  1. New STV 35

Like I'v mentioned before, voice clarity of Uninor in around around Pune, is just superb. Even coverage seems to be really good! Data speeds are however reportedly not so good. But they are one of the newest networks, so will hopefully improve with time.
  2. New STV 35

Good offer... though it is per min. the STV charge is bit less, to compensate. But given the network in Poona and elsewhere, pretty much any offer is useless, even if they launch it here, lol.
  3. Reliance GSM Network in Pune/Vishranthwadi

I guess there seems to be a small improvement, but its still pretty bad. Yes, signal also fluctuates rapidly and it still drains handset battery battery MUCH faster than ANY other connection I'v used. The only time I dare to use it is outdoors. But using it in a moving vehicle always used to cause very frequent call drops... but haven't checked this recently, as I hardly use it now. The improvement seems marginal at best. It still cannot hold even a candle to Uninor or Docomo (in that order, as far as new networks are conerned).
  4. AirTel's 3G Roadpath

I disagree with the statement that Airtel is the ''leader'' in fake deductions Our dear own Reliance owns the post. At the height of its activity (I think after the 3G auctions when the needed to pay up) they deducted Rs.120 from my balance for friends chat pack, hellotune, astrology (they auto assigned me Aries though I am Leo but you know Mom Knows Best). I believe they are into 'Micro finance', deducting small amounts from the huge subscriber base. Airtel have been more considerate, they activated some obscene bikini pack and my monthly itemised statement prominently showed to my father that I have grown up and no longer his lil' kid. Come on Airtel! You know better that some sort of secrecy needs to be maintained in these matters I thought we had an agreement, I dumped them soon after that.. My Aircel connection also activates random hello tunes at times. Lol, bikini pack and all... Well, then in my case at least they were more decent - they thought I'd be happier if I find more friends, get married, change jobs, and what not. But as you say, Mom knows best. Anyway, experiences can differ; and also we are in different circles altogether. In my case, Airtel has been the worst experience I have had on all parameters - network, service and billing. My experience with RGSM wasn't half that bad (not talking about the network quality... which is just pathetic and probably even worse than Airtel) - they did try these activations/deductions couple of times in the 1st few months, but both times I got a refund. With AirHELL, forget about refunds, they won't even listen to your case.
  5. AirTel's 3G Roadpath

Lol, I don't care. I hope they don't. I don't have an AirHELL connection anymore. If fact, I do care - I will be the happiest person when they loose their position as the current market leader. So please, please do not perform this MAHA YAGYA!! The only reason I kept it as secondary connection for so long was because I was on the Friendz plan, and it was the cheapest option to call my friends on AirHell and for them to call me. But the network and cheating got so bad, I got rid of it when, to rub salt on the wound, they increased the daily deductions...
  6. AirTel's 3G Roadpath

@Honest, I don't know your friends, so this is of course not personal, but people can have really wierd opinions about quality. For eg. some people I know also told me they have no issues with Airtel. When I probed deeper, they were indeed facing issues... or rather these issues are not issues for them. Like one was facing very frequent VAS activations on a regular basis (we all know Airtel is the leader in this too) and continually deactivating the services as a routine... and he thinks thats something he can live with and a few bux here or there does not matter so much. Also some do not indulge in longer calls, so of course rarely faces call drops. Further those who call only from specific areas of the city which incidentally have better coverage/network also said they don't have issues. Some do not use the phone while on a moving vehicle, so they don't experience the super-frequent call drops that happen on the network due to failed cell handovers. So in short when I'm saying bad, I mean bad in most possible scenarios. So basically the lower your consciousness and/or the lower your mobile usage, lower are the problems you will notice.
  7. Dunno what "older days" means... but about 4-5 years or so ago, whatever Mercury product that I'v used, including SMPS gave up on me. Poor quality was also pretty apparent. I stopped even touching their products since then. Another hardware brand which I and even others I know had a really bad experience with is iBall.
  8. AirTel's 3G Roadpath

Now thats a pretty good example of a really poor article on Telecomtalk. Just look at the language. It is probably not even factually true - I'v heard from several people that AirHELL has a pretty poor network in Bombay, just like rest of Maharashtra. Don't know about the 3G network though. ^^^Amazingly lame way to write...
  9. Mercury (Kobian) and quality?!?! Quite surprised to hear this. I'v had pretty bad experiences with Mercury products... and that includes SMPS, speakers, etc. Without getting into more details, it is one of my most hated brands. And its not just me, but one of my friends who sells and repairs hardware, also says that both quality and service are below par. But then my experiences are not recent. Have they improved on quality as of now? Anyway, these handsets would also be re branded Chinese stuff, right?
  10. I don't think you can call Huawei a runway overnight Chinese company. I'd expect better quality than than what is given by the smaller Chinese manufacturers and with acceptable SAR levels, etc. Lets see when they launch.... they were supposed to do it in November. No sign of it yet.
  11. I just might be a proponent of that. Could help me keep my math memory fresh. And Uninor can also position itself as the geek's operator...
  12. Seems quite overpriced to me. I mean why would one not buy a Samsung Galaxy 5 instead? Don't know specifically about this model, but Micromax phones generally have pretty poor cameras. I won't be surprised if the 2 MP on Galaxy 5 will be much better. @Karthik - Huawei intends to release the Ideos in India priced around 5k. I'm sure you know that already. The phone was scheduled to be released in November itself.
  13. BSNL Goes Cash Negative

While I hate BSNL for the form it is in today, I seriously don't think winding it up is what is going to benefit us customers. What goes without saying is something drastic and serious needs to be done about the way it functions and the kind of people that work in it. We need a PSU like it to keep the private players in check!
  14. Best Courier Services in India?

:previous:Thanks for the quick response. I'll request for DTDC then. Speed is not the issue in this case. Whats far more important is that the stuff should not get mashed up like it was by Trackon. Since you say they work thru franchisees in most locations, do you mean to say the service quality also varies depending on area?
  15. Best Courier Services in India?

how to have an a/c with them? do you have to assure them the min no of shipments per month or something like that? Yes you should have minimum nos of shipments per months (they want almost daily ) if you want i can arrange one for you in my account. call me 2maro. __________________________________________________________________________________________ I have lost one phone in TRACKON COURIER, its worst service I have seen BD, TNT , DTDC is good till date Lol, came to this thread from Google, while searching for the better courier companies. And the reason for this search is experience with Trackon couriers! I Bought something from eBay and it was delivered badly broken to me by Trackon... and it wasn't even that fragile!! I guess they must be routinely crushing everything that they deliver... Now seller is asking which courier he should use. And hardly have any experience with couriers. Blue Dart is not an option as is does not serve the seller's area. Can anybody tell me which of these might be the best option - DTDC, Proffesional, Ondot. I'm inclined towards DTDC...
  16. Query Regarding Pack 69

In this respect too, Docomo is so much better. Recharge options are pretty well laid out. RCom is either plainly cheating or indifferent to such basic issues. What is more, I have found that all (or at least those that I have used) their value vouchers are compatible with each other, and you get the lowest tariff. @krishna2010, you should definitely ask for a refund/credit to core balance.
  17. Lol, true! I guess the magnitude of confusion is directly proportional to the range of choices available. But I'm confused that he has included the HTC. Dosen't fit with the other 2 choices.
  18. Why not also consider the new LG Optimus One?
  19. Which GSM Android Phone to Buy?

IMHO, xt3 definitely seems a much better buy. Wildfire's screen kills the deal. Not to mention that it is also reported to have the worst battery life.
  20. Slightly complicated, as you'd have to remember the validities, etc., but still quite an attractive offer.
  21. SMS Delivery Problem for Vodafone

Are you serious??? Thats like 266 messages a day!! Further, 16.5 hours that you are texting, thats like 16.12 text messages per hour or your typical day! Which meas you generate about 3.72 text messages every minute.
  22. LG Optimus One P500

MRP is 13.5 k, but we can expect it to be available for less, right? And why would Galaxy 3 win? Its screen will be its Achilles heel, IMHO. And the Motorola Quench Xt3 hasn't even been mentioned. Only drawback I see with its specs. is that it does not have an AF camera.
  23. LG Optimus One P500

Shops here still haven't heard of it. Not yet available in online shops either. Anybody knows what the street price is going to be like?
  24. Hmm, both your points seem quite valid.
  25. With even the original Blackberry becoming less/zero secure after RIMs willingness to allow the Indian Government's prying eyes into private mail/messages, what kind of "security" do do you expect with Bharat Berry?? Don't even think about it.
