Quite true. In Mah, they were not ready to even offer 1p/s off-net tariff! They dragged on with 1.2p/s right until recently... until there must have been no option. But as I said, subscribers are equally to blame for that. If they start leaving in sufficient numbers instead of just hollow complaining, they will have no option but to align themselves with the market.

Battery going weak in 10 months is highly abnormal... unless your use is extremely heavy and you cycled the battery to death. Check your manual to see the warranty duration of the battery. Often it is lesser than the handset.

Hope Docomo will offer these tariffs too...

Airtel and trust??? Have used Idea GPRS for maybe 3 ish years. Never noted a single instance where they showed more data usage than what my phone reported. But then their tariffs are a loot anyway, so I guess they do not need to loot in an underhand way...

Seems Virgin has picked up from where RCom left off (Simple tariffs). This must be the cheapest mobile tariff, as of now, which is without any monthly commitment/STV. Not considering Uninor, as the discounts vary, hence difficult to compare.

I have a 2009 SIM and have had issues activating GPRS/EDGE plans thru the SMS and also by calling on the given special numbers. Once even their CC confirmed the plan is active though I got no SMS confirmation. I used it and lost a big chunk of my balance! They did refund it though, but it was really quite a hassle (long story in short). I'v found the activation to be a hit or miss affair. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Not at all reliable. Anyway have stopped using it now. Using only Docomo for data. Cheapest by far.

Thats what I'm saying! Idea has gone mad for sure... but not RCom is out to outdo them. If RCom thinks it can equal or more than Idea (Mah.), then they are the maddest of them all.

Just have a look at Idea's Rs. 4 packs for Mah & Goa - 40 Local Idea Night Minutes 15 Local Idea Minutes 8 Local/STD Minutes 100 Local/National SMS Note that these cost Rs. 4 against Rs. 5 of RCom. Further, Idea night calling starts from 10pm and RCom's from 11pm. You can calculate and see that either these are CHEAPER or equal to RCom's plan!! And for those out of Mah. - Idea is the dominant player here and RCom cannot hold a candle to their network (not even RCDMA). And we thought Idea was going mad (in a way it is, when compared to Docomo, etc., their plans are not at all competitive).

And these daily plans cost Rs. 5? Docomo charges Rs.2 for daily plans! And its network, tariffs and service are way better than RCom/RGSM. Can't mention all plans here, but just as an eg. compare the on net plans - Docomo gives following tariff after activating Rs. 2 daily plan: Local Night On-net at 1p/10sec = (ie. 6 p/min) Local On-net at 1p/6sec (ie. 10 p/min) And RCom gives 20p/min after charging for Rs. 5/day. Similarly, SMS will cost half as much on Docomo, etc.. Whats more, voice clarity is so bad you may not be able to use it even if RCom offers it for free. RCom has truly gone mad.. or the Airtel guys are doing very well in sabotaging it.

Faster battery drain also means that you are exposing yourself to higher amounts of radiation. So one can say Reliance GSM is hazardous to health.

It should have been a dual SIM phone (like most other Chinese phones). That would have made it a killer combo.

It might just be that telcos (esp. AirHELL) are creating a li'l hype around 3G pricing and then when it does come in the market it may not be priced that high... maybe moderately high; so users may crib less about the price than otherwise. Only time will tell. Anyway, unless its cheap, at least I have no intention at all to subscribe to 3G. For the limited mobile internet I use, I can live with EDGE speeds... and even that isn't really indispensable, as long as I have BB on comp/lappy.

Yes, but they also use boats, vehicles, credit cards, ordinary mobile phones (many were found with the Bombay terrorists), dry fruits, etc, etc. Why don't we ban all that too? It is true that privacy is very difficult in the tech. age. That is all the more need and reason that systems be in place to protect it! Systems, laws, etc., have to evolve with the need of the hour. Not only is this not happening, things are going in the reverse direction. If privacy is not possible how many of us will be ready to share/make public your email, messengers, FB, Orkut, etc., etc?

For sure. And thats one giant that is not likely to wake up anytime soon. Its amazing how such networks still have subscribers. Am aware of that dude. And I'm sure others here are too. Any idea on whether they are going to launch in Mah?

They closed my complaint today, after 3 days, simply by sending me an SMS stating that I have been charged properly as per my plan. Dashed off a mail with screen shot to their Nodal Officer. @ipkonfig, the email id you mentioned (social@tatadocomomarketing.com) belongs to who? The usual useless customer care or someone higher up?

Fixed auto focus??? Dude, someone is playing with words here. Don't fall for it. It can either be fixed focus or auto focus. Monte cam is fixed focus. As for recommending a phone, dude you are asking someone who has not been able to decide on one since the last 2 months or so... But not a single one seems to meet my requirements. I'm considering the Galaxy 3 though. But don't want to buy something that new. Even it does not have a flash and the screen resolution isn't really upto it. But I can't wait forever.

No autofocus, no virtual QWERTY keyboard, no flash, not even a flashlight! Its a deal breaker for me. IMHO, it does not look great either.

So Videocon is picking up where RCom left off (Re 1/3 min)! I'm sure their network at least is better than that of RGSM. However, 3 min pulse works out to be much more expensive than 1p/2s, for local calls.
