while females have become very active and feminist, males are dozing. In fact "feminist" is not the right word, as it connotes equal rights for women and we are in a society were men have legally, quietly been relegated to 2nd class citizens. Equal rights my foot. The Indian constitution is a sham. As for the corruption issue, bills and laws can only go so far... Lets see what happens after the euphoria dies down.
  6. Switching To Reliance GSM from CDMA

That goes without saying. But the good thing about BSNL besides highway/rural coverage is that there hardly seem to be any cases of cheating (balance vanishing/VAS activations/etc).

  8. Switching To Reliance GSM from CDMA

Have mentioned this before, but since you may not have been thru other threads arguing this issue - my 1st connx. was RCDMA and I have never felt I have compromised on voice clarity when I moved to GSM. But it also depends on the operator. In you go for Airtel/BSNL/RGSM, you will be frustrated. But if you try Idea/Uninor/Docomo you may even find voice clarity better if not same when compared to RCDMA. But yes, in building coverage may be compromised if you go for 1800 MHz operators like Docomo/Uninor/Aircel. But then you are compensated by better tariffs. But really, your actual experiences will depend on specific locations.
  9. My policy. Deal looks very tempting, but in the Product description it says 100 GB instead of 1,000/1,024 GB. Hope it really is a 1 TB drive.
  10. May not be just badly informed - they may be just solving some complaints by dismissing them, lol. Least time, least effort.
  11. Low battery life on LG 510 CDMA

To a small extent it is in user control. If signal strength is weak, try to find a spot where the strength is relatively stronger. Avoid keeping it in cases/pouches. Keep it vertical. It will help to some extent.
  12. Switching To Reliance GSM from CDMA

Cellone/Excel may have amongst the best highway coverage, but voice clarity can be really pathetic. What is funny is that despite being on 900 MHz, their inter-city and indoor coverage too is below par. As for RCom trying to shift subscribers to GSM for whatever reason, seems to me that it will backfire. A customer who is used to their CDMA network for voice will be going from good to the worst, will find it intolerable and after shifting to RGSM after having invested in a GSM handset, he will just be forced to port out to a better (all are better than RGSM, BSNL and AirHELL) GSM operator.
  13. Samsung Galaxy 551 Android Launched In India

Well, I'v noticed the difference (between Flipkart and local shops) can even be around 1k for a 10k phone. That is 10%... sometimes, even bit more, depending on where you buy.
  14. First, are you sure you want to believe them? They may promise something and give you something else. Besides, Docomo is better than Reliance, overall.
  15. Samsung Galaxy 551 Android Launched In India

Thats strange - most phones can be had locally here for less than Flipkart prices.
  16. Not quite. You have to use some/most of the vouchers for "offline" purchases only. For eg. you can't use the Mc D voucher when ordering thru Mc Delivery. You have to use it while visiting their restaurants only. Not sure how it works with all the vouchers though.
  17. Switching To Reliance GSM from CDMA

Dude, it seems you are new here. Please go thru other threads to know about the pathetic state of RGSM in most circles. Here in Poona, within city, voice clarity is bad most of the time, even if coverage is there. In building coverage is anyway poor. Outside city, coverage is zero at way many places where other operators have coverage. I have no hesitation to say that you will regret your decision if you go with RGSM. Airtel too is worth avoiding. Idea has a very good nework in Poona and in-building coverage is possibly the best, but recently even Idea network has been giving problems. This however is likely to be temporary. Tariffs, roaming, data charges may however be a deal breaker. I would suggest you look at Uninor which has very good voice clarity. MTS could also be an option, and you could consider buying a CDMA handset from sellers here.
  18. My Ordeal With Reliance GSM Customer Care

Watch your balance with Docomo too dude... they don't seem to be terribly holy either. But still, they are better than Airtel and RCom. Have posted my experiences elsewhere...
  19. Samsung Galaxy Fit Review

Yes, that will be really helpful, esp. since the cam has been praised so much. Phone reviews are kinda incomplete if sample pics from the cam are not given. Digit should have known this. If someone has this phone and is kind enough to post pics, then please do consider taking pics that help in testing the cam properly... like pics of texts, geometric objects, lower light, etc. Many people just post pics of far away landscapes in full daylight which are not v helpful in gauging the overall cam quality.
  20. Samsung Galaxy Fit Review

No sample pics in the review?
  21. My Ordeal With Reliance GSM Customer Care

Nobody is listening dude. You are one amongst millions who has been ripped off in a similar manner. Just hop onto an operator where you don't get ripped off....
  22. India Census 2011 - Provisional Figures Out Now

Good!! Hopefully they will produce no chidren at least!
  23. MNP Retention Offer You Received

Sorry to hear about your experience... but what do you expect from these call centers? Call centers of almost all telcos are simply more or less awful. Didn't you escalate the issue? Don't just let it go like that!! For complaints, you do not need to call the tolled helpline. While its of course far from perfect, I'd prefer Idea (Maharshtra) anytime, compared to RCom (except for trariffs). And I'm speaking from at least 4 years experience... not just after one experience.
  24. India Census 2011 - Provisional Figures Out Now

This (population) is one of the root problems... but no one even wants to mention or acknowledge it anymore. We are growing like bacteria and cancer cells. How long will the Earth support such a gargantuan human population? Such statements are really amusing. What is so encouraging about this? Do they mean to say its better to have more illiterate males than females? Can think of innumerable ramifications for this. But one of the most imp. points to note is that the larger the illiterate/disadvantaged/unemployed male population, the more the instability in society.
  25. Basically everything about RCom now has the connotation of low quality - network, customer service, staff, adverts. I guess its keeping in line with the original perception of RCom in people's minds - that being its the common man's phone/service.
