The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
raccoon replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
90 days!!! I cannot use it for 9 mins in Poona without people getting very irritated due to their inability to hear me, lol! If its your main number, and network is bad, 90 days is way, way too long. Better to buy another SIM and check it out at your residence, workplace and wherever else you visit, at least. -
The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
raccoon replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
I got a couple of friends in Bombay who are on RGSM. Whenever speak to them, the voice is usually not so clear. Though, compared to Poona, the network is probably better. In Poona it continues to be awful, though there has been a small improvement in recent weeks. Also, think more than twice if you travel out of Bombay. The network in rest of Mah. & Goa will most likely be bad. I have noted many highways, etc., have simply no coverage, when most other operators have coverage. Even if there is some coverage, most of the time the voice clarity will be bad. -

There is only one guarantee - that they will certainly misuse it. You need harbor no doubts about that. -
Finally made time to install Swype, Angry Birds, and some other apps. Sype rocks... needs a bit of practice though, to bring speeds upto normal QWERTY typing speeds. Spent lot of time on the phone and related stuff, so could not even log on here and elsewhere couple days. One question of anybody in the know can answer - if Froyo doesn't need task killers, why has LG installed "Taskiller"? Or is it there just in case one needs to force close a misbehaving app and it doesn't terminate tasks otherwise (with the default settings)? Choose to upgrade it from the AM, and now its showing ads.

Intelligence Bureau wants ISPs to log all Customer Details for 6 Months

What is this "essential safety"? Has it ever been brought about anywhere? Ultimately, all talk of safety is a mirage. There is no safety in life, because death is certain... it may be waiting for you the next moment itself. However fleeting it is, without freedom, liberty and privacy, life is worthless. Thats my opinion. For many the mirage of safety may be more real and "big brothers" may be desirable. What you expect is impossible even in other ways. If this kind of blanket monitoring is done, it takes no genius at all to just imagine all kinds of hands that it will fall in. Further, the utility of this kind of surveillance itself is questionable. As mentioned earlier, all your tappings and other stunts will not deter those who are ready to die for their cause. -
Yesssir, as soon as I can find some time, as mentioned earlier. Have been going thru the Andy Guide, the link for which you had posted somewhere.

Naw... its a good fone, and the green tin guy is growing on me. :)Thanks! Thanks! I can quite imagine. Don't know what makes these operators/manufacturers so sadistic. Can't stand them dictating what should or should not go in phone. Thanks, for the tips, will do the Swipe and rooting as soon as I can get some time. Spent a lot of time with it already... Whats this Titanium thingy? Some kind of back-up app? Will look into it...

Hmm, kinda. Tbough are very few good reviews about it yet. Lets say I somehow, gotta +ve intuition about it. Or maybe its just Andorid's magik, like you insinuate. The closest runner up was Nokia 5235, primarily for its free navigation, very good GPS and high res. screen, and of course cheaper pricetag. But in the end, could not resist the li'l green contraption.

@Honest, yes, after I get familiar with it. These unwanted apps like Bollywoodji, etc., are a HUGE nuisance. Now I'm being forced to read what x, y and z %#@$# actor/actress is doing everyday. To rub salt on it there seems to be no way to disable the updates or change schedule, etc. They are sapping the juice too. What exactly was LG thinking before putting this utter rubbish in the 1st place and then forcing it customers to go thru these incredibly lame notificaitons? I'm going to hold this spam against you for a long time, LG. Will soon use Rajan's method above to purge this stink from my phone. Can you suggest a yagya or some other ritual (like you mentioned sometime back) to purify it, post the purging.

This should be engraved in gold: -
Finally bought one after much dithering, and joined the Android bandwagon? Very preliminary observations: Touch screen is a tad less sensitive. Recall reading in some review that LG has deliberately kept it bit low, perhaps to help against accidental touches. I'd prefer it more sensitive though. Unfortunately, there is no settings to control the same (assuming that it can be controlled). No appreciable lag noticed yet. Have installed very few apps though. 3.2" touchscreen is not quite enough. Things while texting and in browsers can get real cramped, and one can easily click in the wrong places. And thats my experience with long and slender fingers. People with stubby fingers will really have issues. Opposite party's voice thru speaker at higher volume is not good.

It is not "stupid policing"! Do you really think they are doing it because they are stupid? Security is just a cover they are using to use to further their own ends. We are seeing the emergence of a Police State. -
Let us understand something - different ways of cheating are good only for different periods of time. Right now they can get away with this way. After MNP, etc., they may find other ways. They will adapt with the same/similar mindset. The average customer is way too slow and not smart enough to realize how things go on from the inside, and how hes being ripped off or even contributing to the rot. The ADA group has tried all kinds outright dishonest/immoral tactics in most of their undertakings, most notably telecom and insurance. Airtel is much worse. Still they are the largest telco, aren't they?

Cameras in every single room of your house are next. Because what else remains? No kidding. If it continues like this, it seems perfectly possible. And I'm sure damns sure, in India, loads of simple minded folks will support it saying it will curb terrorism, blah, blah.... Seems like its not worth living here any longer. -

Lol! Even if something does not affect you directly, its never wise to think that it won't affect you indirectly. Everything is connected. -

This is a nightmare. Unless something is done about this immediately, Huxley's forecast in the Brave New World stares us right in the face. Wake up guys - the govt. will soon be the biggest terror organization that has ever existed. -
Rs 5,500 Android Mobile By Intex-In February 2011

+1 to that! But as far as Nokia goes, it seems their quality and durability has dropped big time, along with the price. -

Bharti Airtel Hikes Gprs / Mobile Office Tariff By 150%
raccoon replied to vvinayakpai's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I for one need not go anywhere. I feel internet on mobile is a nice thing to have, but not at all necessary. I'll be quite happy with wired broadband on comp... and internet on mobile thru WiFi. When its really required while on the move, one could make minimal use or activate a day's plan or so if its cheap enough. Of course others pattern of usage can of course be different, and they may genuinely need it for business purposes. But I feel for most, what I have said would hold true. If very less people subscribe/use it, if prices are hiked, they will be forced to keep prices low. Indeed, it is time to reduce tariffs, but veteran looters like Airhell of course want to go the other way. Too bad, no dice for them and whoever else who chooses to follow them, at least from me. -

Christmas 2010 Black-Out Day For BSNL
raccoon replied to KanagaDeepan's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Absurd! I can understand SMS black out days, but AFAIK, nobody has done this for voice calls, yet. As usual, one can count on AirHELL to come up with such amazing brain waves. Can only hope others don't start copying. But they have copied other similar tactics from AirHell, so I'm sure they will copy this too. -
Where?? Would prolly buy it right away at that price.

Source: http://androidos.in/...tes/#more-14772Treachery by Motorola!! Too bad, the XT3 looks quite good. But Moto still thinks that users like to carry their chargers around their necks, and now it seems they think they will be happy with obsolete OS versions. We expected better from you Moto! -
