  1. Docomo New Offer

Thats 50p for all non Tata phones. Not good (unless have lot of T-T calls), when they have offers for 30 p local to all.
  2. For sure! I'd expect MDA to do a much better job than the mess ADA has made of RCom.... esp. the GSM wing.
  3. BSNL WiMAX Review

Thats awesome. You are very lucky BSNL is so responsive there!
  4. You should seriously wait for reviews before doing that. Nokia has been comin up with some amazing trash lately... like the 1203s and many others. Even lesser brand Chinese phones can be much better than some Nokias.
  5. Has anybody suffered these plans? I attempted to activate Rs. 5/day plan as my BSNL broadband has been totally dead since 3 days. Made 4 attempts to activate by sending SMS and one attempt by dialing the given number. SMS got no confirmation message and dialing displayed a message on the screen that request is accepted. Still I had my doubts so called up Customer Care at least 3 times. One of the guys told me he has activated it from his side. I call again to confirm and the guy says plan is definitely active and I can start using without doubts. So I used it and in just about 15 - 20 mins about Rs. 40 got wiped off from my main balance. In fact I thought about checking my balance as I still had my doubts... else my entire balance would have gotten wiped off in the next few minutes. All this was at night... after midnight. Now the funniest thing is that I get an SMS in the morning informing me that as requested by me, the daily plan has been unsubscribed! Then after sometime, I get an SMS saying the plan is now active and Rs. 5 was deducted!! Customer care says the plan is valid for 24 hours. The SMS received says its upto 12 midnight only. Customer care says it does not auto renew. SMS gives instructions for un-subscribing. Really disgusting state of affairs... don't have the time to do all this everytime I want to access thru GPRS. Maybe its really time I switched to Docomo.
  6. Uninor new SIMs now available in Pune. They also have this new plan which offers varying discounts on a base tariff of 50p/min, depending on location and time. If anybody takes a connection, please do post a review. This explains it well - http://www.indianexp...atitude/628804/
  7. So has this scheme closed.... or extended again by any chance?
  8. Interesting, thanks for posting. However, it is not related to this thread.
  9. Yes, IIRC you can use it however you want - mobile or comp. Can't help you with the settings. Why don't you ask customer care?
  10. R2R 20P/min Local/std Pack Price Hiked...

This is too much. AFAIK, TRAI does not allow them to charge more than Rs. 2 as service charge plus of course service tax. Legally thats all they can charge. So they seem to have found a loophole by offering unasked for SMSs. What is the use of these SMSs to SMS pack subscribers?! Are the full TT denominations still giving full TT?
  11. ^^^Nonsense... instead of giving higher capacity batts and more efficient phones, they give us more chargers. Some Nokia phones batts don't even last a day even with minimal use. I would not be very keen to keep my ph like that for charging. Also imagine all the dust, grime and water that would get on it on our roads! Nokia is nuts!!
  12. ^^^Yes, Reliance is still cheaper. There was a time when BSNL was the cheapest... not any more. Too bad both Reliance and Airtel just declared their inability to provide me a connection.
  13. Ya, it seems to have gone REAL slow...
  14. It is difficult to read in the format posted. Screen shots (if not formatted well) would be far more preferable. These plans are a rip off unless you do a lot of BSNL on net calling. Besides, does on-net mean ALL BSNL phones?
  15. Would really appreciate some advice/suggestions for purchasing a mid- range GSM handset; priced around Rs. 5,000 - 10,000 (lower the better). Requirements - 1) Good camera is MOST essential. Hence, autofocus is desired. Picture quality/clarity is more important than the number of (mega) pixels. A flash which can double up as a torch would be a BIG plus. 2) Overall sound quality, both in calls and for the MP3 player is important. Speaker phone should be loud and clear. 3) Touch screen desirable, but not mandatory, if other attributes are superior. 4) Document viewer would be desirable. 5) Ability to multi-task desirable, but not mandatory, if other attributes are superior. 6) Should be good for fast, efficient texting. 7) "Send later" feature (ability to send SMS at predetermined date and time) is important. 8) Good or at least reasonable battery life. 9) Good build, preferably slim and light with metal body (preferred but not mandatory). 10) Should be reasonably good for general internet surfing. FB, Twitter and other SNS not important. 11) Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) would be VERY useful... but only if there is no compromise on above features. I'm considering the Samsung Metro 5200... as reviews say it has a good camera (with autofocus and flash). Howeiver, I like the looks of the LG Cookie Pep, with its aluminum body. But it does not have flash or AF... so I guess picture quality will not be comparable to the Metro. Besides, it would be too common. Unfortunately, I'm not much fond of the Metro's looks and its relatively smaller screen and reported low battery life. Really confused. Would REALLY appreciate of anybody can suggest better options.
  16. ^^^Well, Saurav is asking about Android handsets only.
  17. Samsung Monte is not an Android phone by any chance??
  18. BSNL WiMAX Review

+1. Nice review. The initial cost and pathetic upload speed is a deal breaker. Despite good downstream bandwidth, the pathetic upstream will severely limit the utility of the connection.
  19. Yes, as mentioned by srk006, you would need different settings, but most you should be able to store them on most phones and select which one to use everytime you change SIMs. Besides Docomo, check out Airtcel too. They have unlimited GPRS for Rs. 98 or whereabouts. However, most reviews seem to say that Docomo speeds are better. So better check out how things work in your area. Btw, could you post you comments on the c5130? It is one of the phone I'm considering. The main drawback is that in spite of it being marketed as a 3G phone, it is capable of only 384 kbps... which was one of the things that put me off.
  20. I have not been able to get Opera Mini 4.2 work with rcomwap, on my Moto. Works fine with rcomnet though. But now that tariffs for both are same, I guess it shouldn't matter.
  21. India 3G Auctions Winners

^^^Awesome "innovations" RCom, we are thrilled, but just one li'l query - when do you plan to give your GSM customers the small added benefit of decent voice calling??
  22. Don't drool so much before you know the details guys! It will probably come with a 1 - 2 GB FAIR USAGE Policy.
  23. Have they started services in Maharashtra?? Yesterday I saw a sizeable Uninor board outside a shop that sells new SIMs, recharge vouchers, etc.
  24. You think anybody else here understands it? Only the expert inguists at RCom can supply you that explaination. How is Docomo inside buildings and on the outskirts of Poona, as of now? I'm sure in-building coverage won't be comparable to RCDMA... or is it??
  25. IIRC, Docomo and Airtel give 30p calling for Rs. 45 and Rs. 49 respectively... and with other benifits. Why do lower grade companies like BSNL think they can charge premium?
