+1. But who deleted those posts? At lest people should beware of Honest - he can dig out antique posts that even I have long forgotten.

Lol, some interesting investigations those! Those schemes smell quite fishy to begin with...

DoT Instructs Implementation Of Radiation Norms
raccoon replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Beware of Nokia phones then. Most of the new ones I'v checked have surprisingly high SAR values. Motos seem to be close behind.- 18 replies

Nokia's Bicycle Charger To Hit India In March
raccoon replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Not a good idea IMO. Besides the price, etc., in that position, the phone could be subjected to loads of dust, pollution, rain, random water drops and even tobacco spit from taller vehicles like buses. Experienced that once, when I was in school!! Something that I'll never forget. Nokia better make their phones dust and water proof first, lol. Another issue is that dynamos used for headlight used to make the wheels significantly tougher to rotate. Don't know how much resistance this Nokia gadget will give, but it will mean some more serious peddling. -
Main difference is that Giftmate isn't charging for recharging or paying bills or anything else, as far as I know. Airtel is charging money - convenience charge! Airtel Money seems to be a mobile only platform thru special app. Giftmate can be done thru broswer on desktop/lappy and maybe even thru mobile browser. Or do they have a better way to do it thru mobile? In any case I'd prefer to do it on comp anyday. Mobile transaction is useful only when travelling. I find Giftmate quite unreliable in the sense that almost all my transactions have failed 1st time in the recent past and I have to repeat them which is extremely irritating. But they have always refunded. In Airtel I have zero trust... lets just not talk about refunds.

The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
raccoon replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Don't think MNP will be that drastic to sound death knell but it will definately get them out of the slumber they are in currently. The stakes are too high (Thousands of Crores) for R-Com particularly because R-GSM getting all the bad vibes. CDMA can be the saviour. The major hindrance for RCDMA is of handset choice with good features, across all price points particularly in smartphones and good data plans. Both do not need any rocket science to overcome and they will surely wake up to the reality. I foresee some good action on both fronts in the coming months. Right, but will they rise up to the challenge? Thats the question. It is more than obvious that RCom is a badly managed company. Everyone knew this was coming, but they have done nothing about it. Didn't quite get that. What secure encryption and whats the use of that when now its equally easy to eavesdrop on CDMA conversation as it with GSM calls? Big brother is watching both. -
The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
raccoon replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
With the heavy port-outs and dismal port-ins, the question that immediately comes to mind is that will the CDMA operators (at least RCDMA and Tata Indicom) be able to have a financially viable business and survive? I fear many more people will leave CDMA in the near future. A lot many may leave when its time to change their handsets, when MNP precesses stabilize, etc, etc. MNP is still very young. Unless they do something drastic, I don't see them getting port-ins, to reverse the tide. Will MNP sound the death knell for CDMA in India? -
BlackBerry, Skype, Gmail and now 3G come under the scanner of Indian Government
raccoon replied to faizone's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Govt. has no guts to deal with any real issues - terrorists, corruption, scams, inflation, naxals, oil mafias, unprecedented adulteration of everything, bla, bla... so hopefully they will not deal with money backed multinationals either. -
2G Scam: Supreme Court Quashes 122 Licences issued in 2008
raccoon replied to csmart's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Where does the question of any credit even arise? Assuming that these shenanigans are remotely authentic, the credit at most goes to the SC, which has been putting pressure on the CBI. On the other hand even the PM had kept on giving clean chits to Mr. Scam Raja through the last several months despite several instances of the issues being brought to his notice. I don't know if the PM is remotely as clean as some people assume him to be, but what I know is that it is not just he who is guilty of wrongdoings who is in the wrong, but more so he who allows it to happen right under his nose. But I don't see enough fingers being pointed to at the PM. Why? -
I did see that post earlier. Thats why I posted what I posted.

Tell me about it! Incoming/outgoing seems to be working now. I use RGSM only for ocasional longer STD calls... so I don't care much, but I need to get 1 incoming IVR call to complete Giftmate transaction to recharge our DTH. So was stuck. Reliance the completely unreliable! The deserve to loose all the customers they loose.

Its ironical that small time pickpockets are rounded up, but the bigger ones in tuxedos like Mr. Mittal are supposed to be respectable and conduct their petty pickpocketing business on such a grand scale, unhindered and without fear of any kind of penalty.
-
Now its RGSM's turn - total network outage here. Well, signal reception is there, but its impossible to make outgoing calls or receive incoming calls. Only beeps are heard when calling and "all lines to this route are busy" message is heard when attempting to call from other phone. Is RGSM shutting down after loosing hoards of customers after MNP? Anybody experiencing the same issue?

IMO, a lot of people who have not compared handsets will write. Many will say they are very happy with their Wildfire (or whatever other handset), but this does not really help a potential buyer as he is looking for the best bang for the buck handset and maybe to fulfill some specific needs.

Double Talktime Offer From Tata Docomo
raccoon replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Then they are even more guilty - trying to con customers with better sounding plans when they know that it will be impossible for customers to utilize more than just a fraction of what is promised. -
Lol, don't belittle acknowledged veterans like AirHELL by comparing them with any other operator. No doubt some other operators have also learnt the art from AirHEL, but AirHELL is the master by a wide margin. Others are just apprentices. No one does it on such a grand scale as AirHELL. Mr. Mittal is perhaps the words biggest petty pickpocket.
-
Gosh, one can't even trust them with small time pre-paid balances. Only a bafoon would trust them with more cash?! Beware guys, you may suddenly find your loaded monies vaporised and find that it was deducted when Mr. Mittal went shopping... or if hes in a nicer mood, he'll just decide to buy something on your behalf (hes a big man, please don't bother him with your petty preferences) and have it shipped it to you, just like they way he activates unwanted services on your mobiles and keeps shrinking your balance. Satire aside, the idea isn't even remotely attractive. They charge money for paying bills and stuff. Now why would one want to pay when one can do it absolutely free thru other modes of payment? Not only absolutely free, one also gets couple or so % discount for paying say BSNL bills online. Some credit cards give even more as cash back.

Yes, and same form-factor as most of their other phones, which is getting really boring. Good that it has got a 3.2 MP cam (no AF?) compared to 2 MP on SG 5, but that does not give it any brownie points until we can compare the output. Seems GS 5 won't be getting Froyo, and that might put off many customers, so they are trying to fill in the gap with this model. But I guess they will remain silent about Gingerbread.

BlackBerry, Skype, Gmail and now 3G come under the scanner of Indian Government
raccoon replied to faizone's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Like I said, they are doing what politicians do best - try to solve non-issues so that public attention is drawn from vexing real issues, which are of course way more difficult to solve. And the best thing is that most people still buy these smokescreens. Only that these are not just smokescreens, but have way more serious ramifications. -
Errr... you have 2,340 posts here. You should know the above is PERFECTLY normal with AirHELL. Surely, if you have taken an AirHELL connection, you knew this was coming?!

Double Talktime Offer From Tata Docomo
raccoon replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Well, I'd already requested him to do it once... Jokes aside, don't we all have our issues with them? And the more you interact with them, more the problems you get! Like for eg. I would not have bothered about the offer, and saved the time and issues... or at least not have bothered about their buggy online recharge... Plus I got 2 numbers, plus parents, plus... anyway, I guess I made the point. -
Did you get a new sealed box? What exactly was wrong with the screen?

Double Talktime Offer From Tata Docomo
raccoon replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
More than one week after I recharged, Docomo now tells me that the transaction failed and I won't get any double talk time! So after meeting all their tems and conditions and for no fault of mine, I have lost the benefit of their offer (Rs. 800), thanks to their unreliable systems/deliberate act. I told them I will recharge for the same amount again, just give me the benefit promised. They refused. Initially they told me I would see the amount credited in few days. Further, it seems their Facebook shenanigans are more gimmicks with less substance. Have not been able to get a single issue resolved there. Same seems to be the views of others there. I'm "unfreinding" them now. Their data service has become almost unusable since the last few days; though call clarity seems to have come on track again, which is the only saving grace, besides the tariffs. Extremely pissed at Docomo. Got a good mind to use MNP to change over to some other operator.
