Just because a product is good, does not mean it will "succeed". Success, depending on how you define it depends on a LOT of other factors too. I have see a lot of good to excellent products not succeeding because they probably failed on other fronts (besides quality).

Hope you have noticed that Galaxy 3 and also 5 have very low resolution screens. This is their biggest disappointment. I'm yet to see working pieces, hence differing my purchase. You could also look at the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 (not recommending, just giving you other options). However, it seems to be running 1.6 (I read that SE will upgrade it to 2.1). It is just slightly over your budget.

+100 to that. Just because something sells more (in some part), it does not mean its necessarily the best for everyone. Thats like saying Airtel is the biggest operator, so it should be the best option for everyone in India.

RCom is amazing. The signal strength at my residence which suddenly become stronger (most of the time at max) and stayed stronger for several weeks has now declined again since last few days to its previous levels. Now again I get one or two bars (fluctuates). Not that the stronger signals was of much use, because voice clarity was poor anyway, but at least there was a slight improvement. I guess I should just get rid of the connection. Doesn't seem like anything is going to improve anytime.

Nodal or Appellate authority for RCom does not exisit for Maharashtra at least. Have tried several times in the past - phone either does not correct or is not picked up.

Why should a customer be made to visit Web World and all? At least I don't have time for such things. It should get resolved thru mail/phone, and fast. Else its not worth continuing with them. I have always gotten my issues resolved thru emails.

They are just trying to garner as many customers as possible, before the competition begins.

Even cheap 1k Chinese re-branded phones have dual standby, but not Nokia. How much lower can Nokia go? They should now start pricing their trash lower than China phones. Without dual-standby everything else is useless.

Aha... so even Tata has caught the infection from Airtel! Don't know why people consider Tata companies so above board... Anyway, at least you got refund and that too with compensation. Airtel is above such niceties...

Still no resolution by Tata Docomo. Reminders fetch "we are working on it" messages. Don't know how long they will keep working on it while I loose money. Really pissed with Docomo...

Generally speaking, a top loader will require significantly less power than a front loader. On the other hand front loads use less water. If that 1 hr cycle includes soaking and stuff, effect on power consumption will be negligible.

But are they giving good discount on per second billing also? I have seen them giving good discount on per min. billing. I'm inclined to think discount will be lower for per sec billing. Actually, they should give better discount for longer calls (for PSB). But they display discount before initiation of a call, so I guess thats not how it works. If they come out with 1p SMS packs like RCom, Docomo, etc., they will do even better. Uninor's voice clarity rocks here. It can put RCDMA to shame...

In Chennai RGsm is OK, means NOT as bad as BSNL... In TN, call connects easily, but the quality of voice call is almost as bad as BSNL, (still little better than BSNL)... In Mah (Nagpur atleast, all your calls will be connected only after 3-5 attempts), it is worse than even BSNL.. In CG (RTL exists much before RCdma here), it is horrible in peak hours and OK during rest of time.. In Nagpur, usually the balance is not shown (USSD) after completion of a call.. Even you have to try *367# almost 10 times to get balance displayed.. This is the present condition of Mah-RGsm (am in Nagpur now).. If RGsm is not providing cheaper tariffs, there will be very few takers, due to its pathetic condition of network, imho.. But now it is not cheap. Other operators have better tariffs and networks too. Re.1/3 min was the only attractive tariff from RCom, (works out cheaper only for STD calls), which they have now removed. The SMS pack is now perhaps the only relatively cheapest thing they have... but then the connection is useful only for SMSing, so not really worth it. It would be interesting to see their subscriber and other figures for Mah & Goa.

Its not THAT bad. Its just simply not usable (voice clarity, coverage) most of the times. At least thats true in Poona and few other parts of Maharashtra I'v taken it to.

As expected, these must be the most expensive plans compared to any operator (except perhaps the 100 MB data plan). Best by far is Docomo where Daily plans are only Rs. 2 and way cheaper overall. Whats more you can activate any number of plans anytime. RCom = cheapskate operator trying to act pricy.

INQ Chat 3G is now only Rs. 2.5 k?? Are you sure?? Any more comments about the usability/quality of this phone? Nice review btw.

Great! Hope to find more phones from the biggies, in the future. Currently not a single Dual SIM phone from them is even worth considering.

Not anymore!! If you have any doubts, please check on the net for complaints. You will find max. complaints about IFB. If you want a front loader, LG is perhaps amongst the best bets. I was quite li'l myself. What is even better is that it has never needed any kind of repairs. Unfortunately very few goods are designed to last these days. So you have to make an effort to know those that last the longest...

Well, even our Videocon is maybe 12 - 15 years old and going as good as ever. But thats because it is also reportedly Hitachi. All parts including hoses seem to be made in Japan; excluding the body. But don't even start supposing that the Videocons of today will be anywhere near that quality.

Right, but about 80% of the time its really bad. But even on a lucky day that it does work out, I would not call it flawless, if you listen carefully. Voice clarity is almost never as good as Uninor, Idea and Docomo.

Screen resolution of SG 3 is very low. Haven't been able to see the screen in real though. Anybody has? Also it doesn't even have a flash!
